Yeah I dipped back into this last night to try some new ones, will give some feedback in a few days on some

but I like the sound of those ones mentioned above
I remember playing Don't Move on newgrounds.

Jam and the Mystery of the Mysteriously Spooky Mansion is a funny short VN game, very absurd. Make sure you get the Spoiler-light walkthrough in Downloads to see all the ending combinations when you eventually run out of 'em.

Tried Lenna's Inception tonight, pretty fun and good concept (roguelike Zelda inspired by Link randomizers), wish I could get my gamepad working on Mac though.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 09:03 (five years ago)
Ethereal is a pretty good abstract puzzle game. I saw it reviewed here: http://blog.zarfhome.com/2020/11/a-shut-in-years-worth-of-puzzle-games.html

my christmas holiday, completely no-stress, choice. had seen screenshots over indie-gaming twitter at the time. it's nice. would've been better at halloween because there's a very slight spooky feel to it.
― koogs, Thursday, 24 December 2020 13:20 (five years ago)
finished that.
writing nice enough that i went back and played all 6 alternatives for the stick-passing bit (and they are all different) and am wondering what else i'm missing)
― koogs, Thursday, 24 December 2020 22:26 (five years ago)
And now into A Short Hike, which is anything but short. Run (climb, fly) around an island doing tasks. Looks great and fun to explore but all very samey so hard to navigate. So much easier with a joystick.
― koogs, Saturday, 26 December 2020 06:30 (five years ago)
Finished A Short Hike, at least the main task (get to top of hill). Walkthroughs mention half a dozen side tasks that I didn't do so I might dip back into it.
Downloaded Nuclear Throne but got segment violation when running it. Something something 32 bit ELF. Might reboot into windows and give it a go there. Looks a lot more frantic than the last two.
Might spin up pico8 if I get inspired, looks a nice little system and a novel way of sharing your creations.
― koogs, Monday, 28 December 2020 23:19 (five years ago)
Are you on Mac?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 December 2020 00:25 (five years ago)
Linux. But I can dual boot into windows if I'm desperate. And I have the work Mac at home due to pandemic, so I have options.
― koogs, Tuesday, 29 December 2020 04:43 (five years ago)
> great that pico-8 was on this, really enjoyed creating a very very bad manic miner/ chuckie egg platform game> thomasintrouble, Saturday, June 13, 2020 11:23 PM
my first attempt, a work in progress (needs more structures, coins), but playable, 3d ant attack without the ants, or the attack. and 2d.
http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/ant.html
c to runleft and right to rotateup and down to rotate view
all of the current 11 coins are collectable, only 89 to add...

Added ants (for Tom)
8)
― koogs, Monday, 18 January 2021 18:38 (five years ago)
I wouldn't say the ants were the problem, much rather the janky hand-grenade throwing mechanism you had to wrestle with.
― Two Meter Peter (Ste), Monday, 18 January 2021 21:00 (five years ago)
currently writing a map editor because having to convert binary representation of column to decimal and then pick that tile from the relevant page of tiles is a chore. it's ok when they are all 1, 3, 7, 15, 31s but anything else...
the ants mentioned above are only the ant graphics, there are no actual ants. i'm going to add an ant statue in the middle, for variety.
i fixed the tearing that happens when you run in certain directions. problem was me being an idiot, updating player position exactly halfway through a frame.
― koogs, Monday, 18 January 2021 22:13 (five years ago)
i love it koogs! i got 9 of 11, and i think i figured out how to get to the last 2
― Karl Malone, Monday, 18 January 2021 22:25 (five years ago)
ok, stopped working on that for the moment to do a willy clone for a friend's birthday. here's a sample level (2 screens from 16). get the candle. warning: difficult.
http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/wally.htmlkeys are left and right cursors and c to jump
graphics are taken from one of the icon packs from the bundle (which was handy).
it's got proper x-acceleration and gravity, unlike manic miner / willy, which means the jumps are more variable - willy had one arch he followed, this depends on how fast you are going when you jump. it's really annoying!
― koogs, Thursday, 11 February 2021 21:09 (five years ago)
ha, brutal. I think my neighbours heard me when I missed the jump over that second star.
― Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 11 February 2021 22:59 (five years ago)
but i got that fkng candle
― Two Meter Peter (Ste), Thursday, 11 February 2021 23:15 (five years ago)
too hard?
i've just added a count of lives and done an end-to-end run-through of all 16 levels and it took about 10 minutes and 22 attempts. (manic miner gave you 3 for 20 levels, and had you collecting more things, but, as noted, was more controllable. also, it's harder because the sprites are fatter so the margins are tighter)
one bug i want to squash before it's done and that's the way you can walk over a two-space gap at speed - the velocity thing means it's using fractional positions but the grid is strictly 8x8 and sometimes you're over it, by a fraction of a pixel, before it realises. (same problem means you can stand on a collapsing block and it doesn't collapse)

For $5 to charity, I'll jump in, but there's so much stuff in there. Is any of it worth actually playing?
― Nhex, Saturday, 5 June 2021 22:54 (five years ago)
i scrolled through the Linux compatible games and the things that jumped out were all repeats of things in the earlier bundle - minit, all cats are liquid, pikuniku. but minit is worth the $5 alone
― koogs, Sunday, 6 June 2021 00:44 (five years ago)
Cosmic Express is really good. It's kind of like the "Tracks" pencil & paper game but with an ordering element.
― wasdnuos (abanana), Wednesday, 9 June 2021 00:07 (five years ago)
cityglitch is a decently fun single-screen puzzler. bout to hit that point where i'm too dumb to solve the levels
― Nhex, Sunday, 19 September 2021 21:12 (four years ago)
good stuff!
― adam t. (abanana), Monday, 20 September 2021 05:55 (four years ago)
thanks for the reminder that I own this bundle, need to dip into again.
― Sorry, but that is how I feel (Ste), Monday, 20 September 2021 11:03 (four years ago)
not the bundle itself, but a twitter account that highlights indie games with a similar feel to a lot of things in the bundle
https://twitter.com/PursuingPixels
(mostly likns to his youtube channel)
he's recently, ahead of creator day on itch.io, done a rundown of 100 picks
― koogs, Tuesday, 30 November 2021 10:12 (four years ago)
he seems to favour retro puzzle platformers, but i have no problem with that
― koogs, Tuesday, 30 November 2021 10:13 (four years ago)
looks interesting. thanks.
― adam t. (abanana), Tuesday, 30 November 2021 16:16 (four years ago)
i like that account and wish I still had the energy/drive/time to dive into that stuff

smaller games by the looks and little, if any, overlap. (i dont think i've actually downloaded anything from the ukraine bundle yet)
https://randombundlegame.com/ is already updated
― koogs, Monday, 4 July 2022 10:39 (three years ago)
(having said there's no overlap, the first thing i clicked on i already owned and the second thing i clicked on i already owned twice!)
― koogs, Monday, 4 July 2022 11:59 (three years ago)
There's a second abortion bundle too right?I laud the effort here but there's so much junk in these, they need to lead with the more popular titles in there so there's some attraction
