gdq has always had drama issues, which is why i tend to keep my distance, but i'm glad they usually wind up doing the right thing eventually. i don't know if i'm being ageist about it but i sort of attribute it to so many of them being young.

there's a lot of horrible transphobic stuff in gaming but the flipside of that is that trans people are more _visible_ in gaming, which is a really awesome thing that's been incredibly helpful to me personally. role models are cool.

also, i've seen my fair share of the quiet transphobia of people who have never actually seen a trans person in their lives, and i feel like some, though not all, of those people would be just as big assholes as the gamer nazis.

Pretty sure the average age of GDQ runners is around 17 and if the organizers are older it’s only because they’ve stuck around a few years

man, I finally played Minecraft after that website called it like the 3rd greatest videogame of all time and I'm not really into it

just looked, it was Polygon and it was the 8th greatest

i liked some of the games that ripped it off later in different ways - dragon quest builders, terraria

imo the placement of Minecraft is more of a statement on its legacy/influence, not on how fun it actually is to play these days.

Space Wars and Adventure are some of the most important games of all time, but they also suck ass these days

also the best way to play minecraft imo (at least it was in 2013 or whenever i played it) was on a persistent server with a bunch of ppl you know, all building cool things in your own little corners of the map, and then going and visiting other people's shit and getting jealous/inspired ot build your own cool shit
