I stumbled into getting the dream nail in Hollow Knight, but I have no idea what it is or what it is for. I'm also currently dealing with the Mantis Lords, who seems achievable but still a pain in the ass, and for some reason feel like the first real bosses of the game.

i need to stop fucking around and just approach hyrule castle in BotW. i'm eager to check out hollow knight!

my last pre-hyrule grind plan was to pick up at least one piece of ancient armor and maybe get 20 ancient arrows or so - do you think that's necessary? or should i just unequip everything and run in there with only my underwear on? these are the only two options

octopath traveller is greeeeeat and exactly perfect for my commutes

KM you don't need that many ancient arrows, but on the other hand they definitely can help!

don't forget to redeem your Nintendo points from your cartridge games by going into the game options on the home screen. it's only 1% back but it adds up. i keep forgetting to do mine.

we packed the entire console, the pro controller and a spare HDMI cable to go on vacation. Such is the death grip that Mario Kart 8 maintains on my family. I’m hoping to get to put in some serious Octopants Travelin’ but unless I get a pass to stay indoors one day I doubt that’ll happen.

Agreed Adam, Captain Toad is really great. So clever how much game they manage to pack into these little vignettes.

i used to play a ton of videogames with my sister growing up, and my only regret is that i didn't somehow find the time to do it even more often. some of my best memories

iconoclasts out next week apparently, that's one of the few remaining games on my indie to-play list
also picross s2 if you've somehow run out of puzzles in the first one

also cosmic star heroine in a few weeks if people want another retro RPG after Octopath, or an alternative to Octopath that isn't 50 hours long

I went all in, sold my Wii and Wii U and pile of Gamecube games and bought me a Switch. Mainly to play Mario Odyssey, since I already had Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild for the Wii U. But... I bought them again because they're stone classics. Which is why I played Mario Kart all evening instead of Mario Odyssey.

Was also thinking of picking up Inside - anyone tried it? I really enjoyed Limbo, but not really interested if it's just a carbon copy in a new skin.

inside does the same thing as limbo more or less, but better and with more impact

i havent played captain toad yet myself but if you've played the demo that's basically all it is afaik - a chill diorama-puzzle game

Yep, it’s more like the demo, difficulty is pitched pretty low but it’s a fun little thing so far.

Captain Toad is very relaxing. Unlike 200cc Mario Kart.

a couple of frustrating levels down to my own terrible game skill but it's been so fun, cute, interesting and cool to work out each lil level
thirty quid seems like a steal for this even if it goes quite quickly

my favorite levels are the puzzleboxy enemy-less ones even if they're pretty easy

Gotta say, these things do ebb and flow, but Nintendo really seems to have hurt its valuation after unveiling virtually nothing at E3.

Kind of infuriating to me that investors are betting heavily against a 100+ year old company based on one media event, it makes me want to buy NTDOY out of annoyance

wait until after the quarterly financial briefing that comes out tomorrow, it was a slow quarter and people who don't understand things like "holidays" and "pokemon" and "smash bros" may panic

Weren't they really against the ropes after the failure of the Wii U? The idea is to maintain momentum, right? System sales? Not sure how many people into Smash don't have a system yet.

They had a sales dud in the Wii U but the 3DS ended up doing okay.

the only time they've been anywhere near the ropes was the gamecube era. Wii U was a failure but Wii and the entire DS/3DS line were such incredible successes that it'll take multiple failures of that magnitude to undo them

The Switch is likely to be a sustained success with consumers and with developers, and I’m willing to bet that iterations on the Switch will be the center of Nintendo’s console and handheld business for many years to come.

It seems like a generally winning combination of their best ideas
