ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS

we went to my coworker's island yesterday and it's very well organized with beautiful straight sidewalks between all the houses, floral decorations, a spa area, etc. and my kid basically threw a tantrum bc our island is kind of chaotic and it costs 50,000 bells to move each house if we want to fix it so they were demanding that we all contribute large sums of bells so they can rearrange our whole island. long story short, never go to anyone else's island, especially if they apparently have endless amounts of time to play animal crossing

Yeah, looking at people’s perfectly manicured islands online tends to be more deflating than inspiring in my experience.

if you go to our island there are pieces of furniture like big four poster beds and refrigerators just sitting outside in the middle of the woods or on the beach

my #1 wish for this game would be an island designer feature similar to the room designer where you can make terrain changes, move stuff around, etc. without having to hit the exact right spot with your shovel over and over

it bugs me how some location-dependent actions do the action in front of you, while others do the action to the space you are on

Having installed a new light fixture the other day and having a hell of a time getting things to line up, and having to plant some flowers in a different location in my yard because there was too much gravel near a retaining wall... I think my house is already an AC island

(Im always curious to know what ppl think are problems as Ive been playing this game since 2004 and it hasnt rly changed much in its basic structure)

def lots of problems with it: can't craft multiple; can't craft from storage; dodo airlines UX is a dog; can eat multiple turnips but not multiple other fruits etc etc

Agree on the multiple crafting/craft from storage thing fo sho. The air travel thing is apparently something to do with saving / preventing ppl from stealing ppls shit, but it should be more elegant.

today i got the World Map item and immediately set off toward my house to reach what i assumed would be the end of the game: figuring out whether or not animal crossing takes place on the planet Earth or in another world.

it's definitely Planet Earth. The ACNH island is on Earth. where is it, though?

Karl, which island? Mine’s in the northern hemisphere. That’s all I’ve got as far as location, though.

oh, it doesn't show the location of the island, it's just a world map with the United States, all of the continents, etc. I guess I should have already known that the animal crossing universe is in the same universe as Earth, since the day/night cycles are synced to the same 24 hour cycle.

Man, some of the irritating quirks do wear you down. I was giving back the drunk duck’s cell phone parts for the 20th time, initiated the conversation with him right as a villager was “!” and chasing me down. Like by the 50th text screen, the villager just lost interest and left. I’m sure he was probably trying to give me a dumb cherry hat or something, but I’ll never know!

I made a fortune telling booth up the top hill hidden in the woods, with candle holders and a velvet chair and goth mirror, I cant wait to see what it looks like in the dark tonite.

I’m making my own dinosaur museum in the attic because blathers keeps rejecting my fossils, but I’m mixing and matching body parts and getting a bit of a Doctor Moreau thing.

I'm playing with flowers haphazardly. Purple tulips, pink and blue windflowers, pink mums and lilies, blue hyacinths.

Spent an hour yesterday with a coworker's 5 year old on my island while simultaneously on the phone with him and it's the most fun thing I've done in 7 weeks. He is desperate to dig holes :)

my partner's sister has a whole flower-breeding preserve taking up a big chunk of the island

n00b seinfeld question: what's the deal with fences? i made a nice little backyard area, only to realize that i don't have a gate or doorway. so now i have a haystack completely enclosed by a fence. everything is normal in Boneyarden.
