"finished" minit, but not 100%. might work through the walkthrough or might pick one of the other 1703 games...
― koogs, Friday, 19 June 2020 17:37 (five years ago)
Saw that LYNE is in the bundle, nice puzzle game from many years back.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:10 (five years ago)
following, I bought this but have done nothing yet except DL Wisp
― sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:14 (five years ago)
any dumb car racing games? there used to be this great one for older pre-Intel Macs where you got chased by cops and could destroy them with missiles and bombs
― sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:15 (five years ago)
Spy Hunter?
― Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:58 (five years ago)
maybe? there were different levels with, like, snow/ice or water levels where you were a boat, really nice motion dynamics?
― sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 00:59 (five years ago)
(apologies if you were suggesting one of the bundle games, I will look)
really nice motion dynamics
lol probably not: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_Hunter
― Learned Leeegue (Leee), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 01:01 (five years ago)
Also see Action Fighter, similar to Spy Hunter. In the arcades, but I hammered it on my old Amiga when I got it free with a magazine
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:43 (five years ago)
(not on the bundle unfortunately)
I've not come across any decent driving games on this yet
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 07:44 (five years ago)
How about no wheels racing?
― Evan, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 11:42 (five years ago)
oh there was something, Vienna Automobile Society.
Not your normal racing game. Basically all you do is choose the approach point for the bends on a track, the car drives around itself, to give yourself the best exit speed I presume. It's not great, interesting idea though.
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:17 (five years ago)
Going to try out Wheels of Aurelia, looks like a race/narrative crossover.
Also Vektor 2089 looks like a decent 2d dop down Wipeout type racer.
And non-racing, I love Trawl but not sure why. And it needs to be longer.
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:27 (five years ago)
yeah I saw a recommendation for Wheels Of Aurelia from Morday maybe?
thanks, all!
― sleeve, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:28 (five years ago)
uh Mordy ofc
not from me! but sounds cool i'll take a look too.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 15:29 (five years ago)
got ending G, looks like there are 16 endings(or maybe more, just that it had a 1/16 after the G)It's rather delightful.
so the car drives by itself but you can go faster which will stop it turning by itself and will also enable you to avoid picking up hitchhikers.
whilst you're driving you get to engage in chit chat, using the mouse wheel to choose your responses, but you can say nothing.
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:11 (five years ago)
oh there's the occasional fork in the road
i generally keep to the right
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 23 June 2020 16:19 (five years ago)
Vektor 2089 is a force! Don't try and play with anything higher than 120cc tho.
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 19:47 (five years ago)
Anodyne not's bad, in a retro-zelda kinda way.
― Ste, Tuesday, 23 June 2020 20:51 (five years ago)
Another vote for Minit. Whole thing's a couple of hours. Only had to look up a solution once, thankfully. Not gonna go back for all the secrets though (though I ended up one coin short of being able to buy the speed boots)
― Nhex, Tuesday, 7 July 2020 06:02 (five years ago)
The speed boots were underused imo. Could've opened up a bunch of extra gameplay with them but as far as I know they were needed for only 2 optional bits.
― koogs, Tuesday, 7 July 2020 06:28 (five years ago)
currently playing Hidden Folks.
https://adriaan.itch.io/hidden-folks
it's bascially Where's Wally / Waldo, only animated and interactive.
previous to that was Don't Move.
https://stvr.itch.io/dont-move
which is a single screen game where you get achievements by moving left and right (or, spoiler, but probably not as it's *in the title*, not moving left or right). spent a lot of it wondering if i was playing it right...
― koogs, Sunday, 26 July 2020 16:51 (five years ago)
played the delightful Wide Ocean, Big Jacket last week. It's a short (1-2 hour) story game about a camping trip with good writing and some nice, relaxing wandering around sections. There's also a 20 minute or so demo prequel with no gameplay overlap that is worth playing too.
― Judi Dench's Human Hand (methanietanner), Sunday, 26 July 2020 17:30 (five years ago)
OK I have a super dumb question: are these all PC-only? I don't care if they are, good cause and all, but the one I've tried had an exe file.
― sleeve, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 01:32 (five years ago)

