did anyone else buy mario maker 2? downloading now. everyone should buy it and become my nintendo friend so we can play each other's levels. it is unlikely that anyone i know irl will play anything i make. what i'm saying is please join my super mario maker 2 community

Thinking of getting a switch — is it playable much without creating an online account, though? Also, are the batteries easily replaceable?

you need to pay for the online thing to play almost any games online but there’s only a couple big Switch exclusive games where online is essential. There’s no user-serviceable battery.

I don't have an online account for either my Switch or my PS4, and I don't really feel like I'm missing anything. You still need to create some sort of account to buy/download games, though.

i'd wait a couple months and see if the new switch model rumors materialize for the holidays, unless you specifically want it for summer travel etc

Karl I don’t have Maker and I may hold off because I expect I will get a lot of the value of that game just by watching videos and streamers but I will add you as a Switch friend later

I bought the Nintendo online account for cloud saves because the idea of breaking my switch and losing my BOTW savegame would've been too heartbreaking

Also, because sometime - that's okay, TAKE MORE TIME Nintendo - the SNES games will come online and then I'll never leave the house again

My new switch rumor logic goes like this

1. I am not getting any new games via digital because if a new switch comes out I am going to want to be able to, uh, switch between switches (kid and dad)

2. By forcing my family to not enjoy new games until we can acquire a cartridge and swap it in, I am increasing the likelihood that new switch models will come true

3. I am an idiot who thinks Nintendo will cut me a break for being a 2-Switch household and discount our online subs

they have a family plan for online already, its $35 instead of $20/year and covers up to 8 switches iirc

omg I <3 katamari damacy on the switch. Dad is always SO disappointed in me on the make the moon level. I don't care if I ever roll up godzilla and those weird luchador/superhero dudes wading in the ocean, just want it to never end. And now Animal Crossing is coming in March; I may never be heard from again.

i want to pick up mario maker asap but i should have 10 nintendo bux coming in from the last tetris 99 event (weirdbrag) and i'm waiting for that to come in before pulling the trigger!

Loving that lemon-yellow & white color scheme; it looks delicious. Also WTF @ the apparent existence of Switch games that don't support handheld mode?

The inability to have game data reside on more than one switch is still a show stopper for us, I think.

We’ve barely used ours in handheld mode, maybe two times tops?

Ours spends 99% of its playing time in handheld mode running Splatoon 2. If I could transfer the data from the old one to a Lite model then that might work.

xp theres like 3 or 4 party games that dont support handheld becuase they use the joycons in a specific way that requires them to be detached e.g. 1-2 switch, mario party

i'd be tempted to double up on a vita-sized switch but this isn't that much smaller than the existing one. like the colors and the real dpad though

Tombot all games support local wireless data migration between two switches and i believe if you pay for online any games with cloud saves will synchronize.

Anyway I Want It

Hopefully the fact that one comes in all turquoise will help lead my 8yo to the RIGHT DECISION and I will be able to finish my play through of The Octopants Travesty

One of the reasons I rarely play handheld is screen glare, tbh.

Ooh, I may get one of these. I've been holding off for a price drop and also Do Not Own A TV, and so was anticipating that I'd be playing mostly handheld anyway.

While using a non-primary console, you must have an active Internet connection to play downloadable content.

So ... if you have a Switch and you want this Switch lite to just play on the go, you can't? Unless you switch the primary account on your Switches?

We already have a Switch but that’s “we”; sometimes more than one of us wants to play something, or someone is traveling alone, etc

Some comment from NoA President Doug Bowser in some outlet today that there will be a better story around bouncing between devices but who knows what that’ll actually look like.
