lumines $2, $3 with expansion pack
star wars 10 game pack $25

abanana, Saturday, 26 December 2009 17:12 (nine years ago) link

also, my christmas presents:

wii sports resort
zeldas on a train
the beatles are a rock band

abanana, Saturday, 26 December 2009 17:12 (nine years ago) link

steam again:

Popcap complete collection (30 games) $50
Dead Space $10
Day of Defeat: Source $2.50 (any good?)

abanana, Sunday, 27 December 2009 17:35 (nine years ago) link

they had Prey for $2.25 up for a while, then for some reason it was replaced with $5 Bioshock. besides that:

Orange Box $15
Burnout Paradise $7.50
Killing Floor $5
Space Siege $5

running out of stock at a digital store is just silly

yeah they ran out of keys for prey lol

cozwn, Tuesday, 29 December 2009 15:38 (nine years ago) link

Too bad they picked Mr. Robot today over Starscape, which I would've recommended. Other than that I'm not interested in much except Jade Empire at $3.75. (y/n)?

Nhex, Tuesday, 29 December 2009 18:33 (nine years ago) link

steam again:
Civ 4 Complete (includes Colonization and 2 more expansion packs) $13.60
Left 4 Dead GOTY $7.50
Max Payne 1+2 $3.74
Osmos $2

abanana, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 17:47 (nine years ago) link

The fact that Steam games cost the same # of units in both dollars and euros is silly. Despite this, I am tempted to buy Civ 4 Complete...played a game of Colonization, the 1994 original, last week, and loved it, and so I'd like to try the modernized version.

Euler, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 18:03 (nine years ago) link

damn, that civ thing is tempting

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 18:06 (nine years ago) link

anybody know anything about osmos? 2 bucks is my impulse buy threshhold.

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 18:15 (nine years ago) link

ooooo, complete telltale for fifty bucks! all of monkey and sam and max and bone! VVVVV Tempting!

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 18:16 (nine years ago) link

i bought osmos a month or so ago when it was £2 or so. is very slight, like a well-polished flash game (move around absorbing things smaller than you, avoiding things bigger than you)

koogs, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 20:38 (nine years ago) link

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 23:54 (nine years ago) link

Tempted to get the Max Payne 2-pack. I never played the sequel, and for a buck extra why not i guess (though then again, thinking about it, i don't know if ever want to play MP1 again)

Nhex, Thursday, 31 December 2009 00:45 (nine years ago) link

I never once played those games! Always wanted to. No PC tho :(

antexit, Thursday, 31 December 2009 01:27 (nine years ago) link

max payne is sold out??

=皿= (dyao), Thursday, 31 December 2009 03:42 (nine years ago) link

hmm max payne not showing up for me. wondering if it's some kind of licensing restriction for overseas buyers? shame :(

=皿= (dyao), Thursday, 31 December 2009 03:52 (nine years ago) link

it is. there are people on neogaf trying to gift games to people in blocked regions.

Crysis + Crysis Warhead $13.59
Street Fighter IV $10
Medieval II: Total War $5
Shattered Horizon $5
Multiwinia + Darwinia $3
Half-Life: Source $2.49

abanana, Thursday, 31 December 2009 17:18 (nine years ago) link

nothing for me today. i have half-life and multiwinia, and i can't run the others

abanana, Thursday, 31 December 2009 17:19 (nine years ago) link

multiwinia and darwinia worth it?

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 31 December 2009 17:22 (nine years ago) link

I've never played much multiwinia/darwinia, but I've enjoyed what I've played. Note: there's an xbla version coming out in a few weeks(?) that will probably end up having more players (though will obviously cost more than $3)

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 31 December 2009 18:56 (nine years ago) link

I was just watching some youtube videos of Shattered Horizon and that game looks pretty interesting (I'd never heard of it). A multiplayer only FPS in zero (and low?) gravity enviornments!?! has anybody here played it?

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 31 December 2009 23:31 (nine years ago) link

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 31 December 2009 23:34 (nine years ago) link

That looks pretty slick - i wonder how it plays. Too bad it's DX10 only (no-go for me as an XP dude)

Too bad Medieval ii didn't get a drop - i was thinking of skipping rome and just going straight to that, but since it's the same price as its been all week, i'll wait til the 3rd like a lot of other stuff i'm sitting on. Thinking about darwinia, but i'll probably pass unless somebody jumps up screaming about it

also, any of you holdouts should get SFIV, you punks, that is a crazy good price

Nhex, Thursday, 31 December 2009 23:48 (nine years ago) link

But street fighter on a PC? Really?

