it's tuned somewhat difficult from what I've seen of it, more difficult than the Castlevania games it's inspired by at least

Tune in 9/6 at 3pm PT for a new Nintendo Direct featuring around 35 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo #3DS and #NintendoSwitch titles!https://t.co/vZbh2Ng6u1 pic.twitter.com/WVMdZYeGFv

stoked at this steady drip of content in the runup to the holiday season

faculty w1fe (silby), Wednesday, 5 September 2018 16:33 (seven years ago)

gotta love content

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 September 2018 16:34 (seven years ago)

presumably this will include their final pitch for the online service so if they were holding back any surprises for that, now's the time.

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 September 2018 16:39 (seven years ago)

I decided this morning that the only excuse for terraria taking this long on switch is because it’s gonna have multiplayer on day one

If that turns out to not be the case I will get mad

Paleo Weltschmerz (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 5 September 2018 17:11 (seven years ago)

didn't the terraria dev spend 3 years on some major update/overhaul of the game and then unceremoniously cancel it recently? that's probably why. i don't see why it wouldn't have multiplayer though regardless

ciderpress, Wednesday, 5 September 2018 17:21 (seven years ago)

Direct delayed to unspecified date due to earthquake

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 6 September 2018 09:11 (seven years ago)

Having hit a great stopping point (for now) with Hollow Knight I'm going to go back to Doom. I'm worried I've totally forgotten how to play it, though, and the lag issues that hindered my experience on Switch might bug me even more following something as smooth as HK. And yet I've made all the progress with Doom thanks (I think) to gyro controls, and I'm worried that even if I bought it again for PS4 that the improved play will be hurt by the lack of gyro. I guess we'll see! At least it's pretty cheap on PS4 ...

ace attorney panel announced for TGS

this is what we're all waiting for

ciderpress, Thursday, 6 September 2018 14:52 (seven years ago)

Yus!

Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 6 September 2018 15:18 (seven years ago)

I don't understand what any of that means.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 September 2018 15:25 (seven years ago)

Ace Attorney - a series of detective-themed visual novel games from Capcom, popular on Nintendo handhelds
panel - presentation and discussion from a group of several people
TGS - Tokyo Game Show
Tokyo - the capital of Japan
Game - in this context, video games
Show - fan expo

faculty w1fe (silby), Thursday, 6 September 2018 15:33 (seven years ago)

Thanks!

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 September 2018 15:34 (seven years ago)

enjoyed captain toad quite a bit. there's like 80 levels and at least half of them are little marvels of design that are really satisfying even when they're easy to complete.

ciderpress, Thursday, 6 September 2018 20:42 (seven years ago)

agreed, about half way thru chapter 3 at the moment
planning to get 'inside' next i think

I think I’d rather just play this on iPad tbh

Got Broforce yesterday and have been playing it nonstop. I badly want to finish off Yoku’s Island Express but I cannot put Broforce down.

The Troops™ (jamescobo), Sunday, 9 September 2018 00:41 (seven years ago)

this was almost certainly supposed to reveal in the Direct but Sony had it in their press conference this morning:

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition is more beautiful than ever and coming to #NintendoSwitch and #PlayStation 4 in 2019! pic.twitter.com/hwfldVLYRO

I’m only interested in squeenix games that utilize the gambit system

Paleo Weltschmerz (El Tomboto), Monday, 10 September 2018 11:55 (seven years ago)

Dang

faculty w1fe (silby), Monday, 10 September 2018 13:11 (seven years ago)

the Xenoblade 2 dlc campaign is looking more and more like it's gonna be higher quality stuff than the base game. i've gone from not really caring to moving it near the front of my queue

I have never played Tales Of; what’s the flavor profile

faculty w1fe (silby), Monday, 10 September 2018 14:12 (seven years ago)

furries

Mordy, Monday, 10 September 2018 14:15 (seven years ago)

(i don't know if that's true; just looking ta the box)

Mordy, Monday, 10 September 2018 14:19 (seven years ago)

tales of games are anime action-rpgs with fighting-game-esque combat mechanics. most of them have 2 player local coop too which can be fun if you have a friend who wants to sit through a 40 hour jrpg with you

Vesperia is one of the more highly regarded ones in the series but Microsoft paid to make it an xbox360 exclusive in the US for some reason so a bunch of the usual jrpg audience missed it before now

ciderpress, Monday, 10 September 2018 14:34 (seven years ago)

That’s the only one I played as I was Xbox only last gen. It was a beaut.

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 10 September 2018 14:48 (seven years ago)

there's a Pokemon Let's Go special edition switch bundle coming that has yellow and brown joycons

ciderpress, Monday, 10 September 2018 15:07 (seven years ago)

The Nintendo Switch has truly given me video game madness to a degree I may not even have possessed as a child

faculty w1fe (silby), Monday, 10 September 2018 16:55 (seven years ago)

same, i wish this direct would happen already so my brain can move on to more important things

ciderpress, Wednesday, 12 September 2018 15:12 (seven years ago)

Jazzed for rumored Tasteless Earthquake Simulator 2019 or whatever that supposedly was a factor in the delay

faculty w1fe (silby), Wednesday, 12 September 2018 15:25 (seven years ago)

there was an interlude where Reggie gave a monologue about how earthquakes are awesome

all the Final Fantasies, Katamari & Animal Crossing for me plz

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 13 September 2018 22:50 (seven years ago)

well, maybe not World of FF, that looks rubbish

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 13 September 2018 22:52 (seven years ago)

confession time despite being the resident jrpg buff i have not played any of those particular FF games before, even 7

ciderpress, Friday, 14 September 2018 00:10 (seven years ago)

I have not played a single mainline final fantasy! 12 interests me most, I wanna do that much-derided programmable autobattle system

faculty w1fe (silby), Friday, 14 September 2018 03:27 (seven years ago)

the gambit system is the best battle system in all FF games that are not FF Tactics games

Paleo Weltschmerz (El Tomboto), Friday, 14 September 2018 04:34 (seven years ago)

have played all the mainline ones except 10-2
7 is a fascinating mess
looking forward to 9 as I last played that about 15 years ago
10 is v linear but has my fav turn based FF battle system, some really cool puzzle-y boss battles iirc
12 has the best world and cast, gambits are built 4 code nerd linx

i've been wanting a switch but this just adds to it

na (NA), Friday, 14 September 2018 14:16 (seven years ago)

the Yoshi game looked way better than the last time we saw it, i like the presentation a lot more than woolly world. the way you see the artifice of the world from behind when flipping the stages in reverse is good stuff
