Why hasn't there ever been a convincing flamethrower effect in a video game? They're always weedy little puffs of flame sputtering out of your gun.

Discuss, and tell me which ones are the best so far. I personally can't think of any that are any good.

i'm trying to remember if Alien vs Predator 2 had a good one or not.

Hmm. It's a lot easier for 2d scroller to do this than FPS, i think.

San Andreas has pretty good 'fire' but the flamethrower is still crap.
