yeah, highly recommended. it's a game where you can totally nerd out on the character builds/stats/most powerful routes through the various levels, but you can also play it more casually and successfully as a action platformer

Mordy I loved it at first but it kind of still snuck up on me as being One Of The Best Games I've Ever Played, I definitely think it'll improve loads with some of the promised DLC, really you'll love it, it's tough but fair

that was a terrible sentence. i didn't mean to imply that it's more successful as a game when approached casually, i just meant it's very accessible and has a nice smooth learning curve

yeah, dead cells owns. I've only played a few hours so far but early favourite builds have been centred around tactics (purple?)

i've also steered toward the purple/red builds so far. i tried shield/green for a while, but i have a terrible videogame weak spot for parrying. i suck at it, no matter the game. is it worth spending some time getting better with the shield, or does the green build lead to non-shield items that are fun?

To be honest, I never used the shield ever for the longest time, but I found that having played the game for 100+ hours at this point, the rhythms of all the different monsters are like second-nature to me, and I didn't even need to train myself to be good at the shield, I just knew when to parry and it was working fine. I'm curious as to how efficacious one is against the Hand, maybe I should search that

Oh but I still rarely if ever use one, unless I get some wildly overpowered Assault Shield toward the end

i have not played for even heard of dead cells but i have enjoyed this reminder of who much i like reading people talking a highly-specific ways about playing video games and video game strategy

i have a physical copy of dead cells coming to me because .. i forget why i thought it was necessary. somehow it legitimated the idea of investing time in it, should i find myself doing so. i don’t think i can justify that.

rough times for metroid. zelda survived a 2-3 year delay with a really good game though so hopefully that happens again

Well, on the plus side "Spider-man" is not nearly as taxing as something like "Dark Souls," so maybe I'll be able to play it and Zelda concurrently. There's time for cauliflower experiments, too, especially since it's -7 outside right now.

huh it should definitely work, what games were you trying to play? there was a firmware update yesterday, dunno if that affected things but it shouldn't

i read somewhere that if a device isn't your 'primary' console then you need an internet connection. i had mine stolen a while back. i dissociated that one from my account and got a new one, so i'm really hoping this isn't going to be some weird legacy

all the games i've downloaded throw up a load screen that says 'checking if the software can be played,' which i assumed was firmware-related but now seems to be a DRM check

oh right weird. did you go thru Nintendo customer service to do that or just use some function in their account system? it might still have yr new one designated as secondary

and yeah that's the same message it throws up if you preload a game that isn't out yet and try to run it

jfc -- i deregistered the old one remotely before setting up the new one and it's still showing the new one as not the primary console.

i tried deregistering again and it says you can't do it more than once a year

prob have to get Nintendo customer service to fix it for you then
