I think we need a dedicated thread for this. They've raised 5 MILLION dollars in about two weeks.

There about a thousand games included. Which ones are good???

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Friday, 12 June 2020 20:48 (three months ago) link

up to about 1700 games now I believe

Celeste and Night in the Woods are the only ones I've already played and both are amazing (duh)

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Friday, 12 June 2020 20:54 (three months ago) link

I bought NITW last year or earlier and never finished it. :\

Shade Kool-Aid (Leee), Friday, 12 June 2020 21:03 (three months ago) link

It's tempting to start a Twitch channel just to do all of these

Nhex, Friday, 12 June 2020 21:04 (three months ago) link

would love to hear recommendations of lesser known stuff in here

i can vouch for a short hike + celeste both being excellent

checking out:
tonight we riot (duh)
democratic socialism simulator
odd realm?
2064 read only memories

will report back as i find new stuff / play stuff

Mordy, Friday, 12 June 2020 21:56 (three months ago) link

oh nuclear throne is in this! great game

Mordy, Friday, 12 June 2020 21:57 (three months ago) link

can vouch for Pikuniku which is cute and satisfying

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Friday, 12 June 2020 22:08 (three months ago) link

i didn't get much out of minit but its like an hour long so ymmv

ciderpress, Friday, 12 June 2020 22:26 (three months ago) link

whereas a short hike was also an hour long and excellent

ciderpress, Friday, 12 June 2020 22:26 (three months ago) link

an hour is an excellent length

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Friday, 12 June 2020 23:26 (three months ago) link

destroy all if ur on catalina

||||||||, Saturday, 13 June 2020 19:41 (three months ago) link

short hike and minit both work for me on catalina, via the itch installer app

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 13 June 2020 19:53 (three months ago) link

great that pico-8 was on this, really enjoyed creating a very very bad manic miner/ chuckie egg platform game

thomasintrouble, Saturday, 13 June 2020 23:23 (three months ago) link

I love pico-8, hunt down Mowerman - it's the most satisfying grass cutting sim you'll ever play.

Ste, Sunday, 14 June 2020 00:29 (three months ago) link

Played One Night Stand. Short VN, not bad, not groundbreaking. Very short, 9 endings to collect.
Several more achievements on the Steam version if you're into that.
Most noteworthy thing about it is that it uses some nice rotoscoping animation.

Nhex, Sunday, 14 June 2020 08:09 (three months ago) link

First time Itcher here ... is there a way to add these games to my Itch library without downloading them?

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 15 June 2020 17:33 (three months ago) link

nuclear throne wont play on mac.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 15 June 2020 17:49 (three months ago) link

It won't play on Catalina, but works on older versions.

Evan, Monday, 15 June 2020 17:50 (three months ago) link

> is there a way to add these games to my Itch library without downloading them?

you can add them to a Collection. see the top right menu on the individual game pages

the bit i had difficulty with was downloading - hit download on the bundle page (in red at top) and that'll give you a page with individual download links.

anyway, minit downloaded (linux version).

koogs, Monday, 15 June 2020 17:55 (three months ago) link

Use this if you need help sorting:

Evan, Monday, 15 June 2020 17:55 (three months ago) link

Collection isn't quite what I want. I want Itch to register my ownership of a game without downloading the game to my system. Adding to a collection doesn't do that I think.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Monday, 15 June 2020 18:10 (three months ago) link

^^^ this is what happens when you just buy the bundle afaict?

lumen (esby), Monday, 15 June 2020 18:14 (three months ago) link

Doesn't seem so bad when weighed against a casual $9,360 discount...?

Evan, Monday, 15 June 2020 18:17 (three months ago) link

poly - if you click the "download" link it syncs the game to your library and takes you to another page, you don't have to download it immediately

Nhex, Monday, 15 June 2020 19:01 (three months ago) link

The whole bundle is saved to your account under bundles they kept it separate from your library to not overwhelm you but it will add individual games as you download them

Mordy, Monday, 15 June 2020 19:24 (three months ago) link

Anyone having problem downloading the Win installer file for Micro Mages? I can only get the NES rom to show in the client downloader. I had to download it manually.

Ste, Monday, 15 June 2020 20:11 (three months ago) link

am enjoying minit.

and 13 year old me is delighted that i'm going to need to make a map.

koogs, Tuesday, 16 June 2020 07:52 (three months ago) link

bundle has just expired

end total: $8,175,364.81

koogs, Tuesday, 16 June 2020 08:03 (three months ago) link

Ste, Tuesday, 16 June 2020 11:37 (three months ago) link

Baba Is You, Spelunky, Hyper Light Drifter, The Jackbox Party Pack 4, BioShock Remastered, and NBA 2K20

they added all these?!

scampo simmonite (||||||||), Tuesday, 16 June 2020 19:44 (three months ago) link

oh... this is a different bundle

scampo simmonite (||||||||), Tuesday, 16 June 2020 19:45 (three months ago) link

really enjoying minit too, stay away from those walkthroughs!

kids thought my PICO8 game was rubbish. tried to explain that it was a deliberate homage to poor acorn electron games but it fell on deaf ears.

thomasintrouble, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:11 (three months ago) link

i have already looked at the walkthroughs

a) i accidently mapped ENTER to be one of the keys and then couldn't select anything from the menu (turns out the sword button (X by default) also works as select)

b) twice i've needed to hit a "random" thing with my sword to get further

mapping this is so much easier with it running in a window and a screengrab app taking snapshots every 5 seconds. the underworld bits are a bit of a pain because they both overlap and are dark.

koogs, Wednesday, 17 June 2020 08:22 (three months ago) link

Golf Peaks is pretty chill

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 17 June 2020 20:48 (three months ago) link

Another tool for sorting:

Evan, Thursday, 18 June 2020 05:15 (three months ago) link

"finished" minit, but not 100%. might work through the walkthrough or might pick one of the other 1703 games...

koogs, Friday, 19 June 2020 17:37 (three months ago) link

Saw that LYNE is in the bundle, nice puzzle game from many years back.

