Bought it and an new One X to replace my decrepit X - struggled to not skip cutscenes (like I do with every other game) and with years between RDR and GTA and now this I'd forgotten how the Rockstar third person movement can be awkward.

The first choice in the game is whether to kill someone or let him go and I killed the fuck out of him.

this + spiderman + the fact that i spend 6 months playing one game at a time is making me think i should get a PS4 pro

i just sprung for a non-pro ps4. i figured: i currently have a 26" tv, when i get a new one it will not be more than 40". there will not ever be pro exclusives.

pro seems nice if you have a 4k + HDR tv otherwise the delta isn't really that huge

I got the slim a few months back rather than the pro because I don't have a 4k tv and that really seems to be the only dif.

xbox is the one where the difference is huge, the x is a really quality piece of hardware

which ps4 is the quietest? my hearing sux so i'd probably go for that

btw, has it been worth it so far tracer?

get the slim then, the pro runs very loud on high end games

the game is gorgeous (i started playing it last night) and the voice acting is fantastic. the controls tho yeeesh

rock star games

Yeah controls are always an issue with their games... and the races missions almost ruined the first one for me although in theory I should have loved it.

it's kinda sweet that of all the game studios rock star got so caught up in the storytelling / character realization aspects of gaming and completely neglected the ludic elements

Well, aim for cinematic and you end up with a game better to watch than to play.

Saw the first hour last night and it was like watching a cliched, extremely slow moving western movie with android actors. Snow looked pretty though

i'm sure it's a lot more fun once it opens up a bit. that first area is pretty much the tutorial

yeah the main criticism i keep hearing for this is that its extremely slow even compared to tolerably slow paced games like witcher 3 and the like, also that it doesn't explain its systems well

so so far my guy has a scar on his chin and has been burnt, beat up and blown to pieces

my horse has fallen down and hit large stones, ran into trees and has gotten burned

apparently if you shoot like a shopkeeper on the leg he gets a wooden leg

yeah, the poker games were the secret winner of the 1st one.
at some point I was only playing poker.
And as I wrote upthread, I think, I'm suprised they didn't include an option to cheat/throw the table away and take out your gun !

when i played the first red dead i got really into the poker to the extent that that was all that i did. then i stopped playing the game altogether.

had the same experience with triple triad in final fantasy 8
