botw2 is already announced its just a matter of whether they have new stuff to show yet

I never played that on Wii so am good w/that. (Could have used Twilight Princess though, for the very niche reason that our Amiibo wolf link has only three hearts and there's no other way to increase them)

uh, one of the three main kingdoms is called the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, and it has voice acting, and she says "Ass-frost"

the voice acting is horrible. it's just a demo, but this is what passes as voice acting in most games, so. i will never understand why videogame companies don't hire real voice actors

Because they don’t want to have to pay SAG scale or residuals. (I forget if SAG won residuals after they struck against the big studios.) It’s usually nonunion talent.

but what about like, local community colleges or high schools? i'm sure a lot of students would jump at the chance to be paid like $200 an hour or whatever the cheap-ass rate would be for a voice actor.

In most videogames, it sounds like the friends of the developers (or the developers themselves) are the voice actors

i do like when there's option to hear the dialogue in Japanese or any other language on the universe other than English, because that helps to cover the acting up

Splatoon 2 has been getting great discounts this past few months if you caught 'em ($28 from GameStop on BF! amazing for a first-party Nintendo title), this might've had something to do with it

interested to see how much new it brings to the table, nintendo doesnt usually double up on multiplayer games in a console generation but i guess splatoon is too popular to not refresh

i still havent played the dlc campaign for 2 despite hearing great things about it

Yeah Skyward Sword is the last 3D Zelda with no forward-porting at all. I suspect we’ll get Ocarina and Majora HD at some point too, and then maybe Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD will finally come to switch.

oh yeah, i totally forgot that was on Wii U. surprisingly, Wii U's are not as cheap to acquire as one might hope

Never played SS the first time round so i might give it a crack.

WW I'm not so fussed about, as I have a WiiU so I have the HD port they already did.

Occarina would be nice, the 3DS version is hard to play o such a small screen (I hate the way the camera focus works in it too)

Octopath Tactics looks amazing

i got my kids all pumped up for the splatoon 3 trailer - they're big splatoon fans - and they were getting more and more hyped as it played and then at the end in big red numbers: 2022 which is like 100 years away when you're six years old

I thought the direct was supposed to be about stuff in the first half of 2021?

they always say that to temper expectations and then show some further off stuff anyway

I've only played Splatoon 2 a tiny bit, since I don't have online, and it was fun, but boy, Splatoon 3 being the thing "further away" to look forward to really does temper my exceptions even more, since I don't want it or pretty much anything else teased or announced. Which is fine, because I have plenty of games to play as it is, but still sort of innately disappointing, since I do like my Switch but have already been let down by a pretty uninspiring slate the last year or so. It's all about the indies for me, as usual.