JimD, Friday, 1 January 2010 12:19 (nine years ago) link

Sam & Max Complete (telltale games only) $15
DOOM Pack Complete $13.59
Mass Effect $5
Portal $5
RedLynx Trials 2: Second Edition 2.49

abanana, Friday, 1 January 2010 17:11 (nine years ago) link

xp as a PC gamer nowadays who doesn't have a pad of some sort? i have both the madcatz pad and a PS2 controller adapter setup

hmm... think i'm gonna have to finally bite on the sam and max games... i think i've waited long enough for this deal... but $15! that's more than i've paid for any game on steam

Nhex, Friday, 1 January 2010 20:15 (nine years ago) link

Pad isn't the issue really, it's lag. Bmups on PC have never really worked out for me, just because they're SO timing sensitive (even more than FPS), and I just feel like you can never trust a PC to keep up, cos it's always got other stuff going on in the background. Though to be fair, I haven't tried one for maybe 10 years, and it's potentially something that just isn't an issue like it used to be.

JimD, Saturday, 2 January 2010 11:07 (nine years ago) link

very tempted by Mass Effect for 3.75 euros but 12 gigs! and really I have three other rpgs on DS to play first (DQ 5, Suidoken Tierkreis, TWEWY) + I bought the Civ 4 Complete on sale the other night. Plus I have Medieval II to start sometime this spring also. And there is of course no time for any of this. But when I get back to my 360 in Sept. maybe I'll get Mass Effect for it---seems pretty cheap on it too.

Euler, Saturday, 2 January 2010 11:35 (nine years ago) link

I have the total opposite attitude Jim! I mean, I played virtually every CPS2 release and half the Neogeo fighters emulated on PC, I really don't see a problem. Even SF3 runs pretty much perfectly now. Maybe you've been burned by bad ports from the '90s? The SFIV PC port is actually pretty well handled, performance-wise.

I've already bought enough stuff to last me through at least the first half of 2010... think i'll just wait until next year for Sam and Max. Still saving my gift purchases for Sunday...

Nhex, Saturday, 2 January 2010 15:22 (nine years ago) link

Red Alert 3 $10.19
Painkiller pack $8.74
Trine $5
Morrowind GOTY $5
Counter-Strike: Source $5

abanana, Saturday, 2 January 2010 17:14 (nine years ago) link

think trine is worth the five bucks? at this point i feel inundated with games!

lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 2 January 2010 18:53 (nine years ago) link

final day of the steam sale - they brought back a bunch of the previous dailies

Defense Grid - $2.49
L4D2 - $33.49
GTA IV - $7.49
Torchlight - $4.99
Killing Floor - $4.99
STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl - $2.00
Bioshock - $4.99

once again giving the middle finger to those who bought Torchlight as a weekend deal for $10 a week ago

But there have been so many good deals that haven't even been highlighted on the dailies... so many to sift through right now for my final purchase and gifting. The Witcher is probably the last one I'm realy considering...

(not to mention the awesome sale which I would totally be jumping on, but considering I no less than six games on backlog from that site alone, I've sworn it off until I can get some of that done. that sale ends today too!)

Nhex, Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:59 (nine years ago) link

seriously though, get torchlight if you haven't already.

Dan I., Thursday, 14 December 2017 02:59 (one year ago) link

the bbs's i was most commonly on had lord, p:teos, tradewars, sometimes majormud. i loved finding a bbs that had a ton of expansions for lord setup bc all these games were moved limited iirc. maybe not majormud which was more of a conventional mud but on a bbs.

re: Gog support, yeah, I've never given digital purchases much of a thought. When I got back into games three years ago, I just got steam and bought a buncha stuff, and since then I've pretty much uncritically bought everything there. The DRM question isn't important to me, I admit, but I certainly see the value of DRM-free softare. I didn't realize GOG actively worked to not only keep old games available, but also to make them playable on newer hardware. That's certainly worth supporting!

Loom and The Dig really do stand in the Lucasarts adventure catalog as their odd attempts at trying something other than comedy. The Indy games were somewhere between. I never liked Loom, but am glad to hear some of you repping for The Dig. Just bought it, so now I have an adventure game for some of the quiet days during the holiday.

Øystein, Thursday, 14 December 2017 14:23 (one year ago) link

i have a decent pile of Gog games, like their business model and I've used them for older stuff when the price is right just to save some of the hassle of trying to get things to run properly thru Dosbox

Nhex, Sunday, 1 July 2018 06:41 (one year ago) link

it really depends on what you're into. i bought chip's challenge 1&2 for a dollar.

adam the (abanana), Sunday, 1 July 2018 06:46 (one year ago) link

Yeah there's too many

I have so far bought:
Objects in Space - typical space trade/buy type game using lots of terminal type interfaces to interact with ship functions and port computers. Like it a lot so far.

3030 Deathwar Redux - 2d retro version of the above, nice ship combat though

Ultima Martian Dreams (free on GOG) - Ultima VI engine based/Mars version

I'm tempted with Watchdogs 2, it's standing now at 67% off !
