I am very annoyed that I had Kingpin, XPool, Nova, Agent Venom, and Kingpin all lined up at 13 covers during the anniversary event when ISO was literally falling out of the sky and the only 14th cover that came in for me was... Kingpin.

OTOH I champed Devil Dinosaur so now I all need are a bunch of Howard covers and I can delete my account satisfied with a job well done.

I sold at least 5 Devil Dino covers, I'm not gonna champ him anytime soon.

I did champ 4 star Gamora and 4 star Luke Cage during the anniversary.

Now I gotta trudge through leveling a few 2 stars I neglected during those pushes, and then I'll turn to 4 star Rocket and Groot, even without a 14th cover.

I also drew my 12th Phoenix cover, but I guess you're not supposed to level 5 stars unless you want to have to use your 5 star in every PVP. That sounds awful.

Apparently if purple is the dominant color, the game is effectively over because he can BAMF his way into infinite purple collection.

I have been ignoring Black Bolt because I only have 1 green cover for him. That has repeatedly saved my ass on his required node, though; I may throw him at more troublesome goon nodes more often now.

the damage on it isn't so great when he's unboosted. i still use it, it's decent with strike tiles out.

TBH it isn't even the damage that's impressing me (although I'm not complaining about a 6K AOE from a character with one cover), it's being able to completely reset a board that goons have flooded with strike tiles that I can't easily match away. Yes, the AP drain is annoying but that's better than having a stupid Maggia Muscle hit me with a Tommy Gun while 5 overpowered strike tiles are on the board. (Obv Gwenpool would help there too by killing the strikes but I still might eat the AOE.)

I'm taking a break, if anyone wants me to drop the alliance for now, I'll bounce

Any thoughts on 5* Thor? On paper he looks like a killing machine (a 13+K AOE???)

oh jeez i forgot to ask this thread for the advice i wanted to ask for... i'm approaching 120 CP and i have a couple of candidates sitting at 12 covers 4* that i might champ...

- Quake, currently 5/2/5 (thinking maybe her? she needs just that middle cover, and she's no longer in the vault, seems like a prime candidate to sink 120cp into)
- Coulson, currently 3/5/4 (maybe better? but not vaulted yet, and twice the chance to hit his missing cover)
- Kingpin, 4/3/5 (prob not)
- Riri, 2/5/5 (prob not)

Also some key 11/13 covers I am considering just bc I hear they're so good: Thor4 (2/5/4), Red Hulk (5/3/3), Starlord4 (5/4/2)

Of those top 4, Riri or Quake. Quake doesn't hit hard but has a ton of board control and the AOE negation is *kisses fingers*. Riri post-rework is a fucking BEAST; her blue hits decently, creates cascades, and generates a ton of red and her red is a literal Mack truck of awesomeness as long as you're facing 1 or 3 opponents. (It loses half its damage with 2 opponents, something to consider if someone like Vulture is airborne.) Her green is situational but having the ability to zap a dangerous character or halt a countdown so you have enough time to gather AP to get rid of it or kill the airborne enemy once they came back down has saved me multiple times. Coulson is also amazing, particularly with C4rol, but as you say you still have a chance to pull his covers at a higher rate.

As a side note, this may be crazy talk but... consider leveling Thano5, OML, and SS to 270, at least. The higher match damage and synergy between those three can help you a lot in PVE (two true healers to recover from Thanos's black, plus OML will drop strikes after any friendly power that doesn't stun him and SS will charge tiles all over the place, increasing your AP collection potential). I currently have SS and Thanos at 375 and OML at 345 (with no red covers!) and I am clearing out the first 3-4 PVE nodes in 1-2 turns.

(Notice I didn't mention Kingpin. He is very annoying to play now and I only champed him because the covers came in.)

i have never used CP to buy covers -- it's always gone into the classic legends pulls. Now that they've put in 5* covers for 250 CP, I might change that.

The price for leveling covers directly on a 5* is 720 CP so this seems like an amazing bargain to me that I might someday do.

Classic Legends cost 20 CP and have a 1 in 8 chance of drawing a random 5* cover, meaning a random 5* cover costs 160 CP on average (not subtracting for the average of 7 4* covers you'd also get.) Paying 250 CP for a specific one seems good, especially since you get to avoid the bad 5*s that are in there, like Doc Ock and Bruce Banner.

The people talking about using a 0/0/X 5* Gambit in PVE might have a point.

Thanks to the lol that is boosted 5 stars, I stared running 5* Spidey (3/1/4, boosted lvl 398), Spider-Gwen (3/3/4, boosted lvl 251) and 5* Gambit (0/0/3, boosted lvl 345) and I have been stomping all over the Venom event; since Gambit has no active powers, he just sits in the background generating purple for Gwen to flood the board with web tiles and red for Spidey to turn those web tiles into critical tiles, which then pick up 5* match damage and melt the enemy team. Also, Gwen’s purple has a random stun on one enemy and only costs 6 AP, so I’m firing it every third turn even if I actively avoid purple; if I chase it, I can fire it multiple times in a turn and make Spidey into a nightmare.

