ok i have this thing now and i dunno i guess i imagined they would have done something smart about the menu navigation but it's overloaded with undeletable rubbish.

and, i really must be dim but every time you turn on a controller the game STOPS and you have to SELECT A USER? who must have their own account on the system?? yes i know you can turn on autologin, but i don't want to turn on autologin because i have two kids and i don't want them playing metal gear solid on my account. sorry i'm a little salty because i just had to create a new EMAIL ADDRESS FOR MY CHILDREN in order to get their account onto the PS network, involving an untold number of 2-step verification processes to get that plumbed into sony's system, then going through about 10 screens of permissions, then creating an EA account once fifa loaded, more 2-step verification, and now just playing a two player game involving more than 1 controller means everything stops and i have to select "which account is using this controller" i mean FUCK'S FUCKING SAKE. if the original playstation was intended to be an appliance this feels like an admin system that eats its own tail. ANYWAY i'm playing super mega baseball late at night now, only one controller to fuck with so that's fine. i have a PIN set up on my master account but it apparently means nothing because i can just switch back and forth between the two accounts at will. whatever.

Just ask them if they have a burner address.

The PS4 is clogged with shit it's pushing you, but I found it pretty easy to turn off pretty much all notifications.

I am Technology Uncle, always given the job on Christmas Eve of making sure that everything is filled with batteries and has received all its updates before it's put back in the boxes so the kids can play with it immediately on Christmas Morning.

Apart from last Spring when my oldest nephew got a (checks thread title) special type of PS4 while I was there, and I had to set up everything for him, creating accounts for him and his dad, with his dad's account having powers of buying stuff (initially linked to my debit card!) and him not, and gave him his password, and carefully gave his father both passwords, and also mailed them to myself in case they forgot and lost them. And all the time all the kids are going "Is it ready yet?" and then I have to explain that he didn't buy FIFA, he bought a download code for FIFA...

Anyway, long story short his dad gave him the password to his (the dad's) account within a week the end. Except the last time I was home my nephew gave me €5 because he wanted to buy a skin on Fortnite - and that's when my card got unlinked from the account.

getting the ps4 started earlier this year was total bullshit & you are triggering me here

on starting FIFA 19 i had to set up a whole new EA account for each player account. that required email addresses and 2-step verification, passwords etc.

then i selected "kick off" and it wanted me to CREATE A KICK OFF PROFILE FOR EACH PLAYER GODDAMN

If you're having trouble setting up multiplayer, have you tried adding sub accounts under Parental Controls > Sub Account Management? That might help. You'll need your primary login info to access it.

yes I've added those. to get online they need email addresses against them. so in effect each controller needs its own email address. unless I'm missing something - which is entirely possible!

lol that's before even getting into the EA accounts. that is literally just to use a controller. if you choose the same profile for controller 2 that's currently using controller 1, controller 1 switches off!!!1!!1!eleventy11!!!!1!1!

it had a pretty basic/boring ATB-esque combat system with a real-time wrinkle the problem was i didn't think the real-time wrinkle was fun. there's a pretty big opportunity cost to adding a real-time mechanic to a turn based system imo and this was definitely Not It

the thing where the entire script is in rhyme was more grating than cute to me as well but ymmv on that

agreed on the rhyming stuff, started skipping it after a while
I liked the battle system a bit more, but it outstayed its welcome in what is a relatively short game
overall it's an OK game but there are so many better choices out there, something like Cosmic Star Heroine is a lot more fun all round
