jeff as a connoisseur i don't think you have any choice but to get this game.

but yeah, i DO think the gameplay is improved. there's still a lot of shooting from cover, but it feels looser and less like you're just picking off billions of guys.

it looks incredible, and it's just a shitload of FUN the way the story progresses from level to level, you just feel like you're swept up in a serial-type adventure (well, an indiana jones ripoff, but thats ok). they do a good job of varying the gameplay enough to keep at least me interested, and the environments are pretty awesome. i really can't imagine anyone not enjoying this game a heck of a lot.

i'm not getting the stealth aspect of this game. just gotten to the jungle, and there are parts where the NPCs are telling you to be quiet and not be seen, but there doesn't really seem to be any alternative to start firing your gun?

but besides clinging to an object with O button, there is no way to "sneak" besides walking slow, right?

it really amuses me that this game is called uncharted: drake's fortune. when i see my bf playing it i say "is this SOCOM" and hell say "no its uncharted: drakes fortune". the way he says it u can here the colon btw. then ill leave the room.

also theres a ps3 commercial where the dudes gf thinks that uncharted 2: big stubble in little china is a movie and not a game and i saw it it reminded me doing the SOCOM thing, before, with the first one

tbh that commercial helped sell me on the system as my girl likes to watch certain games like they're movies anyway

Uncharted 2 is a clear front-runner for game of the year, I think, but I have more to play.

I am trying to get through Uncharted 1 to get to the gooey sweetness that is the sequel, but it's not making it easy. I just hit another jetski level, where someone actually thought to themselves "You know what's fun? Piloting a low-powered watercraft upriver against rapids, stopping dead in the water every thirty seconds to shoot instant-death barrels, and fighting enemies with preternaturally accurate aim. Oh, and you know how we gave the player an infinite-ammo grenade launcher the first time? Fuck that, let's try giving him a pistol. That'll teach him to complain. On ILX. Three years in the future."

Uncharted 2 is so awesome.

Finished UC2 today and the ending was better than the first but still disappointing but that is in part due to the awesomeness that comes before it. The game does start slowly but from chapter 5 to chapter 22 everything about it is perfect, especially 'Desperate Times' and 'Locomotion', it's a ridiculous amount of fun and the pacing is almost perfect. I was kinda bummed that Sully wasn't in the game more though, love that guy but all the characters are pretty great which just sucks you in more.

i'm not done with the game yet but it was kind of heartbreaking and frustrating in that part where you wake up in the tibetan village and you follow dude around past all these happy kids playing, bright colorful houses, etc. and you just fucking know that there's going to have to be another level where you go back through and everything's all blown up and gray and terrible and there are tons of bad guys. i kept hoping they would defy this expectation but knew it was going to happen and it kind of pissed me off.

it's just a video game :/

On the one hand, I agree. On the other hand, it is an awesome terrain for a gunfight.

uncharted 2 is pretty good eh? finally got around to it and for some reason i was kinda cynical about it, as much as i had enjoyed the first one, but this is really great. they have made such a virtue of scripted events. the whole thing is so seamless and there have only been rare occasions when the gameplay has been less than totally engaging. i approve of this game.

i just played this game like a year or two ago and i don't remember the twist at all these games are imo not very good games and not very good stories

I started the second game and despite a pretty dodgy beginning (among which is an unremarkable stealth section), it's an incredible improvement on the first game, considering I played half of it in a single night.

Sucked into finish this last night, and it was at its best when it was at its most breezy. That is to say, the final boss fight was not fun, and I had to drop the difficulty down to easy.

same here. i think i actually didn't finish it, it was so obviously the end and was so not fun

I finished U3 even though it had some levels that nearly induced me to rage-quit (nb: I did turn the difficulty down to easy to beat them), and was RELIEVED that it didn't have the same endgame difficulty spikes of U1 and U2. Still, can't wait to sell the disc.

BUT, I've started U4 and the level of polish is magnitudes better (though maybe it's just the target-lock talking). The writing has always been good, but now the story is a lot more fleshed out.

And note to Josh: at least so far, U4's most nostalgic scene is more affecting if you've actually played any one of them for a little while (the stories for previous games you can just google, since the plots have been paper-thin).

That's what I heard. I don't have U4 yet, but I did buy the collection of the previous ones in preparation.

How is the rebooted Tomb Raider series on Ps4? It was not even remotely on my radar until the last couple of weeks, as anticipation for the new one builds. But Rise was supposed to be good, right? More or less the same idea as Uncharted (or vice versa)?

I didn't like the boss fight, but unlike the frustratingly bad ones from U1 or U2, it was because it was a little underwhelming. The story climax was definitely fistpump worthy. Epilogue a little meh, though I definitely enjoyed giving a dog a second treat.
