If you're interested in the tabletop thing, play that WM stuff. Giant steam-powered robots punching each other in the face.
I hope this doesn't end up on that lonely "Unanswered Questions" list.

I love the look of them though. Pity I can't get something together but I'd say the time committed to each game is horrendous!

I never really "got" Games Workshop, but Blood Bowl was so good!

Thinking of diving into a heavy solo-player wargame - currently looking at Peloponnesian War and Navajo Wars from GMT as well as Field Commander: Alexander. Not very interested in WWI/WWII, US revolutionary wars, US civil war, vietnam, or anything at all modern honestly?

i ordered Pelonponnesian War (2019 version) and Navajo Wars (which i know some ppl say is not really a wargame, whatever), just keeping you all updated. and to reach the free shipping on noble knight games i also ordered a call of cthulhu scenario book and trail of cthulhu "bookhounds of london" which i will probably use with the CoC rules.

I have just ordered the new Blood Bowl. Played a lot as a teenager. I also got Space Hulk about four years ago, which I always loved. Big scale Warhammer is ‘orrible, but I love the RPG and small scale games.

I have painted like one orc and half a referee from that set last winter then got distracted by something else, but it was a lot of fun. I have many happy memories of stupid things happening in Blood Bowl as a teenager
Been back painting Marvel Crisis Protocol stuff recently, slightly larger scale, everything is bright red/blue/yellow, just good clean mischief

Did a solo half of Blood Bowl tonight (isolating - wife and daughter have mild Covid) to refamiliarise with the rules. Stupidly good fun even on my own. Wood elves beat black orcs 1-0 on touchdowns, but lost 2-0 on casualties...

The PC/console game of Blood Bowl 2 is good for learning the rules and often on sale if you have anything to play it on, though not much more than that as the AI is ludicrously stupid

Massive Blood Bowl fan from 89-92 with the styrofoam pitch. Played mostly Norse (Humans/Dwarves with berzerkers).
Greatest game was against my friend's skaven/werewolves team. Tied 2-2 (playing to 3) I had eliminated every player on his team but two, so I thought I was in firm control. He somehow got the ball deep in his own end and as I was about to swarm him he managed (lucky roll) to kick the ball to his only other player who had leaked out of the scrum. All alone, his ball carrier was two squares shy of the end zone and needed to roll anything but a 6 for each square to sprint into the end zone and win. First roll was not a 6. Second roll was a 6, meaning the ball carrier injured himself, was eliminated, and fumbled the ball. I crushed his last player and that was that.

We have established an actual in-person Blood Bowl league amongst eight mutual friends. It is way fun.

Sounds like it. How soon until first appearance of chainsaw ref?

I've been having fun learning the Men Of Iron series games, so I bought a cheap copy of an old edition of SPQR. I wish there was someone to help me learn, otherwise I'm just staring at piles of chits thinking myself in circles and slowly losing my mind.
