I'm really enjoying Witcher 3, you guys! Just done killed a Griffin and now I'm running around in a towel. But yes, all this alchemy and runestones and swords and stats is way over my head. Oh well, it's a romp

Worms WMD is on PS4 and is a great couch multi-player, even more venerable than Crash.
― closed beta (NotEnough), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 11:04 (six years ago)
the Divinity games can both be played couch co-op if you fancy something a bit meatier. feels a bit odd playing an rpg in split screen but works pretty well
― thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 11:30 (six years ago)
I tried the second Divinity and have no idea how combat works (kind of a high learning curve to not dying in a battle).
― HELLA FITZGERALD (Leee), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 16:03 (six years ago)
Yeah Divinity’s got a pretty steep learning curve. Gave it a few hours but it didn’t really click at the time, hope to return to it at some point.
― circa1916, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 16:09 (six years ago)
EDF games have couch co-op
― chihuahuau, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 16:11 (six years ago)
oh what's the indie game where you run about inside a spaceship trying to pilot it while manning the cannons and sort out problems? that was fun twoplayer.
― thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 17:38 (six years ago)
my memory, sorry. "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime", that's it.
― thomasintrouble, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 17:40 (six years ago)
I think it's local 4p too
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:19 (six years ago)
Son would quite like Rocket League for Christmas. Can you play this offline?
Can you play this offline?
You can play against the computer but the computer AI isn't very good.
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:20 (six years ago)
The writing is excellent, what I've seen of it! It eschews the "one of these options is the objective best option," which really confounded me when I ran up against a certain decision point.
― HELLA FITZGERALD (Leee), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:23 (six years ago)
Best local co-op on PS4 is Towerfall btw
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:25 (six years ago)
re Rocket League you can do up to 4p local though.
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:26 (six years ago)
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Lol Just remembered I bought this for Switch eons ago but never got around to playing it, possibly because I bought it to play 4p family coop but abandoned that idea as well in the wake of the Overcooked debacle.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:28 (six years ago)
overcooked gets incredibly stressful incredibly quickly
― Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 22 October 2019 18:32 (six years ago)
Speaking of stress, I started "Alien:Isolation," and hoo boy ...

Cat Quest $6 on PS4, I'd be stupid not to buy it right?!?
― HELLA FITZGERALD (Leee), Wednesday, 23 October 2019 01:25 (six years ago)
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but my PS4 is getting appalling wi-fi signal. Speeds in the kbps and lots of connection drop-outs. My ISP basically don't give a shit because other devices seem to work fine in the same room. Anyone else had similar problems and managed to get them fixed?
― frame casual (dog latin), Wednesday, 23 October 2019 11:24 (six years ago)
change your wifi channel maybe?alternatively, if your ps4 is in the same room as your wifi and your wifi does dual-band, use the 5Ghz connection
― Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 23 October 2019 11:33 (six years ago)
it's got an ethernet port, if you have a physical router to plug it into
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 11:38 (six years ago)
At the very least you should do that to check its speed, to see if it's still sloth when it's getting it straight from the tap.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 11:42 (six years ago)
the PS4 has shit wifi, possibly alleviated a little in the newer models but Sony still recommends a wired connection in nearly all their documentation
― mh, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 16:49 (six years ago)
huh. for years i've streamed HD baseball with it with zero problems.
― Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 23 October 2019 17:02 (six years ago)
I mean, it all depends on the antennas on your wifi, distance, etc. too
or, as I remembered the other day, standing directly in front of the microwave with your phone meants wifi might work poorly
― mh, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 17:16 (six years ago)
My ps4 had shit WiFi and I read on a forum to try rotating it 90 degrees
Worked a treat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
― Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Thursday, 24 October 2019 17:36 (six years ago)

― doorstep jetski (dog latin), Saturday, 26 October 2019 18:05 (six years ago)
I got a bunch of new games. mostly puzzlers :
Unravel 2 (very sweet and satisfying so far) Little Nightmares (I'm stuck on this one already. feels a bit bleak). Bendy and the Ink Machine (fucking terrifying. I'm only a bit in and I'm a bit scared to play it tbhwu) Overcooked 2 (cos I want a 2 player but not played it yet) Undertale (love the concept and humour but I can imagine getting hacked off with it quickly)

I played the Cat Quest demo. Needless to say I ended up buying it.

ON IPHONE too
― L'assie (Euler), Saturday, 26 October 2019 18:47 (six years ago)
re remote play, can use DualShock also
Really digging Control, if only for the way it plasters the name of a newly discovered room onto the screen in huge letters.
― T/S: Eliot (Leee), Monday, 28 October 2019 17:49 (six years ago)
I'm wishing the adaptive difficulty in Control would adapt itself back down a few notches because I'm near the endgame and the last few encounters (main story, some side missions) are a pain in the ass
going to grind out a few more upgrades but those flying assholes that fling rocks really chafe
― mh, Monday, 28 October 2019 17:53 (six years ago)
here's a tip: don't play Overcooked 2 with your partner when you're both extremely hungover but also hungry.
― doorstep jetski (dog latin), Tuesday, 29 October 2019 01:33 (six years ago)
tfw you bought a game a year ago on Black Friday, never opened it, and it's now PS+

It's already being reviewed, e.g.: Death Stranding is a long, bizarre journey that’s both breathtaking and boring
― Antonym Scalia (Leee), Friday, 1 November 2019 20:53 (six years ago)
i’m down for playing anything Kojima puts out but i have the chance to play games so infrequently these days i have no idea when i’m gonna find the time to put 50 hours into a stumbling simulator
― non-euclidean lenin (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 1 November 2019 21:12 (six years ago)
sounds like at its core it's one of those 'satisfaction via overcoming frustrating limitations' games but with a shared-world twist (have seen QWOP namechecked in multiple impressions, of all things)
― ciderpress, Friday, 1 November 2019 21:21 (six years ago)
wth this has me intrigued now:
Its most recurring visual motif is a not-so-subtle gesture towards Thomas Pynchon’s Gravity’s Rainbow.

since constructs that can help other players are shared between contacts, do we need an ilx ps4 contact list?
― mh, Saturday, 2 November 2019 00:08 (six years ago)
I ask only because I haven’t added any ps4 friends at all and should get on it — I have only one local friend on my pa4 contacts and he plays all older games
