xp yeah i'm not saying i haven't seen it--the last 4 years of c's teams frequently have an overpassing problem and rondo is offender #1--my point is more that once he figured out the flow of the game he adjusted and looked for his shot a bit more. totally agree that he is always looking to pass first this season.

yeah, stockton was relentless and i'm not saying he couldn't shoot; he was money from the three all career... just that he was better at passing. He was the best there ever was so that's not saying much.
but easy to love? he was tight lipped and played vicious and rough as a motherfucker and seemed like a man apart from the culture. the distance he's kept from the game in his post-career life is downright barry sandersesque. Dude was the best but he was NOT easy to love.
that said, stockton/malone on NBA Jam was the ONLY team to play.

also rondo is an awesome player and exciting to watch and easy to love but he's no john stockton any more than dwayne is michael jordan

interesting fact i didn't know (and then i'll stop turning this into the Stockton memorial threadjack), but dude never had a regular season triple double in his whole career. Just one in a playoff game.

btw rondo's new dive into the paint/pass behind the defense out to big baby in the corner move is super-money, they ran it perfectly 3-4 times last night.

I love unassuming dudes who are totally locked in and don't really care about their own status/reputation. playing vicious is also a big + in my book, also knowing how to play dirty/work the refs. love all these qualities

i was also (yes i know, we got WGN on basic cable, don't hassle me about this) a bulls fan during the jordan years and the layover years so always hated those guys.

^i mean spurs and lakers are obvious examples that value this core continuity and are thus dangerous, hence why does one keep derek fisher, well because in addition to a few playoff daggers left in him he must know every microscopic twitch of kobe's game at this point

Honestly, the reason Fisher's still on the Lakers, and the reason Fisher will have a job in the NBA for as long as he wants to play, is that he's amazing in the locker room. I know it's easy to sneer at that kind of thing ordinarily, but he's highly prized for it in the league. He kicks the asses that need kicking, he mends the fences that need mending, and he keeps flaky young guys from tuning out. That's been his role wherever he's played, and it's certainly why Miami wanted him this offseason.

we definitely wanted him (and matt barnes, too, btw). both lost to the lakers.

LOVE stockton for all the same reasons that forks mentioned - he was sort of notoriously hard to approach. heard multiple stories about him denying auto's to little kids when approached @ restaurants, which kind of rules

seriously no one should ever approach someone they dont know at a restaurant, its just rude
