yes I've been disabused of that notion by the posts above

it actually was the best game of all time but wouldn't be good at all now. you really had to be there.

its not some monolithic thing like mario 64, its more like halo 1 in that it raised the stakes for an existing genre and then everyone iterated on it for 2 generations and made some better games in the process

i guess, in the sense that there were better FPS than Halo and even the two previous FF games were better than VII but they were still exceedingly popular

esby likely otm there, dunno if i wanna play it again but it owned me for months

your time's better spent playing the Event RPGs of today imo

Tetris 99 is fun

I don’t know how to do T-spins so I’ll never win but I’m pretty consistently in top 10 and have come in second and third a few times

I love Tetris but T-spins are too confusing

they're not too hard, i guarantee if you watch just a couple minutes' worth of videos on how to do them you'll be set (look at just doubles, not triples, which are much harder to set up + rarer to naturally occur -- doubles are easy + they're a must).

you might play slower for a little while while you're practicing set ups but it's worth it, learning those as well as s/z + j/l spins really opens up how you can play the game and it just gets way more fun when each piece has that many more options and less things break yr flow.

my twitchiness/reflexes are way too trash to play any game that requires them generally, but my win rate in this is like 7-8%. i love this game. switch best console of all time

The VR support will be quite different between the two games. While Super Mario Odyssey will get a “bite-sized bonus experience” with a series of three mini-missions in which you collect coins and musical notes, it looks like Breath of the Wild is getting full-on VR support in the main game. You’ll simply be able to turn on the VR Goggles in the options menu and explore all of Hyrule in VR. (Pre-rendered cut scenes won’t work in VR, it said.)

the botw one will be more like 3ds stereoscopy i assume, there's no way the switch can do dynamic VR in that game

yeah god eater is monhun but a bit faster and sci-fi, i haven't actually played one so that's all i've got

my switch is in stasis while i use this slow release period to play a certain 100 hour long game that is not on it (yet) but i will be back in action by the summer

i just got nba 2k19 for it on sale at the local store and brought it home and........ i cant play any of the modes until it finishes a 4 hour download, neat

yeah bigger 3rd party games tend to cheap out on the cartridge costs by only putting half the game on there rather than going to the next size up

It seems like I log in to this thread every three months and ask if I should buy Skyrim, then chicken out, but it's £25 now on the Nintendo store (!) and I think I'll buy Skyrim, maybe.

(I have to admit, I love Zelda but I couldn't get into Dead Souls.)

skyrim has aged badly in a post BOTW/Witcher 3 world

Cuphead looks *so* gorgeous, but I've read a lot about how difficult it is, and after my experience with Hollow Knight (loved it but too difficult) and Dark Souls (too difficult, lost interest) I think I'll skip this time.

Difficulty depends on the player’s genre preferences, I think. I only played a couple hours of cuphead, but I found it easier than dark souls. I am really bad at 3D action games, but I feel at home in 2D

Buuut I don’t think I’ll buy it for switch (I played on a friend’s PC) because the d-pad hurts my fingers. Maybe I need to upgrade to the pro pad

pro d-pad has issues with ghost inputs on the diagonals, its not perfect either

maybe they've fixed it in more recent ones idk

Damn, I’m glad you mentioned that! I’ve beeen considering going pro but if I’m going to pay that much for an extra pad, I want it to be perfect
