LOL @ the ring ruins quest, which really isnt as well-telegraphed as it could be as part of the main quest so I just went and did the Mineru thing on my own BEFORE I triggered it.

And now I have Calip the nerd and Tauro the swole islander getting all excited about mysterious zonai ruins when I already know their purpose/end game haha. Why am I not telling them? Stupid. Still, at least I didnt know I was missing some cool armor sets from not having done this bit before now. Seems like its actually completely skippable which is a bit odd.

Funnily I'd been tooling about in Faron ages earlier and I spotted the statues and said "those look like lightning rods" .

didnt realize the deal with pristine weapons until after did everything lol

I'm getting the occasional pristine weapon from amiibo drops and chests. I'm too scared to use/waste them.

Oh, speaking of which do y'all know about the lava-octorok weapon boost?
This time round, instead of de-rusting old weapons, they suck them in, do some magic on them and spit them out with a boosted base HP. If you then take it to a 2nd octorok and do the same thing, it'll boost further. There's a chain of 3 or 4 'roks along the lakebed where the lizard lakes are at the north of death mountain. I tried it on a cobble crusher and got it from 5 to 16.

Lightning temple > water >> fire >>>> air

the climb to the wind temple is so epic though

Yeah the wind temple fly/bounce/fly was fun (once I worked out not to fight against the current lol)

For me it was:
Water>air>Lightning>fire.

Hated the fire temple. Straight up looked up a walkthrough bcs I just could not be arsed.But I loved the airy, low-grav weirdness of the water temple.

I appreciated that they didn't really care how you did the fire temple.

further weapons research gerudo weapons double the fuse power of anything theyre fused to, so if you get a pristine one in the gerudo depths and fuse it to a silver lynel horns itll have ~130 attack

Without telling me how to do it, is there a way of getting past the jobsworth guarding the fifth Kakariko village ring? If yes, does it require any special gear or items?

I could look it up online but I really only want a hint about how to get there if it's even possible, not to be told exactly how by a walkthrough

I haven't done it but I think you have to finish all four sages' quests first

I want to fuse something to my arrow before I dome this bokoblin but there's a nonsensically large and varied Perkins Menu of items here

u can sort in useful ways by pressing y

fun hover stone tech i discovered after like 100+ hours: if you fuse a hover stone to a weapon, you can throw it and the hover stone will de-fuse itself from the weapon to hover in midair

how? I havent been able to work out how to fuse non-pocketable things to arrows (like it'd be mega useful to be able to arrow-fuse a timebomb for Moldugas for eg)

the gacha capsules. when you're selecting an item to attach, one of the sorting options puts those first

ok i have 129 shrines and finally got the soldier armor. prob time to go fight ganon.

i always over-prepare to fight ganon, a reflex from my first ocarina of time playthrough when i ran out of magic potion and had to reload the save file lol

I think I'm too uninventive to make the most of this game, like I forget to build homing carts to help w big fights or to stick stuff to shields, just basic things

And I keep getting angry at the star-flower island waaay above lookout landing bc I can't figure out a way up and it's my last of those islands to get and it's taunting me

me too, I make so little use of my devices. It feels like the game mechanics could have leaned a little harder into requiring inventive device use, though tbh I'm already a bit overwhelmed by everything there is to do.

not gonna say more than this, but they did a pretty good job of making the ganon fight actually difficult, as opposed to the breath of the wild fight which was a joke!

I also dont use devices much. Heck I'll go all the way back to a stable to get my damn horse when I could just quickbuild a grass skiff or a little wheelycart, but I just never think to.

I mainly just build the wing/fans/steering stick thing or the dirigible to get up really high. An occasional boat. All the other stuff is cool, but I don't have the patience for it. So much rotating objects in space.

Speaking of balloons reminds me : are the black areas on the depths map completely inaccessible, ie stuck to the "roof" and can't be climbed over? I think I have been futilely trying to climb walls I shouldn't bother. I know they correspond to deeper bodies of water. I ran into issues because I was trying to find the lightroot corresponding to the shrine next to Duelling Peaks stable. It seems either there isn't one, or I cant find it.

As far as combat contraptions go, I have an Autobuild favorite that I'll drop in sometimes, it helps. Looking forward to having more battery to truly melt things.

Yunobo on a vehicle has no cooldown apparently, could be a fun way to take down a big guy.

Was exploring and accidentally went to the last battle unprepared. Lost in the second demon ganondorf phase. MF’er.

Ok the last part of getting the master sword was one of the most mf'ing epic things I've ever done in a game.

I eventually got the schema for the 'autobuddy' autobuild or whatever it's called - the one built from a homing cart + stabiliser + flamethrower - and found it super handy for battles with lots of enemies.

I finished most of the quests and the main story on the weekend. The despair and darkness in the last stretch before the final boss felt oppressive and interminable and losing access to the sages made it even more uncomfortable.

And that last stretch felt super long and very tense! By the time I got to the real battles I was actually shaking from the build-up and the pressure, like did I bring enough healing items? If I die how far back do I have to start from? Do I have to go through the unpleasant doom tunnel again? Or am I stuck here forever? etc

Fight was challenging but not insurmountable. Ganon v2's health bar extending across the screen was a great touch, did not expect that. Also OF COURSE Ganon was going to eat his stone and go dragon, but I am slow and completely didn't even consider that until it was happening, but I'm kind of grateful for that because it was a cool surprise.

The whole endgame experience was weirdly really emotional for me, but maybe that's just what happens after 80? 100? 120? hours of investment.