any Mac recommendations are appreciated, gonna try this Forever Lost thing
― sleeve, Wednesday, 29 July 2020 02:30 (five years ago)
Yeah I dipped back into this last night to try some new ones, will give some feedback in a few days on some
― Two Meter Peter (Ste), Wednesday, 29 July 2020 08:03 (five years ago)
but I like the sound of those ones mentioned above
I remember playing Don't Move on newgrounds.
― wasdnous (abanana), Wednesday, 29 July 2020 10:47 (five years ago)
Jam and the Mystery of the Mysteriously Spooky Mansion is a funny short VN game, very absurd. Make sure you get the Spoiler-light walkthrough in Downloads to see all the ending combinations when you eventually run out of 'em.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 11 August 2020 11:11 (five years ago)
Tried Lenna's Inception tonight, pretty fun and good concept (roguelike Zelda inspired by Link randomizers), wish I could get my gamepad working on Mac though.
― Nhex, Tuesday, 18 August 2020 09:03 (five years ago)
Ethereal is a pretty good abstract puzzle game. I saw it reviewed here: http://blog.zarfhome.com/2020/11/a-shut-in-years-worth-of-puzzle-games.html

my christmas holiday, completely no-stress, choice. had seen screenshots over indie-gaming twitter at the time. it's nice. would've been better at halloween because there's a very slight spooky feel to it.
― koogs, Thursday, 24 December 2020 13:20 (five years ago)
finished that.
writing nice enough that i went back and played all 6 alternatives for the stick-passing bit (and they are all different) and am wondering what else i'm missing)
― koogs, Thursday, 24 December 2020 22:26 (five years ago)
And now into A Short Hike, which is anything but short. Run (climb, fly) around an island doing tasks. Looks great and fun to explore but all very samey so hard to navigate. So much easier with a joystick.
― koogs, Saturday, 26 December 2020 06:30 (five years ago)
Finished A Short Hike, at least the main task (get to top of hill). Walkthroughs mention half a dozen side tasks that I didn't do so I might dip back into it.
Downloaded Nuclear Throne but got segment violation when running it. Something something 32 bit ELF. Might reboot into windows and give it a go there. Looks a lot more frantic than the last two.
Might spin up pico8 if I get inspired, looks a nice little system and a novel way of sharing your creations.
― koogs, Monday, 28 December 2020 23:19 (five years ago)
Are you on Mac?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 December 2020 00:25 (five years ago)
Linux. But I can dual boot into windows if I'm desperate. And I have the work Mac at home due to pandemic, so I have options.
― koogs, Tuesday, 29 December 2020 04:43 (five years ago)
> great that pico-8 was on this, really enjoyed creating a very very bad manic miner/ chuckie egg platform game> thomasintrouble, Saturday, June 13, 2020 11:23 PM
my first attempt, a work in progress (needs more structures, coins), but playable, 3d ant attack without the ants, or the attack. and 2d.
http://www.koogy.clara.co.uk/ant.html
c to runleft and right to rotateup and down to rotate view
all of the current 11 coins are collectable, only 89 to add...

― koogs, Monday, 4 July 2022 10:07 (three years ago)
smaller games by the looks and little, if any, overlap. (i dont think i've actually downloaded anything from the ukraine bundle yet)
https://randombundlegame.com/ is already updated
― koogs, Monday, 4 July 2022 10:39 (three years ago)
(having said there's no overlap, the first thing i clicked on i already owned and the second thing i clicked on i already owned twice!)
― koogs, Monday, 4 July 2022 11:59 (three years ago)
There's a second abortion bundle too right?I laud the effort here but there's so much junk in these, they need to lead with the more popular titles in there so there's some attraction
― Nhex, Monday, 4 July 2022 19:43 (three years ago)
VERY highly recommend checking out Hypnospace Outlaw!

Any thoughts on this one?
― Rabbity Gainsborough (Leee), Monday, 16 January 2023 18:24 (three years ago)
Looks great. I own all but 2 of them and I still bought it. The only ones I think I've completed are the blackwell games and shivah, and they were very well done.
― adam t. (abanana), Tuesday, 17 January 2023 23:32 (three years ago)
Similar boat; I've bought most of them in bundles, only played The Shivah though. That was good enough to give me years of faith in the developer.
― Nhex, Wednesday, 18 January 2023 06:16 (three years ago)
Booted up Gemini Rue and I'm pretty sure I've finished that one too. I remember a late gate twist but not much else.

PCRF looks like a decent charity but i'm paranoid now about the money actually going somewhere good
― Nhex, Wednesday, 24 April 2024 18:32 (two years ago)
Ugh that's a good point. I know that charity scams (in the game space, even) have become increasingly common, which has the exact consequence of making people hesitant/skeptical about donating to other legitimate orgs. As for PCRF, it looks legit? https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/931057665
