My theory is theyre bumping up the timeframe so they can more liberally steal all the ideas from iw games.

hmmm wasn't there something in the IW firing controversy about the division of times/settings between IW and treyarch?? i thought IW was supposed to own the modern era and treyarch couldn't make anything after vietnam. i guess that's out the window.

the game is supposed to run into at least the 1980s, with a section set around the Iranian Embassy Siege in London, at least that's the rumor.

is IW basically kaput? talking out my ass here, this could all have been built by former IWers anyway. is there a difference anymore, after the big brouhaha?

IW is pretty much dead. All the leads left for Respawn. I dont think this would affect black ops much since it would have been finished 6 months ago.

IW had some of their own issues to deal with after the game came out. like getting fired.

I started playing CODMW2 again a couple days ago cuz I got the new maps for free.. I steeged twice and am generally in the lower 25% of ranked dudes on their. so many x10s.

Getting back into COD makes these trailers more palatable.. Some stuff looks new, some looks totally carried over from MW2. The perks are almost 90% the same.

they - and then it was only the studio heads or high ups anyway iirc - were only fired 5 months after the game released; there were a number of really bad issues straight from launch which they failed to address, stuff like the OMA/noob tubing spam was never fixed

acti took the money and ran and then had the gall to overcharge for reused maps

definitely excited about this now. not watched anything new or read anything more about it. just a palpable feeling of anticipation since watching that video.

played the beta yesterday. pretty fun. some minor tweaks but its essentially the same game. the perks are identical except 1 new one. the art looks a little different. seemed like there was more color and less dark than mw2.

is there a beta out there for download?

Im reading reviews to see if anyone felt like pointing out the bad points and its a constant stream of 9/10s. With games on metacritic I feel like only the outlier reviews are the ones you need to read and theres not many for Black Ops just yet..

Got up to 7, which I was pleased with for 3 hours play. K/d ratio not nearly so good though. Not nearly so bad as some though. On nuketown I saw a couple going 10/30 or so, is crazy. Maybe I value my own life too much but would much rather go 5/4 than just keep running into the middle of a shit fight ad infinitum. Grim reaper is fun tho, especially when you nick someone else's after shooting them in the arse.....

debating a buy of this. i love mw2.

Level 21,5 hours.pretty good,few quabbles (spawning can be a bit silly,no xp for wager matches,some of the maps are too big) and it's not adding much to previous iterations but it's decent.

Chopper gunner is a bloody beast of a reward, especially on small maps like firing range. I swear I got killed about 6 times over without so much as moving last night. Also, my reactions are way too slow for running round close quarters, i just get slaughtered.

i suck at this too. little disappointed you cant choose much in the way of secondary weapons. i cant shoot a pistol worth a shit.

i actually get nervous playing these types of games, like im actually going to get shot and it throws off my accuracy. ALso it could be the fact that im 36 and my reaction times aren't what they used to be.

I've been holding my own. I dont feel as griefed as much as I did playing MW2 which is a nice change.

I got the attack dogs yesterday as part of a care package which led to a so far black ops career best 17-7 performance.

Those dogs are a right bunch of buggers. Chris, exactly, at 37 I'm definitely feeling that this is a young mans game. Still enjoy it though, have mainly been playing domination where you can get some decent points. Only played one wager match so far, may have to go and have some more of a go in a minute.

I am terrible at this game. It took me a long time to regularly get my K/D ratio above 1 in MW2, though, so I look forward to not sucking in six weeks or so.

I really wish someone would bring out another Rainbow Six: Vegas-style game with the multiplayer quality of MW2/Black Ops. Camping is boring and running and gunning gets frustrated when you keep getting nailed in the back. I'd like a game that rewards moving deliberately with some basic tactical thinking.

I was doing well last night and all of a sudden I am getting absolutely destroyed. Been experimenting with some of the intro guns like the 2x shot gun, the mp5 and the lmgs and they are fucking horrible. Guess I should just stick with the girl who brought me.

...and I switch to the enfeld and then go a decent 10-5 and get a bunch of killstreaks.

script is also awful, esp wrt things like trying to figure out how to make a bunch of russian gulag escapees say that stupid "hoo-ah" thing because the kids love that shit you know, plus hilarious casting of ice cube as a fellow vietnam grunt throwing down slang because thats how the black people talk dont you know.

i blew through the single player of both MW2 and this over the weekend and this is dumb as shit in every possible way in comparison - and MW2 isnt that bright to begin with.

there are definitely some bad gameplay moments too, including closing the game with the dumbest quicktime trigger pull event EVER. (haha not JFK btw xpost) lots of points where the purpose of your waypoint makes no sense, and cheaty endless respawn shit and so on. grenade throwback mechanic is frequently broken as well which is super agravating.

Some good CoD numbers in the paper this morning:

I really like the stoner, but am possibly loving the Galil more, just feels right, and so accurate at long range, even with silencer. Not that I'm getting much chance to Play at the moment.

I had heard Sony was pushing for the banwave due to the PS3 getting hacked to within an inch of its life and this would be a good way to clear out a decent number of the ha><orz

the berlin map is awesome, discovery is pretty nice, not seen anything of the other 2, which is a shame as I really want a go at them

my game has been shittier than ever recently.. think it has alot to do with some serious cod murderers and thugs coming back to the game for new maps after taking a break.

bought the new maps, then promptly remembered that i can't really be bothered with this game anymore, unless i'm playing with my pals. I'm not far off my 3rd prestige though, so not like i didn't get any hours out of it.

Kowloon is a tricky bastard of a map. played it 3 or 4 times and was still totally bewildered.

I just stayed in the middle and used motion to detector to pwn people since I was trying to unlock hacker pro

Holding my own nicely on discovery and Berlin (sniping on the latter is a joy, a rare thing in codblops), but stadium, ugh. I suck so bad on that map, I just can't getmy head around it. Weirdest thing though, have played 5 hours since first strike came out, not had Kowloon once.

Kowloon and Berlin are the best new maps imo. Discovery and Stadium are nightmares in domination, which I pretty much play all the time.

I guess discovery can be good if the teams are even-ish. If its lopsided youre gonna get shepherded behind one checkpoint and summarily raped.

Flag a on discovery and the surrounding area definitely becomes a killing field, yeah. I pretty much only play domination too.

I figure this is as good a place to ask as any: Does anyone play the older CoDs (1, 2, 3) any more? I really liked 2 and 3.

berlin is my fav new map. usually i just sit behind the box on the opening spawn facing down the alley way and unload some ass kicking with the psg1.

that gun is a beast with no attachments, my new favorite.

am enjoying the escalation maps I've played, Stockpile has a lovely flow to it, Convoy is good but has a couple of nasty chokepoints. Hotel? Hmmm not so much, too similar to highrise in previous also v similar to the one with the ice hockey stadium from last lot.

I liked the multiplayer in black ops alot.. was less of a horrible noob tube fueled kill streak clusterfuck like mw2 (and I guess mw3) but the single player campaign in all cod games is pretty much garbage..
