The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I paid zero attention to video games for decades and only got into BOTW about a year ago so this pre-release hype is all new to me.

I'm assuming there will be a shitload of people sprinting to finish the game ASAP for internet glory? How long would something like that take to do?

i mean i'm sure at least one person will but these games are open and dont have much story to spoil so people will take their time

dont think ive touched it since 2017 honestly, despite never finishing it. i think thats fine tho

i tried and failed several times to do the trials to get the motorcycle, that was probably the last thing i did on it

sad for you guys that you never got to ride the motorcycle that you never got to gas it up with raw meat

not being able to save during it is what made it frustrating

ascend power looks pretty goofy

they had to do something about the climbing raining situation

maybe they took out rain entirely but the catch is that hyrule slowly becomes an arid wasteland

maybe i'll understand the point of the mechanic better when i play it but i have to imagine there was a better solution for getting on top of stuff in a game largely about exploration than to slowly warp through the ceiling. odd choice for a feature to highlight. why not just bring back the grappling hook thing

Okay I was gonna defend Ascend. Then I saw someone say it was created because people thought climbing was boring. Climbing was my clear favorite part of BOTW. Never Ascend.

no this is part of the beauty of climbing, it's like life, goals that seem achievable and then slip out of reach, or vice versa

If Nintendo based new features off of BotW videos, there will be some serious sicko shit with the Yiga Clan

Also rain climbing sucks so much, I keep thinking there would be some element of clothing or recipe that let you climb in the rain but fuck no

Speaking of towers, I assume sheika towers wont be the way maps unlock in this, given that's happened already. Unless this is set before BoTW... still isnt clear on that. The reverseo-chango skill has me wondering.

Finally watched that video, new game (mechanics) look awesome. I rarely play my Switch, but will def. (eventually) get this.

I'm unemployed and looking for a job, I'm not sure if this is coming out at the best or the worst possible moment

i think the only way to manage it is some sort of rewards system (identify a possible job opp, reward with a shrine, update a section of the resume, shrine, 20 minutes straight of trying to find a job and failing, shrine). however, i have never successfully implemented this system for longer than a day. signed, unemployed happy guy

i think this game is going to be great botw was amazing even tho it often wasnt that good as a game where it seems like they stepped up the game stuff with this one, lord willing it will have dungeons

I’m playing Echoes of Wisdom and it’s not quite up to ToTK but it’s a lot of fun regardless. Didn’t like the art style initially but I’ve warmed to it now. Really enjoy the echo mechanic.

I loved BotW so much, and I have just never found motivation/time to get to ToTK. After a couple years I've still barely started!

...you know, I just realised I never finished TOTK. I got a bit lost in the depths under the castle, irritated, gave up, then got busy with other shit. I must get back into it.

If I hadn’t spent so much time with BOTW, I probably would have enjoyed TOTK more. But after a while the above and below ground aspects felt formulaic, and the world itself was a rejiggered BOTW which I was burnt out on. The ending and the final fight was loads better though. Never felt compelled to go back and try to get all the stuff or anything.

I should clarify: where I stopped was the end boss under castle part. I've done the rest (90% I'unno) of the main quest.

Actually recently, due to some immense life stresses, I've been idly picking at Animal Crossing because my brain can't cope with anything else.
