I also once shook the BB so hard it turned red.

Yerac, Saturday, 18 April 2020 15:00 (six years ago)

do not shake the BB!!

mh, Saturday, 18 April 2020 15:29 (six years ago)

I think I had the most fun in Chapter 3 - that's the really long chapter right? I'm addicted to building roads and that one felt like I had the most freedom to just grind on that

I was all about building those roads, incredibly satisfying. Building the zip line network was even better.

Death Stranding is a game I really loved but also one I’m hesitant to recommend easily. It’s deliberately a pain in the ass and frustrating through... a lot of it. But it’s a totally bizarre/unique experience and if it connects it’s very gratifying. There’s glory in the struggle.

circa1916, Saturday, 18 April 2020 15:45 (six years ago)

yeah the reason I've spent so long on DS is through road building addiction

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Saturday, 18 April 2020 15:55 (six years ago)

it is definitely 'deliberately a pain in the arse' but once you get the hang of it, very little of it feels illogical or unfair

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Saturday, 18 April 2020 15:56 (six years ago)

when I get stuck in the sludgie the whale my spouse becomes a total backseat hiker and gets all stressed out. Emotions have been running high!

Yerac, Saturday, 18 April 2020 16:27 (six years ago)

Game definitely becomes more manageable when you attune to it and more tools are open up, but yeah, the stress factor is almost comical when you’re trudging through tar and demon arms are ripping cargo off of you while a baby is crying in your face. Like Kojima thought “hey, let’s combine several nightmare scenarios into one here.”

circa1916, Saturday, 18 April 2020 16:33 (six years ago)

But the joy of taming the wilderness pioneer-like is so so good.

circa1916, Saturday, 18 April 2020 16:36 (six years ago)

The baby crying out of the controller speaker was definitely unexpected. This was also when I first discovered there is a speaker there

ncxkd, Saturday, 18 April 2020 19:13 (six years ago)

lol yeah i think a couple launch titles used it and then nothing again until now

ciderpress, Saturday, 18 April 2020 20:25 (six years ago)

It’s used in nba 2k19 and in injustice 2 at least

Joey Corona (Euler), Saturday, 18 April 2020 20:37 (six years ago)

The controller makes a thwacking sound on Everybody's Golf

Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Saturday, 18 April 2020 21:22 (six years ago)

If I remember correctly the police radio comes through the controller speaker in GTAV

treefell, Saturday, 18 April 2020 21:26 (six years ago)

TLOU Remastered has audio logs play through the controller speaker and HZD has some minor sound effects go through it too.

Triceratops Vowell (Leee), Saturday, 18 April 2020 21:42 (six years ago)

If I remember correctly the police radio comes through the controller speaker in GTAV
well that settles it, purchasing (again)

ncxkd, Saturday, 18 April 2020 22:32 (six years ago)

In the various Tomb Raiders it makes gunshot sounds when you shoot

crisp, Saturday, 18 April 2020 23:12 (six years ago)

it's actually a really cool feature, that adds an extra weird little dimension. wish more games would use it

Nhex, Saturday, 18 April 2020 23:59 (six years ago)

f it. bought GTAV last night.

Yerac, Sunday, 19 April 2020 14:20 (six years ago)

Sweet
Maybe we can get some multiplayer going sometime. Always wanted to do those coop missions

ncxkd, Sunday, 19 April 2020 14:22 (six years ago)

I also bought gta5 this week, guess the extra one euro off in this sale did the trick. I really don't want to do the torture mission, just want a playground for doing dumb stuff that's not scifi or wild west

Joey Corona (Euler), Sunday, 19 April 2020 15:24 (six years ago)

the curiosity got to me and I bought FF7R
the 20% off PSN credit helped with my poor decision making tho lol

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Sunday, 19 April 2020 16:08 (six years ago)

man i dunno if i should but

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Sunday, 19 April 2020 21:34 (six years ago)

the honey bee inn sequence is... good now

mh, Sunday, 19 April 2020 22:01 (six years ago)

Haha yes!!

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 19 April 2020 23:42 (six years ago)

i am very happy with GTAV. Needed another faster game like spiderman to fill that gap.

