I don’t think that quite enters into it, since you can smush echo fighters into their templates, and DLC seems inevitable, if only because Arms and XC2 characters may not have made it to the initial design doc. Everyone expects Shadow as a Sonic echo and there’s bound to be a couple more straight up newcomers to announce when they show off the Mystery Green Mode.

He’s extremely edgy. Also has identical abilities to Sonic, hence, echo character.

they also confirmed today that waluigi will serve as an echo to snake

the squad thing and Battleground swapping and stuff like that, I really like the idea of those things, because there are so many Battlegrounds and so many characters it would take forever to play all of them.

there are few game series i 'get' less than diablo

I think it’s about the extremely mild friction of clicking on things until they explode.

yeah i assume its just the american version of dynasty warriors games, which i am generally lukewarm on

diablo's more about making numbers go up

strong first impressions from cosmic star heroine. the combat system uses a mechanic i like a lot from certain board games, where each character can only use each of their abilities once and then it goes on cooldown until they take a turn off to rest which refreshes everything. there's a nice risk/reward of wanting to be efficient and rest as few times as possible but also not wanting to get caught with no options on an important turn.

presentation wise it basically looks like a late 90s 2d jrpg like suikoden or whatever

grandia 1&2 HD... pretty random but more old jrpgs i never played are always welcome

trying to decide what to play next... recommendations from the following: bayonetta 2, shovel knight, tropical freeze, owlboy?, mario rabbids?

i've only played tropical freeze of those but it rules if you like DKC games. very much in the spirit of the old ones in being super overproduced for a 2d platformer

have heard good things about mario&rabbids as a more deterministic and puzzley take on the xcom style of gameplay, not so good things about owlboy

i really liked the DKC game tho i haven't played them since it first came out on snes in 1994 and i was 10yo.

Rabbids is an excellent xcom type game, easy at the beginning but really ramps up the difficulty towards the end. also features the best opera scene in a game since ff6 https://youtu.be/PH-cpqE-efw

i'm still enjoying the combat system in cosmic star heroine, though the writing has been pretty wonky, the first 4 or 5 hours reminds me of some of the old FF games in how it jerks you around from one Bad Situation to another without much sense of pacing and new characters just kind of happily jump into your renegade group without clear motivation. i seem to have gotten to the part where i have the equivalent of the airship though, where it slows down and you get to select your party.

I’m thinking about getting The Escapists 2 for local multiplayer with the kid. Anyone else tried it on switch?

Heard bad things about Owlboy, but Shovel Knight is fun and tons of (smart) retro bang for the buck.

buy the shovel knight with 'treasure' in title. It contains the other one on eshop. Agree that it's great. I love rabbids, and i'd think a board game lover would too. I'd wait for a eshop sale on rabbids though and get all the dlc.

Agreed with all of this except that the one in Undertale is better