This wouldn’t work if Gambit had his actives; right now I get 2 red/2 purple each turn but at 5 covers I’d get 3 of each. Add to that the higher baseline match damage he gives you and, while I’d expect to see him eaten alive in PVP, I feel like there are options here to make PVE less Thanos-centric.

Oh, 3* Blade is also boosted so I can swap Gwen out for him and melt faces with attack tiles that are massively discounted due to all the free AP. I also ran Gambit with Thoress in the arena lightning rounds; that was also hilarious.

Yeah I think Gambit's kinda broken. And Spider-Gwen's purple does 2 turns stun to 2 enemies at level 5.
nightcrawler's purple is also brokenly good. i expect some nerfs.

New LOL team for the current PVE (all boosted);

5* Daredevil: 0/1/0 lvl 365
4* Cage: 3/5/5 lvl 379
5* Thor: 0/0/1 lvl 345

This is basically the “you can’t hurt me” team; Cage drops a beefy protect tile every time the enemy team fires a power and Thor’s yellow drops a repeater that drops decent protects every turn. Then the rest of the match becomes chasing green to put Daredevil’s DOT damage out and chasing yellow so Thor can turn all of the protects on the board into strikes and melt faces. (I’d use Hobofist I stress if he was boosted; since Thor adds to the invulnerable side AND can flip the whole board into a lol death trap, I went with him)

Oh, also I got a 5* Thor cover

I dunno if I should try to draw a 5thor with the 25 cp tokens or keep saving them to get 250 to get my last phoenix cover when she comes up. I have ~180cp right now.

DD is the only other 5 star I don't have.

running champed/boosted G4mora + C4ge + Mordo is nice though. I only recently champed my C4ge so this is my first time running him boosted. yeah no one does any damage against me!

I am 2 covers away from max covering Thano5 but I'm spending all my CP on pulls because I need so many covers for most of my other 5*s/4*s

i've champed a bunch of 4 stars lately. my roster is now c4rol, coulson, riri, mordo, bl4de, c&d, hobo fist, medusa, AV, r&g, g4mora, gwenpool, sandman, mockingbird, yondu, luke c4ge, th4r, iceman, and vulture. i'm champing peggy in 2 days.

I’m champing 4rocket now, at 220ish now, have two covers that’ll expire in 3-4 days so it’s gonna be tight

After him I need to do some 2 star work and maybe 3 star too unless I get a 4 star cover that I already have 13 for, eg Nova, Kate Bishop, or Colson whose last cover I can buy tomorrow in the heroes store

I know I could just write "I love <insert random 4* here that uses countdowns> and C4rol" but that particular combo is often lethal.

Carol & Cho were hilarious last week. I learned from the AI how lethal popping his blue countdown tile repeatedly is

My favorite is AI C4rol and Medusa when the AI starts popping Medusa’s countdown before getting any special tiles on the board; it’s like it’s trying to help me save health packs.

sold three champmaxed two stars to get the iso to champ 4rocket, now I gotta relevel those two stars to keep up the farm. it'll take a week but it's worth it. I guess 3-5-5 is the best 4rocket build? it's those sweeeeet strike tiles that matter I think. even using him at 220 yesterday I was taking out the deadpool daily node in two moves.

I bought the coulson cover too so now he's fully covered. so after these 2 stars either I'll level 3star lord or coulson or nova or kate bishop. (also have had agent venom at 13 covers for a loooong time but he's annoying)(& lol devil dino)

you'll never use his blue so make that 3 and the other two 5

I drew my 13th spider gwen cover the other day, so now she's too on my long list of 13covered 4 stars to champ (after coulson, after nova, etc.)

I was starting to hoard and went "you know what, I want Gambit and Spidey" and spent 50 of the 57 CP I'd built up just to see what happened

I saved 140 CP before giving up and splurging. I got two 5* Thanos, a Silver Surfer and a bunch of 4*s I didn't need. that was great -- thanos was what i was saving up for. i think i learned the wrong lesson from this.

ppl on the D3Go forums are complaining that 5* Gambit is overpowered because they had to use health packs after figuring out how to beat him

there are plenty of reasonable arguments for Gambit being OP but that is not one of them

My 5pidey/Gwen/Gambattery team upthread is undeniably fun

I got my 16 wins super quick with medusa+gamora+grocket, very very fast, like 2 minutes per match. now I have like 2+ days left in the event. dunno if I will push higher but it was fun while it lasted!

medusa+gamora+grocket is the THE team du jour, in shield sim last season it was 95% of my offered matches (I skipped EVERY one, it is deadly).

oh yes it sucks for sure; I would often be able to beat it but my team was so badly torn up that I needed health packs for everyone

the best counter I had was "bring your own Medusa, match as many strikes as you can to mitigate the pain until you hit 10 purple, hope Hair Meddle steals the rest"

do you have to run Hair Meddle at 5 then? for the saving grace of Medusa is her heal