Nhex, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:10 (three months ago) link

following, I bought this but have done nothing yet except DL Wisp

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:14 (three months ago) link

any dumb car racing games? there used to be this great one for older pre-Intel Macs where you got chased by cops and could destroy them with missiles and bombs

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:15 (three months ago) link

Spy Hunter?

Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:58 (three months ago) link

maybe? there were different levels with, like, snow/ice or water levels where you were a boat, really nice motion dynamics?

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:59 (three months ago) link

(apologies if you were suggesting one of the bundle games, I will look)

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:59 (three months ago) link

really nice motion dynamics

lol probably not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_Hunter

Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 01:01 (three months ago) link

Also see Action Fighter, similar to Spy Hunter. In the arcades, but I hammered it on my old Amiga when I got it free with a magazine

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:43 (three months ago) link

(not on the bundle unfortunately)

I've not come across any decent driving games on this yet

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:44 (three months ago) link

How about no wheels racing?

Evan, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 11:42 (three months ago) link

oh there was something, Vienna Automobile Society.

Not your normal racing game. Basically all you do is choose the approach point for the bends on a track, the car drives around itself, to give yourself the best exit speed I presume. It's not great, interesting idea though.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:17 (three months ago) link

Going to try out Wheels of Aurelia, looks like a race/narrative crossover.

Also Vektor 2089 looks like a decent 2d dop down Wipeout type racer.

And non-racing, I love Trawl but not sure why. And it needs to be longer.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:27 (three months ago) link

yeah I saw a recommendation for Wheels Of Aurelia from Morday maybe?

thanks, all!

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:28 (three months ago) link

uh Mordy ofc

sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:28 (three months ago) link

not from me! but sounds cool i'll take a look too.

Mordy, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:29 (three months ago) link

got ending G, looks like there are 16 endings
(or maybe more, just that it had a 1/16 after the G)
It's rather delightful.

so the car drives by itself but you can go faster which will stop it turning by itself and will also enable you to avoid picking up hitchhikers.

whilst you're driving you get to engage in chit chat, using the mouse wheel to choose your responses, but you can say nothing.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:11 (three months ago) link

oh there's the occasional fork in the road

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:11 (three months ago) link

i generally keep to the right

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:19 (three months ago) link

Vektor 2089 is a force! Don't try and play with anything higher than 120cc tho.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 19:47 (three months ago) link

Anodyne not's bad, in a retro-zelda kinda way.

Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 20:51 (three months ago) link

Another vote for Minit. Whole thing's a couple of hours. Only had to look up a solution once, thankfully. Not gonna go back for all the secrets though (though I ended up one coin short of being able to buy the speed boots)

Nhex, Tuesday, 7 July 2020 06:02 (two months ago) link

The speed boots were underused imo. Could've opened up a bunch of extra gameplay with them but as far as I know they were needed for only 2 optional bits.

koogs, Tuesday, 7 July 2020 06:28 (two months ago) link

two weeks pass...

currently playing Hidden Folks.

it's bascially Where's Wally / Waldo, only animated and interactive.

previous to that was Don't Move.

which is a single screen game where you get achievements by moving left and right (or, spoiler, but probably not as it's *in the title*, not moving left or right). spent a lot of it wondering if i was playing it right...

koogs, Sunday, 26 July 2020 16:51 (two months ago) link

played the delightful Wide Ocean, Big Jacket last week. It's a short (1-2 hour) story game about a camping trip with good writing and some nice, relaxing wandering around sections. There's also a 20 minute or so demo prequel with no gameplay overlap that is worth playing too.

Judi Dench's Human Hand (methanietanner), Sunday, 26 July 2020 17:30 (two months ago) link

OK I have a super dumb question: are these all PC-only? I don't care if they are, good cause and all, but the one I've tried had an exe file.

sleeve, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 01:32 (two months ago) link

Many are Mac compatible

Mordy, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 01:49 (two months ago) link

Filter using this https://randombundlegame.com/browse

"Platforms" dropdown on the side bar

Evan, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 01:58 (two months ago) link

^^ thank you, I didn't want to DL stuff I couldn't play

sleeve, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 02:22 (two months ago) link

any Mac recommendations are appreciated, gonna try this Forever Lost thing

sleeve, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 02:30 (two months ago) link

Yeah I dipped back into this last night to try some new ones, will give some feedback in a few days on some

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Wednesday, 29 July 2020 08:03 (two months ago) link

but I like the sound of those ones mentioned above

Two Meter Peter (Ste), Wednesday, 29 July 2020 08:03 (two months ago) link

I remember playing Don't Move on newgrounds.

wasdnous (abanana), Wednesday, 29 July 2020 10:47 (two months ago) link

Jam and the Mystery of the Mysteriously Spooky Mansion is a funny short VN game, very absurd. Make sure you get the Spoiler-light walkthrough in Downloads to see all the ending combinations when you eventually run out of 'em.

Nhex, Tuesday, 11 August 2020 11:11 (one month ago) link

Tried Lenna's Inception tonight, pretty fun and good concept (roguelike Zelda inspired by Link randomizers), wish I could get my gamepad working on Mac though.
