I've also never played FFVII outside of the demo, and probably never will play it, but I find it very fascinating as a pop-cultural relic, so this was worth watching for me. I'll probably avoid his video on TLoU until I've actually played that, though.

two hours into this it has mostly convinced me i shouldn't play it. Good review! Saved me a lot of time!

this was fine. i mean i watched three hours without being bored. but i wasn’t at any point wowed enough by anywhere he went with it that i felt, afterwards, it had been a sound investment of my time. which i suspect is how i would feel if i got the ffvii remake so i guess it fits

i found this entertaining and it offered a lot more info about the games he's worked on than i'd picked up from his videos

i ran out of my crohn's disease medication a couple weeks back. coincidentally, i now know what the symptoms of crohn's disease feel like. also, i am experiencing an outbreak of shingles. i spent all day on the phone today, and learned i can't get health insurance until 2021.

alright, i just got through the first chapter of Doom and fuck, it's PROUSTIAN

i spent ten minutes explaining to my gf who this guy was before i hit play (there was a considerable digression about patreon) and got her to agree to try this video to see if she could see what I liked about him. she couldn't even make it past the list of releases.

Your GF is a champ for sticking it out that far, dude is definitely an acquired taste. I daresay this is the best thing he's done yet. I'm amazed at how many times he cuts away to that Romero/Carmack photo and it is equally hilarious every time. Also amazed at how he seems to be aging in reverse.

I also was not aware that he had some form of the Marilu Henner memory thing, but that sure explains how he was able to remember all of his play through in such detail.

Ok I've watched three hours of the Doom thing, even though it blows up Firefox's memory usage and makes everything crash. I can't always make it through his super long videos but this is good.

The FFVI essay is good too, as a poignant midwest portrait of pre-internet childhood being obsessed with Final Fantasy games (relatable, except for me it was the original FF). Did he really go to high school with Subway Jared?!

I am very curious to see how he will spin insight, LOLs, and poignancy from Pac-Man, a game that to my mind, "speaks for itself" even more than Doom. Like what on Earth is there to say about Pac-Man?

I struggled with the doom vid. doom's greatness is somewhat lost in watching gameplay video.
