Missouri is gonna wreck NCAA brackets. They are capable of being realllly good and then will just make one inexplicable decision after another, so they might as easily lose to a 13 seed mid-major as they could knock off a 1 seed.

Austin Freeman is so good this year!

shouldn't there be NO college basketball today? what are they thinking!

so in the second half, they took one shot from inside the arc -- and missed it.

they have 20 players, one of whom is named 'chalupa'

and griffin lentsch is not afraid to shoot the ball

start building the marcus jordan legend?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Marcus Jordan saw to it that the unbeaten run for Central Florida (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) stayed intact.

Jordan scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half to help the Knights rally past Princeton 68-62 Thursday night in the championship game of the UCF Holiday Classic.

The son of NBA star Michael Jordan scored nine straight points early in the second half to wipe out a 37-29 halftime deficit for the Knights (13-0).

Jordan took over almost every Central Florida possession. Just as important, he limited Dan Mavraides to just two points after the Princeton guard lit up the Knights with 18 points in the first half.

"Marcus scored 26 points, which was just an unbelievable effort, but the amazing thing was what he did defensively," UCF coach Donnie Jones said. "I challenged our guys at halftime to come out with an edge the first five minutes or we were going to the subs and he certainly did that."

Jordan played on a sore ankle that prevented him from starting the previous two games.

"The ankle was killing me the whole game, but I just kept telling myself to push through it," Jordan said.

The sophomore guard shot 6 for 9 from the field in the second half and made 10 of 11 free throws. His fallaway 16-footer gave UCF its first lead of the game at 40-39 with 14:47 left in the game.

know what's weird to me? that the nba has two rules that distinctly make the game easier than the college game

1. in the nba you get 6 fouls instead of 5
2. in the nba you can advance the ball past half court w/ a time out

you'd think it'd be the other way around

J0rdan S., Thursday, 13 January 2011 04:11 (fifteen years ago)

well game is 20 pct longer in nba, get 20 pct more fouls

second is basically to create more scoring, same reason you have defensive 3 seconds in nba and no 5 second rule in nba

So much for that Calhoun's bonus:

UConn to lose two scholarships
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6571897

A low rating is costly to Calhoun personally. His contract calls for him to donate $100,000 to a UConn scholarship fund if the program doesn't meet the APR. He also will forfeit his postseason bonus of $87,500, earned during UConn's run to the national title.

john. a resident of chicago., Saturday, 21 May 2011 16:25 (fifteen years ago)

er..."for Calhoun's bonus".

Although, now that I think about it, I kinda like my typo.

chair throwing!!

seems like the chinese won that fight right??

J0rdan S., Thursday, 18 August 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

I feel like I'm more excited about supporting a Hoyas team built for completely insane Chinese riots than about the previous three years of "We should be good, and we will be good for a while, and then we will completely implode by the end of the season." I feel like if we crap out in February 2012 we will at least do it by like, making a huge ruckus at Pitt or something.

C-L, Thursday, 18 August 2011 19:17 (fourteen years ago)

kinda looks like the hoyas got jumped -- the dude in the khaki shorts was out there in a flash

http://eye-on-college-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/31398073

mookieproof, Thursday, 18 August 2011 20:05 (fourteen years ago)

From reading about the game, though, it sounded like the actual insanity was preceded by a game full of rough play; Georgetown had 28 fouls to 11 for the Chinese dudes at halftime.

Also from the WaPo article Earlier in the game, Rocket forward Xu Zhonghao had approached Thompson while he was yelling instruction to his players and then began berating him. Thompson stared at Xu in disbelief before officials halted play for several minutes in the third quarter.

Really really want to see these dudes come play at Verizon Ctr, that'd be the most fun thing since the Duke&Obama game in 2010.

C-L, Thursday, 18 August 2011 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

what the fuck

J0rdan S., Thursday, 18 August 2011 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

Although this makes it sound like the foul discrepancy was not actually because the Hoyas were fighting dirty (so much as the refs fighting dirty): http://hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=24494&page=1#448237
