Finally got silvers in all of the Hard tracks except King of the Hill.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 24 August 2009 21:24 (sixteen years ago)

ledge did you get a bike for completing all the levelz?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 24 August 2009 21:24 (sixteen years ago)

Doesn't look like it, I daresay it comes when you complete all tournaments.

ledge, Monday, 24 August 2009 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

ugh, f that

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 24 August 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

Two shittily-timed accidental restarts driving me toward madness.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 25 August 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

ok to get the final bike you have to get gold in the national cup, which is a pain in the arse. then you get a shitty 60cc mini donkey bike.

only got one achievement to go - marathon, complete the ultimate endurance with no faults. that's 24 tracks - as if.

ledge, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 18:43 (sixteen years ago)

Can't seem to get over the first part of King of the Hill :(
Any advice?

Did beat my first EXTREME track today though - got to the last little bit in 15 or so minutes with only 200 or so faults, but then almost didn't make it to the end as I started to panic - a good 200 restarts for the last couple of inches, which was weird as a couple of the earlier parts seemed harder

Also crazy platinum trophies unlocked, not doing that shit

Are you watching the videos of the high scores? Those are great for figuring out how to do particular parts of levels.

The first part of King of the Hill, I am pressing right as I slowly progress up the hill. Then about 1/3 of the way up I stop leaning right and quickly accelerate, with no lean, and that seems to usually get me airborne enough to grab hold of something at the top.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 30 August 2009 08:29 (sixteen years ago)

Thanks, I'll try your lean back technique. I definitely watched the videos of the top players doing that hill, but possibly because I'm mentally defective, the replays don't seem to help me. I can't seem to get my brain to put together the controls they are showing in the lower right corner, with the riders action in the middle of the screen. I can only perceive one set of data or the other and can't seem to put them together in a helpful way :(

Except it is slightly encouraging just to see certain things that seem impossible are not only possible, but easy (for some).

Jeff LeVine, Sunday, 30 August 2009 16:19 (sixteen years ago)

hmm - I can't seem to get from that forward to no lean position - I always pull back too far maybe. Maybe I'll stick to Excite Bike

Jeff LeVine, Sunday, 30 August 2009 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

It's not like I can get it every time. Lots of restarts on that first part.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 30 August 2009 22:15 (sixteen years ago)

My technique - i think - is to go up the hill leaning forward, then sharp back before you hit the boxes at the top, then sharp forward. if the bike doesn't go forward after you take off then push back sooner, and if you make it up to the top but land on your nose, push forward sooner.

ledge, Sunday, 30 August 2009 23:26 (sixteen years ago)

I just did the same part of Inferno II like 400 times in a row, without passing it. This game can be pretty damned cruel.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 05:52 (sixteen years ago)

i just reread my advice up there and it's RONG. you should go sharp back, then forward, then back again, and if you land on your nose it's that second back that you need to do sooner.

ledge, Monday, 31 August 2009 10:26 (sixteen years ago)

xp btw which bit? the three sloping boxes is the killer for me.

ledge, Monday, 31 August 2009 10:27 (sixteen years ago)

xp btw which bit? the three sloping boxes is the killer for me.

The first box is flat, and then two sloping boxes, and then jumping off the third box into a huge chasm, where I guess you have to land/ricochet off this random thing in the middle of the chasm, but I never managed to do more than scrape it while falling to my doom, and only managed to get over the third box maybe four or five times out of 400.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 17:10 (sixteen years ago)

I don't know why landing on that third box is so hard. The technique that eventually worked best for me was not to touch the stick at all on landing. You have to be at the right angle - parallel to the box or back wheel slightly lower - and ideally leaning forward already (but with the stick in neutral). Gun the engine briefly on landing and only push the stick forward when you're completely settled. If you can then do a controlled slip down to the bottom, you should be able to rocket up to the top and make the barrel easily.

ledge, Monday, 31 August 2009 17:22 (sixteen years ago)

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 9 September 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

Ride on top of them.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 01:38 (sixteen years ago)

well, i did that, in what might possibly be the worst attempt anyone's ever made. ended up with about 140 faults. made the jump in the end but haven't managed to repeat it. do you mean ride them as in stand on top of them to get them moving?

sonderangerbot, Wednesday, 9 September 2009 08:34 (sixteen years ago)

Go backwards on top of them to get them moving forwards.

this must be what FAIL is really like (ledge), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 08:43 (sixteen years ago)

Or, if you watch the vids at the top of the leaderboard, just rocket over both of them.

this must be what FAIL is really like (ledge), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 08:50 (sixteen years ago)

Or, if you watch the vids at the top of the leaderboard, just rocket over both of them.

Oh man, is there a rocket around there?

I wish I used the rockets more frequently.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

It's only a figurative rocket.

this must be what FAIL is really like (ledge), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

Okay. My point stands though. There are rockets around, and I rarely use them.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 18:09 (sixteen years ago)

surfing on hokusine waves (ledge), Monday, 12 October 2009 18:32 (sixteen years ago)

my final session trying to get gold in the underground cup, i think anyone watching would have doubted whether i was having fun (pretty sure i wasn't, actually) or even sane.

surfing on hokusine waves (ledge), Monday, 12 October 2009 18:33 (sixteen years ago)

yeah think i'm finished too although never got gold in world championship or ultimate tournaments ;_;

Oh I'm not counting those because clearly a level of aspie-ness is required that is beyond even me.

Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 23:52 (sixteen years ago)

Up to the last track, which I am pretty close to beating. Some of the new tracks are really neat.

real bears playing hockey (polyphonic), Thursday, 24 December 2009 05:45 (sixteen years ago)
