Holy shit this new trailer. I really wasn't going to play this, I do not have time, but ...

lol I know! When I played BOTW I was home during the pandemic and had the time to get lost in it. I'm going to have to play this in thirty minute segments every night with an alarm to make myself get to bed on time.

My Switch is kinda gathering dust, and my Playstation backlog is huuuuuuge, but I had such a good time with BOTW that it will be hard to resist. Still, the time before I get to it allows all the nerds to figure out many of the secrets and tricks, which I have no problem with. In fact, at this point it's tradition: I had the original NES, and I beat the original Zelda, but I could not have done it without the (printed! published! possibly mail-ordered!) guide.

Those constant disclaimers are hilarious.

Looks cool, like the perfect match of design/material and (relatively limited) console technology. Which makes sense, its predecessor basically perfected open world exploration.

My son and i were trying to ponder how many thousands of hours of footage are going to be on youtube 1 hour after it's released.

I don't know if it's good or bad but he's going to know everything about it within a week.

i recommend looking at as little stuff as possible until you've played the game for like 30 hours

A friend of mine bought a Switch maybe a year ago, and I'm pretty sure I convinced him to buy Breath of the Wild right off the bat. He finally got around to starting it today, and gave me a call with his mind blown. Of course he was overwhelmed, so I told him to doof around for many hours and then when he hits a wall do a quick Google to get over the hump. Compared to impenetrable stuff like Dark Souls or lots of Metroidvanias, it's actually not that bad, considering doing nothing is one of the most important things you can do in Zelda.

The gentle learning curb is one of the best parts.

the idea of someone buying a switch without getting that game is weird but i guess it can happen now that theres 6 years worth of other games and not 1 or 2

yeah i was briefly perplexed to see it on the anime torrent site earlier when i was looking for something else. zelda is anime confirmed

i preordered a physical copy so i'm half-expecting that i won't be able to play it on release day

all the big online retailers have always managed to ship me switch games on day 1 but this one is probably a busier release than any of the ones i preordered

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is more than double the size of the original game. It has long, engaging side missions that feed into the main story. I mainlined the story in 60 hours and I’m not even close to half finishing it.

The WaPo guy in that tweet claimed to have cruised straight through the main story, and *that* is what took him 60 hours.