Is there a decent arcade-style joystick available for PS4 for playing Pac Man and that sort of thing? All the ones I'm seeing are advertised as fight sticks, which apparently are no good for games where you only want 4-way or 8-way movement, not a full 360 degrees.

early rejecter, Wednesday, 6 May 2020 17:30 (six years ago)

No experience myself, but a guy on reddit suggests that some Hori sticks support 4-way: https://stores.horiusa.com/

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Wednesday, 6 May 2020 18:40 (six years ago)

but aren't all arcade games from that era (excepting trackball ones) digital inputs only anyway? (that is, 4 or 8-way vs. analog)

Nhex, Wednesday, 6 May 2020 19:44 (six years ago)

Yeah, after poking around more it seems like the issue is that you need a stick that is restricted to 4-way movement, because a game like Pac Man will ignore any input that isn't exactly up-down-left-right so you miss turns if you don't hit it just right. I'll check into the Hori sticks, thanks, looks like they have an inexpensive 8-way that can possibly be modified with an aftermarket restrictor plate.

Totally different topic: do you all back up your game data? I got the kid a PS4 for Christmas and there's been one instance since then where he lost progress in a game due to a corrupted file. Only happened that one time and fortunately he hadn't gotten far in yet, but is that something to worry about?

early rejecter, Thursday, 7 May 2020 15:34 (six years ago)

I think psplus syncs saves to the cloud, but that's probably not consistent between games and I'm not sure how good they are at not propagating local corruption

mh, Thursday, 7 May 2020 16:18 (six years ago)

One data point: I've had my PS4 for a couple years, and haven't had any corrupted saves.

Judd Apatowsaurus (Leee), Thursday, 7 May 2020 16:33 (six years ago)

Check the Upload/Download Saved Data menu dialogs, but if it was a long time ago then it's probably too late. Usually there are a few instances of your data in there.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Thursday, 7 May 2020 16:39 (six years ago)

Is it a Sony memory card?

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 7 May 2020 16:59 (six years ago)

memory... card?

mh, Thursday, 7 May 2020 17:38 (six years ago)

if you're really hardcore, early rejecter - you can get a high quality fight stick, and buy a restrictor gate like the ones seen here:
https://focusattack.com/spare-parts-tools/by-part/restrictor-gates/

I don't think there are a lot of sticks these days being sold like that as-is

Nhex, Thursday, 7 May 2020 19:29 (six years ago)

and yeah I just allow PS+ to backup all my saves

Nhex, Thursday, 7 May 2020 19:29 (six years ago)

Ghost of Tsushima looks tasty.

So buttons. (Leee), Monday, 18 May 2020 18:08 (six years ago)

once they showed gameplay without the UI turned off it became obvious that it's just an offbrand assassins creed game

ciderpress, Monday, 18 May 2020 18:31 (six years ago)

i'm thinking hard about going in on sekiro

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Monday, 18 May 2020 18:56 (six years ago)

i loved sekiro, and once the combat clicks, it’s fantastic, but like all fromsoftware games it is not without its frustrations.

RE2, spiderman, and god of war... in the sale, all for the price of one new game... tempting

RE2, spiderman, and god of war... in the sale, all for the price of one new game... tempting

All pretty dope, though mixed feelings about GoW. Just finished RE2 today and had a lot of fun with it. Spider-Man the best of the bunch imo.

circa1916, Saturday, 13 June 2020 22:03 (five years ago)

Spider-Man (as much as I played it) and God of War share a similar button-mashing DNA, I've got to admit. But swinging around the city in Spider-Man is about as good as that sort of thing gets in game.

I've just started playing The Outer Wilds. I'm loving it so far.

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 July 2020 09:45 (five years ago)

I literally just looked up which was which, Worlds vs. Wilds, and I already forgot. Is this the looping one?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 8 July 2020 12:21 (five years ago)

it's easy - Wilds is the one with the other Worlds, Worlds is the one where you go Wild looking for other Worlds

(Wilds is the 22 minute loop one and is amazing)
(and i have to look it up every single time because i always mix it up too)

time is running out to pitch in $5 (Karl Malone), Wednesday, 8 July 2020 15:39 (five years ago)

whoever said "the i in wilds stands for indie" fixed this problem for me
i bought wilds and control last night for $35

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 8 July 2020 15:49 (five years ago)

Wilds is the one that is wildly amazing and innovative
Worlds is the one that is Worldly and like other worldly games, not as innovative

time is running out to pitch in $5 (Karl Malone), Wednesday, 8 July 2020 15:51 (five years ago)

yes, and the o in worlds stands for Obsidian Entertainment

ciderpress, Wednesday, 8 July 2020 16:00 (five years ago)

i guess that requires that you know who obsidian are though

ciderpress, Wednesday, 8 July 2020 16:01 (five years ago)
