Hill climb: you have to straighten the bike out and keep it in low gear the whole way up. I think I almost hit the top when I spun out.

cozwn, Friday, 14 August 2009 13:59 (sixteen years ago)

Probably worth its own thread at this point:

hoooo boy this demo of call of juarez suuuuuucccks

genereal disease (jjjusten), Monday, 17 August 2009 06:27 (sixteen years ago)

agreed. Love the arkham demo though!

what a horribly formed "joke"! (forksclovetofu), Monday, 17 August 2009 13:28 (sixteen years ago)

i got a copy of the call of juarez prequel 'bond of blood' or whatever and it is incredibly boring. not to mention you play as a southerner in the civil war...

bnw, Monday, 17 August 2009 16:50 (sixteen years ago)

any game with bullet-time events can fuck right off imho

what a horribly formed "joke"! (forksclovetofu), Monday, 17 August 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

I found the first one boring and was hoping this one would be a little better-- I read a good review of it, where, on Joystiq?

I still think there's a great Western game out there to be made. Maybe this new Red Dead game will be it?

antexit, Monday, 17 August 2009 20:04 (sixteen years ago)

ok super down with the mini-ninjas demo. this could be great i think.

please link to them and breathe into a paper bag (jjjusten), Saturday, 22 August 2009 06:20 (sixteen years ago)

Tell me more about this Battlefield 1943.

ledge, Saturday, 22 August 2009 09:57 (sixteen years ago)

Battlefield 1943

JimD, Saturday, 22 August 2009 10:05 (sixteen years ago)

xxp not that I've played the demo for Mini Ninjas but I've been awaiting that game ever since I saw a video of its gameplay. I think it comes out sept 1. I'll know then by reviews whether or not I will finally purchase a new game for any system... probably will get mini ninjas on wii..

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 22 August 2009 14:10 (sixteen years ago)

I just got one of these recently, am iforry72 if anyone wants to add me. It's so noisy! I guess I will sign up for gold live soon as well.

if, Monday, 24 August 2009 22:09 (sixteen years ago)

I turned off the Mini Ninjas demo before it was over. Cute, but kinda boring imo

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 24 August 2009 22:21 (sixteen years ago)

if - depending on what size hard drive you got (if you got one), you can now install your games onto it to cut down on the noise a fair bit. Still need to put in the disc for a disc check, but it's probably worth it (50% percent less noise or so?).

Jeff LeVine, Monday, 24 August 2009 22:31 (sixteen years ago)

NHL '10 demo is dope. I think I'm going to buy my first hockey game since NHL '94!

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 03:44 (sixteen years ago)

ok wet demo? unsure. enjoyed it. hated the filmstock tricks, worried about the quicktime events aspect of the final stage but hmmmm

please link to them and breathe into a paper bag (jjjusten), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 07:19 (sixteen years ago)

I liked the red filmstock segment a lot! I think the quicktime events were a little dumb but also kinda fun. I'll probably rent that one.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Thursday, 27 August 2009 08:09 (sixteen years ago)

oh no, the red was cool, i was just meh towards the grain/cel damage tricks

A DOG, A BARREL... RIDICULOUS! (jjjusten), Thursday, 27 August 2009 14:44 (sixteen years ago)

Jeff - thanks for the advice! I had actually only played XBLA games at that point so hadn't even contended with full noise, will definitely use that trick now.

if, Thursday, 27 August 2009 16:09 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, it's a lot quieter if - and games load quicker too and play better ime

cozwn, Thursday, 27 August 2009 16:13 (sixteen years ago)

I only have a 20 gig hard drive, and I only have room to install one game (maybe two). It's a drag because the bigger 360 hard drives are absurdly expensive, but I do want to be able to install all my games (and/or possibly buy some of those complete downloads if they get anything good up there that i don't have). Not having to even put a disc in the 360 is my ideal.

Jeff LeVine, Thursday, 27 August 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

some games are nearly unplayable w/out installing - the framerate on mass effect and skate.2 after you've installed them is exponentially better

cozwn, Thursday, 27 August 2009 16:36 (sixteen years ago)

Not having to even put a disc in the 360 is my ideal

but you always need to put the disc in (for non-downloaded games), right?

Ømår Littel (Jordan), Thursday, 27 August 2009 19:13 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah you still need the disc in. I love it though, I haven't had a single disc-reading error since I started installing them on mine, and I used to get loads with certain games.

88, Thursday, 27 August 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

right, I was referring to the full "retail" 360 game downloads they've started to offer... Nothing I want on there yet (that I don't already have), but I imagine it won't be long until we're able to buy new games this way

I played Beatles Rock Band tonight. It's pretty much exactly what you think it would be. The songs are mostly easy, and the singing is arguably the highlight. It feels a little samey to sing nothing but the same band's songs, though.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:29 (sixteen years ago)

Advance copy?

Mordy, Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:30 (sixteen years ago)

My friend got a review copy, yeah.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

It was wrapped, so I think it's the retail version.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

He only got the disc and not the drums or guitars, though.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:32 (sixteen years ago)

I still can't wait to play it. It's THE BEATLES!

Mordy, Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:36 (sixteen years ago)

though i'm unlikely to get the chance, i'd really really really love to try out the multi-part vocal harmonies

related: i'm hoping someone I know picks up GHV so I can feebly attempt the drums on "Seven" by Sunny Day Real Estate

Nhex, Wednesday, 2 September 2009 07:39 (sixteen years ago)

Hmm, so gamestop are throwing in an extra three downloadable songs if you pre-order. But I'm in the UK. HOW DO I SHOT 3 FREE SONGS?

(Those mics I got with Lips might actually get some use once this arrives. Must buy more rechargeable batteries).

JimD, Wednesday, 2 September 2009 10:43 (sixteen years ago)

we made it to #2 on a few of the B:RB leaderboards. Such fleeting glory.

GM, Wednesday, 2 September 2009 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

Friend had B:RB party last night. At times, we had six people playing at once (and others singing along). We hit some of the three-part harmonies, which was frankly quite thrilling for a harmony stan like myself.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 12 September 2009 19:28 (sixteen years ago)

what you said sounds so nerdy but I bet it was fun

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 12 September 2009 23:07 (sixteen years ago)

There were too many girls at the party for it to be nerdy by videogame standards.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 12 September 2009 23:36 (sixteen years ago)

"girls"... "party"...

like we believe u

cozwn, Saturday, 12 September 2009 23:48 (sixteen years ago)

I wouldn't believe me either!

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Sunday, 13 September 2009 01:34 (sixteen years ago)
