I'm unemployed and looking for a job, I'm not sure if this is coming out at the best or the worst possible moment

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 15:13 (three years ago)

heh

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 15:14 (three years ago)

i think the only way to manage it is some sort of rewards system (identify a possible job opp, reward with a shrine, update a section of the resume, shrine, 20 minutes straight of trying to find a job and failing, shrine). however, i have never successfully implemented this system for longer than a day. signed, unemployed happy guy

complete a shrine, drink

break a weapon, drink

actually, don't do that. zelda would kill millions of people that way

zelda is out of control she must be stopped

ciderpress, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 17:25 (three years ago)

i think this game is going to be great botw was amazing even tho it often wasnt that good as a game where it seems like they stepped up the game stuff with this one, lord willing it will have dungeons

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 17:31 (three years ago)

In the sky!

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 17:38 (three years ago)

seems like theres going to be underground stuff too i mean theres def going to be underground stuff theyve shown the caves we just dont know how deep it goes

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 17:39 (three years ago)

idk i am still skeptical that it will have dungeons i'll believe it when i see it. i do miss the dungeons though, you need a lot of cool overworld setpieces to make up for their absence and botw barely managed it

ciderpress, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 17:57 (three years ago)

one thing people (youtubers) picked up from the trailers is theres clearly two sets of powers one whos icons are lil pictures of the power and one that look like japanese characters, you could assume that one set is picked up in the tutorial area but then where do the other set come from, dungeons?

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 18:03 (three years ago)

I worry that I'll miss the amazing newness of experiencing BOTW for the first time, and that this sequel will just seem like a larger-than-usual DLC.

But as my therapist says, "stop anticipating what you're going to worry about, and worry about it when it actually happens" (or something)

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 18:08 (three years ago)

my theory is there are dungeons and you get an apostrophe from the goddess hylia every time you beat one

c u (crüt), Tuesday, 11 April 2023 21:50 (three years ago)

yeah those are prob the lil vials link carries on his hip that serve as the battery for the vehicles you build the more tears the further you can go which is a common formulation from life that we all know

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 22:11 (three years ago)

it could be that you get a power midway through the dungeon then use it to complete it where you get the tear which would be in the style of classic zelda dungeons

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 April 2023 22:17 (three years ago)

Holy shit thats so obvious given the title, how'd I not spot it haha.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Tuesday, 11 April 2023 23:55 (three years ago)

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 13:20 (three years ago)

Using the Heroes Path mode to find all kinds of things I hadn’t discovered. It’s amazing how much is in this game. Last night I found the bowling with snowballs cabin.

Cow_Art, Thursday, 13 April 2023 13:21 (three years ago)

its awesome to find new stuff i hope theres even more stuff in the new game

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 13:25 (three years ago)

As I wander i’m wearing the korok mask. I’m not trying to get 900, but those lil fuckers are everywhere! Do they ever show up inside shrines? I can’t remember.

Cow_Art, Thursday, 13 April 2023 13:41 (three years ago)

naw

the game should have mario in the corner of the HUD like that, just to remind you of mario

ciderpress, Thursday, 13 April 2023 15:30 (three years ago)

its a me in the corner

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 15:36 (three years ago)

Watched the new trailer and learned Link is the final hope (spoilers).

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 13 April 2023 15:50 (three years ago)

thats a lot of responsibility

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 15:54 (three years ago)

Link must confront Zelda and ask her to please stop crying. "there is no crying in Zelda, please"

sporadic play-by-play of the Mets-Dodgers series and "money currently on Dodgers" in the corner

Cinta Kaz is comin' to town (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:10 (three years ago)

i think on a long enough timeline they eventually make a zelda game that has like a surprise section where you play as zelda for a while like halfway through the game but its funny just how resilient they have been to the idea. also the botw nonlinear progression model kinda prevents stuff like that

ciderpress, Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:16 (three years ago)

i also hope they make another 2d zelda someday, they did it with metroid which has me hopeful

ciderpress, Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:17 (three years ago)

lot of people were speculating on playable zelda in this one but idk

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:17 (three years ago)

smash ultimate has soured me against playable zelda, she was so gd annoying

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:22 (three years ago)

i think its good to keep the tension of never having her playable even tho the game is named after her

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 April 2023 16:24 (three years ago)

can i set the camera at a crazy dutch angle when link is diving out of the sky like in the trailer

c u (crüt), Friday, 14 April 2023 00:52 (three years ago)

Holy shit this new trailer. I really wasn't going to play this, I do not have time, but ...

lol I know! When I played BOTW I was home during the pandemic and had the time to get lost in it. I'm going to have to play this in thirty minute segments every night with an alarm to make myself get to bed on time.

Adulting suuuuucks

Cow_Art, Friday, 14 April 2023 10:22 (three years ago)

My Switch is kinda gathering dust, and my Playstation backlog is huuuuuuge, but I had such a good time with BOTW that it will be hard to resist. Still, the time before I get to it allows all the nerds to figure out many of the secrets and tricks, which I have no problem with. In fact, at this point it's tradition: I had the original NES, and I beat the original Zelda, but I could not have done it without the (printed! published! possibly mail-ordered!) guide.

gameplay reviews are out, looks pretty fn sick

Those constant disclaimers are hilarious.

Looks cool, like the perfect match of design/material and (relatively limited) console technology. Which makes sense, its predecessor basically perfected open world exploration.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 26 April 2023 16:55 (three years ago)

My son and i were trying to ponder how many thousands of hours of footage are going to be on youtube 1 hour after it's released.

I don't know if it's good or bad but he's going to know everything about it within a week.

joygoat, Wednesday, 26 April 2023 18:51 (three years ago)

i recommend looking at as little stuff as possible until you've played the game for like 30 hours

ciderpress, Wednesday, 26 April 2023 18:53 (three years ago)

A friend of mine bought a Switch maybe a year ago, and I'm pretty sure I convinced him to buy Breath of the Wild right off the bat. He finally got around to starting it today, and gave me a call with his mind blown. Of course he was overwhelmed, so I told him to doof around for many hours and then when he hits a wall do a quick Google to get over the hump. Compared to impenetrable stuff like Dark Souls or lots of Metroidvanias, it's actually not that bad, considering doing nothing is one of the most important things you can do in Zelda.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 26 April 2023 20:01 (three years ago)

The gentle learning curb is one of the best parts.
