I am seriously considering creating a dupe if I pull a red or purple cover for him because his strength as a PVE battery (or a PVP climb engine) is too high, plus as noted he makes Gwen completely broken (I was prioritizing 5pidey's red over Gwen's until I realized that, at least in BoP, 2 Cherry Bombs + match dmg kills most of the characters I'm fighting).

prof x, riri, ragnarok is fun. rag's red makes blue, riri's blue makes red....

I've seen that combo around but couldn't get it to work for me. I think my problem was a combo of bad board and premature firing of abilities.

anyone have any strong opinions about the change to xp now that it's been there a while? i remember kinda hating it when i read it because i had already recruited every 4* for example but i have noticed it has really attached a rocket pack to my levelling up. i think i got about 2000xp in the past... less than a week? Def helped me get my Agent Coulson champed way ahead of schedule!

much more xp from covers, but no xp gained from some other actions. Donating team-ups for xp was boring and I'm glad that's gone.

XP from getting the initial 13 covers on a 3*/4* character went from 5/10 to 40/80 meaning newer players will get a bigger benefit now, but I don't think it makes a big difference.

lol I have 28 wins now in balance of power, should I go for 40? each win takes me like 1-2 minutes tops. the riri cover is only a champ cover but I dunno, it's fun beating these ridiculous teams so quickly

Do it! I have been weirdly invested in BoP; it's completely meaningless but also super fun.

btw the ilx alliance had for a week or so a member called "feces". my son (who is still in the ilx alliance) noted it lovingly to me, admiring that such a great username had been often so long (was clearly a newbie roster)

I drew my last Phoenix cover! Too bad evidently champing a 5 star ruins the game.

I also drew my last Vulture cover, will champ next after Gambit

and eventually Nova who is great but I keep putting off champing him for other more urgent needs

Champing Nova right before his boost week = personal win

Champing him when I have a 5* Gambattery at 0/0/3 = lol into the air you go, all the time

Throw a boosted Prof X in there and it's just silly; the board fills with special tiles and then I make Prof invisible so he can start buffing them and the whole thing becomes super murdery very quickly

I have been laughing silly at the people proudly sticking C4rol/Medusa on defense

Euler: Phoenix is my only championed 5*. Getting a 5* leveled over around 350 does make PVP a nightmare, but PVE is still easy enough. If you don't have 5 purple covers on Phoenix yet, it might be worth it to champion her and respec.

I just championed 4* Gamora and then got my 13th Rocket & Groot cover. I hear they work well together.

I have her at 5-4-4, I gather 3-5-5 is best so that's an incentive to champ. I don't want to make PVP a nightmare.

I know Vulture has been a big deal for a while now but I just got him to 2/5/1 (still lvl 70) right before this current PVP and holy shit

Even under covered and at that level, he is destroying enemy teams for me. I’m running him with 4* Elektra (5/5/4 lvl 275) and OML (4/3/0 lvl 360) and am basically brutalizing every team I meet without even using OML’s black. In particular, Grocket/Gamora is a joke because I can tank with OML until Vulture either wipes out all of Grocket’s free strikes or Elektra gets enough purple to steal a few and make them super nightmarish; meanwhile Vulture is all “I got 6 black, see yeah never coming back down” so his low level/health don’t matter.

I can see this not working against AOE teams but I haven’t faced any yet.

Just now, I had a match against Vulture/Riri/C4rol that went south in a hurry where I lost both Elektra and OML to C4rol’s AOE retaliation. I still won.

Yeah I haven’t started the pvp yet but I’m gonna put some levels into my fully covered vulture and rip away

I just got a red 5* Gambit cover. Clearly I should add it to my 0/0/3 Gambit but I keep having an overwhelming urge to start a dupe so I don’t break my PVE battery

is the 0/0/? 5* gambit significantly better than the 0/0/? 3* model? i'm starting my 3* battery now

I just did a calculation: I have 90% of the available 4 star covers right now, missing just 74 of the 767 total. It seems like the rate of new 4 stars has slowed, and I'm getting 4 star covers pretty often, most every day. Lots of those are champ levels but I have few badly undercovered 4 stars now. I'll get my last need Wasp cover as a daily reward tonight, and I have an extra cover of hers also, so I'm champing her now. I might try to 900 the Vulture PVP tonight for my 14th Vulture cover too, so I'll champ him after Wasp.

