Nintendo first party games have always tended to hold their price, unless they are a total disaster like Metroid Other M. There is a half price line of games for the 3DS though http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-selects
― ( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 14 September 2017 14:41 (eight years ago)
Some first party games at this point may cost less as download titles than physically, since the physical versions will be out of print and overpriced by Amazon robots
― .oO (silby), Thursday, 14 September 2017 14:42 (eight years ago)
also these games are being added to the Selects line in October - Super Mario 3D Land, Kirby's Triple Deluxe and Luigi's Mansion 2.

Nintendo handheld games for first-party stuff, going back as far as GBA at least, always hold value

― the ghost of tom, choad (thomp), Friday, 15 September 2017 08:57 (eight years ago)
ha, yeah - it could easily have toppled over into 'lol so random' minions-style larfs but it toes the line perfectly

Octopath Traveller demo (square enix new-old school rpg coming as Switch exclusive) is up on the estore and its EXCELLENT.
― jamiesummerz, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:43 (eight years ago)
Golden Sun vibes imo
― .oO (silby), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:45 (eight years ago)
is that good or bad
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:57 (eight years ago)
I thought golden sun was on the boring side and was only notable for being on handheld
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 15:58 (eight years ago)
I was a teenager when I started Golden Sun and maybe a young adult when I finished it I don't remember but I liked it and this game made me recall Golden Sun fondly, in particular the rhythm of the core combat mechanic of breaking and bursting reminded me of the Djinn system of unleashing and summoning. I bet this game is reminiscent of things that older people or people with different touchstones from the aughts might think of as more noteworthy but yknow I've never actually played a Final Fantasy other than FF Tactics Advance and uh the weird cartoony one for DS.
― .oO (silby), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 17:00 (eight years ago)
ah ok. visually this is very much trying to be FF6 but 2.5d-ized. I haven't seen the combat system yet so I can't speak to that
― ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 September 2017 17:18 (eight years ago)
i like how it looks but the unskippable text and tiresome first attempts at fighting aren't helping

Nintendo stock is on a good run
― calstars, Thursday, 21 September 2017 01:44 (eight years ago)
Thank goodness for that, I sometimes worry Disney will try to buy them.

lol the audio sounds so wimpy
― just another (diamonddave85), Thursday, 21 September 2017 16:37 (eight years ago)
switch runs a lot of stuff at 900p or adaptive resolution which lets it cheat on its specs a bit
― ciderpress, Thursday, 21 September 2017 17:25 (eight years ago)
Octopath Traveller demo is gooood (if you read faster than the voice acting)
― you are juror number 144 and we will excuse you (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 21 September 2017 17:58 (eight years ago)

Golf Story on Thursday
― thos beads (jamescobo), Tuesday, 26 September 2017 01:52 (eight years ago)
its weird no one seems to have seen or played it yet, pretty much no information released in advance other than the trailer
― ciderpress, Tuesday, 26 September 2017 02:01 (eight years ago)
Golf Story is legit, Earthbound meets GBA Mario Golf. Might be the most Aussie game ever? Crikey!
― ( X '____' )/ (zappi), Thursday, 28 September 2017 17:58 (eight years ago)
yeah relieved to hear it's good. will grab it this weekend along with picross
― ciderpress, Thursday, 28 September 2017 18:07 (eight years ago)

have also heard good things from multiple sources about steamworld dig 2 so that's in my queue as well
― ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:11 (eight years ago)
I assumed it was a Terraria type game but apparently it's more like a metroidvania
― ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:12 (eight years ago)
the first steamworld dig was a real pleasant surprise, might give the sequel a shot
i've only played about 45 minutes or golf story but it's a lot of fun so far - v charming

― Mordy, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:18 (eight years ago)
it's only in the switch eshop
― ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:19 (eight years ago)
ah ok good to know
― Mordy, Friday, 29 September 2017 14:20 (eight years ago)
putting is bothering me on golf story but earthbound comparison is correct
― Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Friday, 29 September 2017 15:19 (eight years ago)
Oh my god, there's gonna be a Steamworld Dig sequel! I love the first one so much, it might be one of my favorite platformers ever! I've been wishing for a sequel since the second I finished the first one (only flaw was that it seemed too short, imo)
― Dan I., Friday, 29 September 2017 17:54 (eight years ago)
Such an awesome feeling of progression as you gain additional powerups in that game. By the end you are effortlessly bouncing around the mines, practically flying
― Dan I., Friday, 29 September 2017 17:55 (eight years ago)
xp it's already out, on PC and switch at least
― ciderpress, Friday, 29 September 2017 17:57 (eight years ago)
yeah, going to get that one. golf story does not appeal.
