i dunno, I feel like Nintendo always comes up with crazy new controller concepts, that's their thing! Gamecube was wacky, Wii was crazy, etc.

Piven After Midnight (The Yellow Kid), Thursday, 3 March 2022 19:56 (four years ago)

yeah nintendo continued to do wacky stuff but ps/xbox/etc has remained pretty much the same, i guess the addition of motion controls via the wii was the last big addition, and now the switch is basically a standard controller w a screen in the middle

lag∞n, Thursday, 3 March 2022 20:35 (four years ago)

so far triangle strategy feels like 5% gameplay, 95% unnecessary exposition

aegis philbin (crüt), Saturday, 5 March 2022 15:13 (four years ago)

I was hoping for ff tactics2. Not so much?

i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Saturday, 5 March 2022 15:27 (four years ago)

triangle strategy

ciderpress, Saturday, 5 March 2022 15:52 (four years ago)

strategy = talking to villagers
tactics = casting spells

lag∞n, Saturday, 5 March 2022 15:54 (four years ago)

this! it would be called triangle tactics if it was a fft-like

ciderpress, Saturday, 5 March 2022 15:57 (four years ago)

most of the reviews say its a good storygame but only an okay tactics game, which would make it more of a fire emblem-like

ciderpress, Saturday, 5 March 2022 16:04 (four years ago)

the nintendo switch, when playing mobile, looks like a pair of wrist shackles. combined with a Skip-It, you are fun's prisoner.

pickle loaf (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 10 March 2022 18:22 (four years ago)

^^^THIS. Slay the Spire rules but feels like a gateway drug in retrospect.

Just discovered Super Mario 3D World again. It's been on my Switch since the day it came out, only played once. It's fucken good!

Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 12 March 2022 19:13 (four years ago)

Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 19 March 2022 19:30 (four years ago)

I played it a ton with my son on the Wii U - is there a reason to get Bowser's Fury? I'm not really clear on if it's the same game or not.

And yes, I agree it's excellent - maybe the best sidescrolling (sort of) Mario there is?

frogbs, Saturday, 19 March 2022 20:02 (four years ago)

Ninja Hideaway mario kart is nuts

Michael Flatley's (Sufjan Grafton), Saturday, 19 March 2022 20:07 (four years ago)

Bowser's Fury is like a 3D World DLC, it's very good. Apparently it takes about 4 hours to finish if you're a games journalist, so I'm guessing a couple weeks for a normal person.

Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 19 March 2022 20:33 (four years ago)

yeah its good but not full length, prob only worth buying if you want to play 3d world more

lag∞n, Saturday, 19 March 2022 20:37 (four years ago)

Playing the Witcher 3 on Lite. Like having a steak dinner through a straw.

brisk money (lukas), Saturday, 19 March 2022 20:51 (four years ago)

Ninja Hideaway is really the star of the first Mario Kart dlc batch. Having a bunch based on cities is a fun concept too though.

I forgot how punishing 150cc is in this game (for me anyway). I never did manage to find an ideal character/cart combo for that mode.

salsa shark, Sunday, 20 March 2022 18:46 (four years ago)

ninja highway is fantastic

nxd, Sunday, 20 March 2022 20:33 (four years ago)

I’ve been sucked into playing MarioKart Tour for the last couple years. It’s cool to see some of the tracks from there getting the full Switch treatment.

DJI, Monday, 21 March 2022 00:54 (four years ago)

Was gonna say wasn't that track on the mobile version? That's cool

Nhex, Monday, 21 March 2022 13:01 (four years ago)

I’m so used to 2 laps per race now I keep forgetting to keep racing for the third lap 😜

DJI, Monday, 21 March 2022 15:05 (four years ago)

Anyone played pikmin 3 deluxe? Currently considering whether it is worth $30AUD.

hrep (H.P), Tuesday, 22 March 2022 00:39 (four years ago)

The demo was fun. It's barely different from Pikmin 1, just better graphics. If you want Pikmin, it's exactly what you want, but no surprises.

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 23 March 2022 10:35 (four years ago)

Zelda delayed into 2023

looking forward to kirby once i finish my already in progress games

ciderpress, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 14:39 (four years ago)

why can they just make dis zelda game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 14:44 (four years ago)

i personally would just make the game

lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 14:48 (four years ago)

the developers are trying to find elden ring

we are all trying to find it

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 14:52 (four years ago)

nintendo: the release date of zelda has been pushed back while we work diligently to make link more depressed

lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 March 2022 14:54 (four years ago)

elden ring is the sourpuss larry bird to zelda's affable magic johnson in this duel. they should lean into it.

Michael Flatley's (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 15:33 (four years ago)

lag∞n is kurt rambis w/ the specs right there in the dn

Michael Flatley's (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 29 March 2022 15:35 (four years ago)

I can't imagine Switch Sports being a better party game than Shredder's Revenge

Herby Dutch Baby (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 17 June 2022 21:08 (three years ago)

haven't played either, but having played the predecessors of each, i would guess it very much depends on who is attending the party. Shredders revenge = people who enjoyed playing old beat em ups in the arcade, Switch Sports = everyone who is willing to play a game

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Friday, 17 June 2022 22:12 (three years ago)

i say all this hypothetically, as someone who attended a party about 24 years ago

Bruce Stingbean (Karl Malone), Friday, 17 June 2022 22:13 (three years ago)

party games arent really played at parties right it just means there are more than two people playing a game

lag∞n, Friday, 17 June 2022 22:52 (three years ago)

I've been playing my Switch for the first time in months, and I know it's partly because the games aren't huge, but it's so snappy, the UI is great, and the pro controller's battery rules.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 17 June 2022 23:10 (three years ago)

I got Shredder’s Revenge on thee Switch and am hoping to have some buds get in on it this weekend. Played through it last night then did a few online matches. It’s cool that 6 players is an option but in practice it’s just kinda pure chaos and you spend half the time trying to find where you are.

Great presentation, but mechanically seems sloppier and a lil less engaging than Streets of Rage 4 (same publisher). Still a good time.

circa1916, Saturday, 18 June 2022 03:16 (three years ago)

I had no idea it had online multi, I might have to rustle up some buds
