Loving that lemon-yellow & white color scheme; it looks delicious. Also WTF @ the apparent existence of Switch games that don't support handheld mode?

Auld Drink of Misery (zchyrs), Wednesday, 10 July 2019 13:42 (six years ago)

The inability to have game data reside on more than one switch is still a show stopper for us, I think.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 13:45 (six years ago)

We’ve barely used ours in handheld mode, maybe two times tops?

L'assie (Euler), Wednesday, 10 July 2019 13:50 (six years ago)

Ours spends 99% of its playing time in handheld mode running Splatoon 2. If I could transfer the data from the old one to a Lite model then that might work.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 13:53 (six years ago)

xp theres like 3 or 4 party games that dont support handheld becuase they use the joycons in a specific way that requires them to be detached e.g. 1-2 switch, mario party

ciderpress, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 14:15 (six years ago)

i'd be tempted to double up on a vita-sized switch but this isn't that much smaller than the existing one. like the colors and the real dpad though

ciderpress, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 14:18 (six years ago)

Tombot all games support local wireless data migration between two switches and i believe if you pay for online any games with cloud saves will synchronize.

Anyway I Want It

president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Wednesday, 10 July 2019 14:42 (six years ago)

Hopefully the fact that one comes in all turquoise will help lead my 8yo to the RIGHT DECISION and I will be able to finish my play through of The Octopants Travesty

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 16:28 (six years ago)

One of the reasons I rarely play handheld is screen glare, tbh.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 16:38 (six years ago)

Ooh, I may get one of these. I've been holding off for a price drop and also Do Not Own A TV, and so was anticipating that I'd be playing mostly handheld anyway.

jmm, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 19:00 (six years ago)

While using a non-primary console, you must have an active Internet connection to play downloadable content.

So ... if you have a Switch and you want this Switch lite to just play on the go, you can't? Unless you switch the primary account on your Switches?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 10 July 2019 23:11 (six years ago)

I don't get it. It doesn't switch. It sames. The nintendo same.

Shush he's a caveman, etc

Cecil replies to your e-mails (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 11 July 2019 00:29 (six years ago)

if you have a switch you already have a switch that can play on the go

ciderpress, Thursday, 11 July 2019 02:09 (six years ago)

We already have a Switch but that’s “we”; sometimes more than one of us wants to play something, or someone is traveling alone, etc

president of deluded fruitcakes anonymous (silby), Thursday, 11 July 2019 02:23 (six years ago)

Some comment from NoA President Doug Bowser in some outlet today that there will be a better story around bouncing between devices but who knows what that’ll actually look like.

ciderpress, Friday, 12 July 2019 13:38 (six years ago)

yeh can't wait, have been mapping out the next few months
Fire Emblem July 26
Astral Chain August 30
DQ11 September 27
then maybe Outer Worlds October 25 pending reviews

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Friday, 12 July 2019 13:59 (six years ago)

the mythical "switch pro" turns out to just be a revision of the base switch with longer battery life

ciderpress, Wednesday, 17 July 2019 13:09 (six years ago)

that's good - it needs a longer battery life

Mordy, Wednesday, 17 July 2019 14:14 (six years ago)

stealth upgrade without a separate model? interesting, not very Nintendo-like

Nhex, Wednesday, 17 July 2019 15:58 (six years ago)

they changed the box and added -001 to the model number, it's not a stealth upgrade

ciderpress, Wednesday, 17 July 2019 16:11 (six years ago)

Can anybody vouch for Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Switch? I'm on the fence; I played through the demo and enjoyed it, but the choppy frame rate put me off a little. The PS4 version isn't an option for me.

Auld Drink of Misery (zchyrs), Thursday, 18 July 2019 13:24 (six years ago)

I think I am enjoying RE4

||||||||, Thursday, 18 July 2019 13:47 (six years ago)

||||||||, Thursday, 18 July 2019 20:05 (six years ago)

when does the FE OT go live

||||||||, Monday, 22 July 2019 14:03 (six years ago)

I want to get a Switch! Possibly going to look for s/h though to keep costs down. I don't know much about the machine at all other than I'm intrigued by some of the indie games like Baba Is You, and also I'd like a really good RPG to play so as to fill the Chrono Trigger-sized hole in my life.
Is there anything I need to watch out for if buying s/h? Any features or pitfalls? Are they all more or less the same?

frame casual (dog latin), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:08 (six years ago)

a new model with longer battery life just dropped. so weigh that against any s/h discount. Would also play it with joycons detached to check for signal or drift issues.

Cecil replies to your e-mails (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:12 (six years ago)

the newer model doesn't have detachable joycons or TV output, and the screen is a tad smaller, but it's $100 cheaper and has much better battery life, so tradeoffs

Nhex, Monday, 22 July 2019 14:23 (six years ago)

by TV output, you mean you can't plug it into a TV?

frame casual (dog latin), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:28 (six years ago)

also, will it matter that my telly is from like 2005

frame casual (dog latin), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:28 (six years ago)

you're talking about two different "new models." the new "nintendo switch" has longer battery life, the new "switch lite" is the one nhex is talking about.

na (NA), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:30 (six years ago)

How very confusing. So the Switch Lite is just handheld I take it; like a Game Gear. The new Switch has better batteries and stuff.

frame casual (dog latin), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:57 (six years ago)

I\'m not sure I GAF about batteries really - I'd mostly be playing it at home.

frame casual (dog latin), Monday, 22 July 2019 15:01 (six years ago)

the better battery one will be out in September it's identical to the current one otherwise

ciderpress, Monday, 22 July 2019 15:03 (six years ago)

it's not a new model they're just updating the current one

ciderpress, Monday, 22 July 2019 15:04 (six years ago)