But maybe I'm moving toward the 5 star transition? Gulp.

Just champed XPool. Also slowly leveling Thing, who is at 5/4/3 and is very quickly becoming the cornerstone to my defensive positioning, especially against Grocket/Gamora/Medusa teams. I've found I can usually blunt a large amount of their damage with Thing's passive, which then allows 3* Gambit to use his purple to mop up Grocket's horribly annoying strikes and keep Medusa's healing in check. (I'd use 5* Gambit but I am still holding onto the red and purple covers I got for him because Gambattery + champed Spider-Gwen is giving me lots of life and I am loathe to let it go.)

In the last 4 days since my last post I've gotten 9 more usable 4 star covers, so now I need only 65 more. I've gotten plenty of 4 star champ levels too. I'm finishing champing Wasp now (at 237) & then I guess Kate Bishop since I just drew today a 14th cover for her. O/w it would be Vulture or Nova---I failed to 900 in the Vulture PVP, hit 800 and then got slammed because my Vulture is still way under leveled (133 though 5-5-3).

The current sim PVE is brutal, with those Gambit Rogue Prof X nodes. At least I got my Nicki Minaj

I was getting steamrolled and basically gave up on the first cycle until I hit upon Peggy/Medusa as a combo, at which point I almost literally stopped taking damage and was able to clear them methodically and easily. For the non-required nodes, I used Patch as my 3rd and basically was melting the opposition after casting Berserker Fury/Hair Meddle.

champed boosted peggy + agent venom can handle all those nodes fairly easily

I mean, I was winning (most) every time, with my ridic Spider Woman (she's my highest leveled 4 star), but still, what a pain, with Gambit going nuts & triggering Prof X, while I could only target Rogue most of the time b/c of her weird power + she has big damage reduction. I wasn't taking much damage because of Spider Women, but they were slooooow. I'll get the 8 command points tonight but I won't push any further.

currently champing Nova finally, at 220 now or so. unless I pull another 4 star I already have cover maxed I'll champ Vulture next.

I 266'd Black Panther, my first champ maxed 3 star. I started a second BP then b/c it seems useful to have a champ maxed 3, especially one as good as BP, and because I swim in Hero Points now so roster spots are nbd

also lol that BP gave me the last Mr Fantastic cover I needed. He's better than Elektra but still... Maybe with Disney acquiring the MCU, we'll get better Fantastic Four chars now?

My Agent Venom is only like 150 so *shrug emoji*

I was trying really, really hard to make Spider Woman work, and for a while she would, and then the board would run out of black and it was like WHAM WHAM WHAM dead

Then I switched to Peggy, stunned Gambit and Rogue for three turns so I could down the Prof, then let Peggy's countdowns kill Gambit and Rogue. Easy peasy.

Mr. Fantastic is better than he seems, especially after his rework. Imaginaut is decent once you get some strikes on the board and his stun mixed in with board control can help immensely. (The extra protects are just a bonus.)

Thanks to a recently-champed Grocket and riding Grocket-Gamora-Medusa for the last 200 pts, I hit 2K in the simulator for the first time in months and got that purple Nightcrawler cover, making him not-useless-when-required.

also that combo feels like cheating; there's literally no team I am afraid to attack right now, including that team

I've also been giggling at people who have tried to substitute Gamora with another non-Guardian and then melting their faces

NOM NOM NOM thank you for the strike tiles, I now have either enough purple to steal the rest, enough blue to stun you, or enough green to generate extra AP for three turns, plus every time you match one of my tiles I heal the damage you just did to me

yes it’s so good it gets a bit boring

it's not so powerful that it is better than boosted combos but for shield purposes there's no reason except boredom to use any other team

Gambot/Peter Parker/Spider-Gwen is a real annoyance in PVP now. 5* Gambit is my only auto-skip.

I am very angry that expiring covers made me turn my 0/0/3 5* Gabattery into 1/1/3

Love the new interface that lets you see the gem counts without moving the screen left/right
Also, the PSN version is currently $1.49. Worth a shot or totally pointless without the F2P grind?
