crazy comeback by l'ville

johnny crunch, Saturday, 15 January 2011 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

Why does UNC suck this year? They don't help each other up when one of them is on the ground and barely acknowledge assists! Didn't UNC invent the point-to-your-teammate while running to the other half of the court? I blame Zeller, who seems to want desperately to be Hansbrough. Would love to see Henson put on another 40 pounds, though. But then he wouldn't be Henson. Sigh. And Kentucky is now THE place for a point guard to go. Seems like it's gonna be a long time before we see another Felton or Lawson. Oh, and Make Your Free Throws.!

they suck cuz harrison barnes has been a bust this year?

J0rdan S., Monday, 17 January 2011 14:21 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe. As an aside, I was at the Illinois game in the next to last row and some kid blew out his vocal chords early in the second half after screaming "Hair-i-Son Barnnnnnes!" over and over and over all game.

I think there are two poles on this team -- epitomized by Zeller, trying to be tough-like-Duke on the one side, and Henson on the other, just wanting to have fun. I'd like to see the latter win out. I think Barnes gets pulled between the two.

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Monday, 17 January 2011 23:14 (fifteen years ago)

For reals. Not happy I'm gonna be missing the Pitt/'Cuse game this eve...

john. a resident of chicago., Monday, 17 January 2011 23:17 (fifteen years ago)

its 17-0 pitt atm

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 18 January 2011 00:55 (fifteen years ago)

this is the weirdest fucking game

golden man with homeless voice (govern yourself accordingly), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 01:05 (fifteen years ago)

that was very weird. pitt looks really good, tho -- can't argue with being first in the country in assists and second in rebounds

mookieproof, Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

the dawning ubiquity of big east basketball every year is very much like when it turns to winter, except i can sort of delay my exposure to the former

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:41 (fifteen years ago)

yea pitt is p nasty xp

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:42 (fifteen years ago)

jordan what do you have against big east bball

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:53 (fifteen years ago)

ha idk -- generally i have this problem w/ college bball where i can't really get into it until like after the super bowl & the big east is just always on TV and so many of the teams & their rankings are interchangeable to me

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

like i swear i've seen like 64 games in my lifetime where #6 ranked pitt played #9 ranked syrcause

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:55 (fifteen years ago)

i'm being overly misanthropic obv idk

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 02:55 (fifteen years ago)

yeah dude idk there are so many ridiculously good big east teams tho

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

uconn obv ^_^

yeah idk about this one

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

stewart mandel made a good point on twitter & that's that the big east has an SEC level of respect in college bball despite not winning a nat'l title since 04

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:18 (fifteen years ago)

5 final four teams tho

i'm talking about right now tho - the amount of legit contenders in the conference plus its depth - there's not really an easy game

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:38 (fifteen years ago)

i mean they're gonna get get at least 10 teams in the dance at this point - whether one of them wins it is kinda irrelevant, arguing that it's not by far the strongest conference would be insane

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:39 (fifteen years ago)

big 12 is strong too

fruit of the goon (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 03:41 (fifteen years ago)

okay, as a kansas fan i have to say that marcus morris has become a better overall basketball player than i ever hoped he could be. before the season i was worried that ku didn't have a go-to scorer, but it's been marcus throughout. they could have easily lost all of the previous three games before tonight if he hadn't played so well.

circles, Tuesday, 18 January 2011 05:56 (fifteen years ago)

big east does seem really strong this season but, yeah, EVERY season commentators constantly talk how awesome the big east is. think it is mostly due to:

1) big east is a giant basketball conference with 16 teams, and people think having 8 tournament teams from the big east is way more impressive than 6 from the big 12/big 10/pac 10/acc/sec.

2) big east is espn's "home" conference and uconn is their home school so the big east seems like it must be more important, and espn has a near monopoly on showing and promoting college bball (not counting the tournament, obv).

god jimmer coverage is going to get utterly insufferable isn't it.

it's going to take an awful lot to make me tired of hearing the name 'jimmer'

the announcer were all on his jock. *routine, almost flat-footed long rebound grabbed by jimmer* "OH WAIT A REBOUND BY FREDETTE!", all Harlan-esque.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Friday, 28 January 2011 00:11 (fifteen years ago)

haha oh WHAT a rebound. oh wait a rebound would've been the correct call.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Friday, 28 January 2011 00:11 (fifteen years ago)

an assist...OH WAIT, a rebound!

mookieproof, Friday, 28 January 2011 03:07 (fifteen years ago)

duke got pwned . . . by a steve lavin-coached team kablow

mookieproof, Sunday, 30 January 2011 22:15 (fifteen years ago)

Still kinda mad I missed the chance to boo Steve Lavin live in person last week because of the snow. But it did help being able to boo Rick Pitino tonight and to congratulate the dude who kept up the "Hoya Hoops: A Problem R. Pitino Can't Abort" sign.

Watching Louisville live is awful, but it is fun watching them lose.

Been reluctant to post due to Cleveland States mid season swoon (lost two in a row to Valpo and Butler) but this win tonight was really pretty good against Valpo, next up Butler on Saturday. Norris Cole is a strong point guard and they're getting some big help now down the stretch. Was going to the game against Butler on Saturday but then free tickets to Cavs rolled in as a Christmas present, which is bittersweet.

Anyway, it's nice to have a team to root for in Cleveland.

brownie, Friday, 4 February 2011 02:11 (fifteen years ago)

unc point guard larry drew ii is transferring . . . right now

mookieproof, Friday, 4 February 2011 16:51 (fifteen years ago)
