metroid dread existing after all this time and looking that good is completely ridiculous i'm so excited

it owns that they dug it out of the vault rather than starting from complete scratch

i'm not usually a fan of 'being stalked by monster' segments in games but building an entire game around it probably makes it work. love how fast and smooth the movement looks compared to other metroids.

this is particularly encouraging after the recent release of dodonpachi daioujou. except it was the java port for japanese flip phones. um.

dodonpachi daioujou black label had some incredible music. not as good as darius gaiden tho

I watched the first 19 minutes of Pikmin 3 gameplay, and I have determined they are cute lil guys.

On the rare occasion when my kids want to play me in Smash Bros., they typically assign me the Pikmin guy as a handicap, which it is, because I still don't quite understand its mechanics, other than generating/throwing cute lil guys.

I would never not play as Bayonetta. Sorry kids.

oh man i opened the worm can that is smash bros for my kid and i kind of regret it because talk of it - including topics like which other characters should be included, how awesome today's favorite character's smash move is, how even awesomer it is that wario farts and chews on you, how terrible olimar is, and spin off games based on it - permeates basically everything now

He especially likes to make me download $5.99 smash DLC so he can play me as some new character, before promptly never playing as that character ever again. Smash + premium DLC is diabolical on Nintendo’s part

fighting games making more characters as paid dlc post-release is pretty standard. but unlike every other game, smash has blasted past the point of "okay i don't really need the 26th character when i already have 25" and into "there's such a hilariously large number of characters that it would be a shame if i didn't have them all"

We had about 6 months spent on which of the latest DLC characters were "OP." And what had been "Nerfed." Yes, I'm old.

I eventually learned that toon Link is best for me. neutral special has full board range. Good down special w/ timed bombs. The up special is very easy to use for attacking above and for recovery. the moveset is also natural for the character with no strange reloading dynamic (olimar, splatoon, etc).
