when i grew up, pitt was full of whiners like charles smith. i was a syracuse fan and hated georgetown.

uconn was unimportant then, though if i'd known what a punk calhoun would turn out to be i'd have, um, rooted differently

i grew up in upstate ny & was huge syracuse fan (<3 u gerry & melo) so the transition was awkward but ive made if effectively - i still root for syracuse in non uconn games tho

i've known some ppl in miami to pronounce the state "mizzouri" because of that abbreviation

also the mizzou bball team & fball team use two distinctly different shades of secondary color -- it's v weird, i can't think of another school that's like this

my dentist (and travel bball coach age 12-13) played for syracuse in the 80s - i thought he was going to never talk to me again before i told him i was going to uconn, but he was like "anywhere but georgetown"

dunno who im rooting for in this game really, we lost to both of these teams - louisville we def should have beaten - otoh notre dame plays man primarily and kemba could light them up

because i think jt3 is a great coach, and a couple of years ago the hoyas just fucking carved up duke running all these back door plays -- it was actually beautiful basketball.

my hatreds these days can be broken down to: calipari (who is from pittsburgh and apparently a totally personable guy) because of everything he's done. i mean he is 50% what's wrong with college basketball by himself. pitino, because fuck that dude with whatever is running down his leg. billy donovan for his fucking hairdo. calhoun because i think he's a cheater and his line about being the highest paid conn employee was reprehensible. gary williams because he has no fucking neck and his fans are gutless savages. i actually really respect roy williams, i just don't like his team.

I don't know if jeff is a Duke alum or not, but Jeff is not a Duke alum. However growing up in NC, you have to pick a college bball team to like before you go to kindergarden, and I picked Duke. I probably just like the color of blue better then, that's how 4 year olds pick teams.

I actually went to NC State.

90% of the time that exact situation (esp w/ no timeouts) ends with a desperation heave at the basket by a guy running 90 mph down the court

winning five games in five days -- four of them against ranked opponents -- is pretty damn impressive
