I was scaning forum topics and came across a "what are the fastest PVE teams" thread:

The answers show a pretty wide roster diversity, even though there are a couple of characters that people lean on, which is great. There are so many great characters that do so many cool things that you can figure out a team that suits your playstyle and go to town. (AI defense is still an issue but it's great seeing people use so many different characters to get through PVE nodes.)

I've already seen two teams that look like brutal goon stompers:

5Panther/Thano5/Strang3 or 5Strange

This works if you have 1 red for 5Panther and 1 black for Thano5. Every time a goon fires a power, Strange hits for damage with his passive. When the first goon dies, Thano5 stuns everyone with his black passive and does AOE damage to the opposing team. When the stun wears off, 5Panther's red passive does more damage. The downside is that you will tear through health packs but the matches are ridiculous once the Thano5/5Panther chain starts.

M4rvel/St4r Lord/4R+G

R&G's yellow passive gives you four strike tiles right at the outset, which are boosted by the presence of St4r Lord. When goons start firing powers, St4r Lord's yellow passive floods the board with countdowns that make C4rol's yellow cost 3AP, meaning with 1 yellow match you can pop any of them at will to buff the strike tiles that are out there, or just wait for them to resolve on their own. St4r Lord also reduces the cost of his red nuke, which is buffed by the strike tiles and all of his countdowns. You can throw out more countdowns with R&G's blue (which also gives you attack tiles) and green and C4rol's black (which gives you more strikes), plus you will get more special tiles that C4rol can buff with the resolution of St4r Lord's countdowns. I tried this on the last PVE node in the Unstable ISO event with a lvl 70 R&G and, within 6 turns, I had boosted the strike tiles on the board so much that I was doing between 4K-6K damage per match.

I don't have St4r Lord so I sub Gamora and since I don't have all that synergy w/ C4rol I've been using Medusa instead. Grocket is amazing tho, even unbuffed. I've been using them in PVP and I can tear down a bl4de or c4rol in about 3-4 turns. the only problems are it struggles against really high HP chars and in really long fights (esp if a lot of your strikes get matched it can get slow going). i'll often end a match w/ the grocket green or blue (or both) to help finish things off. atm i'm using Grocket/Medusa for the Colossus PVP and even without the GoG synergy they're still wrecking.

I haven't put any ISO into 4Grocket yet so I haven't really been using them, which is verrrrry likely to change now as this team is faster than my 5* SS/OML/Thano5 team on higher-level enemies and takes less damage. As long as there's a goon around to power St4r Lord's passive, it's insane how quickly damage escalates; I have yet to get to a match that lasted long enough for me to collect enough purple to fire St4r Lord's third power since I started using them together.

C4arol + Daken + Loki is lots of fun but not against bots

I really think C4rol is a better character than Iceman and Peggy at this point; there are too many other characters out there with passive powers that can completely circumvent Peggy's big edge and too many ways to knock Iceman out of the fight before he can start punching/Whiteout casting you for them to be as scary/dangerous as they used to be.

Meanwhile, every time I venture into PVP I see a billion Bl4de/C4rol/Medusa teams and think "ugggggggggh"

yeah PVP has gotten a lot more fun since champing all three of them, Bl4de/C4rol/Medusa.

I don't see Peggy out much anymore (have her champed too). & I champed Iceman finally a bit ago but I also don't see how he's so great. He's so slow. I guess run with IM40 but lots of others are good with IM40 (like 4Thor) and his health is a liability.

When Iceman first came onto the scene, he was capable of destroying an entire team by himself. Power creep has made him obsolete but the player base doesn't acknowledge that yet when ranking characters; Peggy at least has her blue to fall back on which can single-handedly save a game for you.

Like, everyone now gets that Hulkbuster is no longer terrifying but people are enthralled with Iceman's theoretical Whiteout numbers without looking at what he actually does most of the time, which is decent but no longer crippling given how much health characters now have.

yeah Iceman and Hulkbuster were both lust objects of mine for a long time & I only champed them in the last six months finally, and they've been disappointments. At least I had Je4n champed while she was still top shelf.

Peggy's blue & red are outstanding; I don't think she's fallen off a lot but yes, the recent spate of passives demote her somewhat.

Oh agreed, her other abilities make up for characters being designed to circumvent her horribly-unfair-at-the-time passive, but she isn't as scary as she used to be.

scored top 5 in thick as thieves so my gamora will be max covered (thru prodigal son's progression - 2 gamora covers!) so now i have colossus, sentry and g4mora to champ over the next couple weeks. that's a lot of iso needed! i was thinking i might just trash some of the colossus or sentry covers and focus on champing g4mora both bc i think she'll be ridiculous with grocket (next season sim medusa/grocket/g4mora exclusively!) and bc her covers are worth more in the end.

Nice! I drew a bunch of Mordo covers so I'm champing him now. I also finally drew my last needed Nova cover so maybe he's next. I have...six fully covered 4 stars to cover now. As ever the iso's the problem.

kind of grinding around because I have another couple characters I can champ, even some covers on deck to use when I have the iso, twiddling my thumbs

C4rol + boosted Blad3 = lol

Enemy matches are giving me black so I don't even have to chase it, just collect as much purple and yellow as I can; as soon as I can fire Blad3's black, I do, dropping an ever-renewing 1-turn cooldown. Blad3 has usually dropped some strikes for buffing at this point, so I drop his purple for the attack tiles and then start spamming C4rol's yellow to make everything on the board silly. I think so far my best boost has given me 10K match damage and 15K attack hits, allowing me to melt the other team regardless of who they've brought. The only times I've lost have been when I've been too cocky in PVE and gone in under half health only to be hit by an unlucky cascade.

I put in Strang3 as a third and any node with goons on it becomes hilarious.

I started leveling G4mora after covering her at 4/5/4 and... holy shit

Granted, she's boosted in this event but STILL. Her black is silly. (Add in C4rol and gg)

So many great black skills - carol, hobofist, gamora... c&d is essential for generating

I got two Spidey (the 5* Peter Parker) covers and he's boosted in the current event. Even with just one each of green/blue he's kind of fun

champed g4mora and she's a joy. also finished champing all my 3*'s (except for Elektra) and got the last cover i needed for c4ge so that's my next project (once i've champed this 2* hawkeye for my farm).

FINALLY gonna champ Cloak & Dagger, yay

They're a lot of fun. I'm getting close to champing iceman. I'd love to champ Vulture he's like next level

There are so many good characters out there now, it's ridiculous.

In the current PvE, I started running Medusa/DocOck/Bl4de and it was just silly at points with the healing/AP gen/free attack tiles/tile buffing/oh look Bl4de is Bloodlusting, gg

i run medusa/grocket/g4mora in pve and pvp. they'll probably nerf it at some pt it's super dominant. i can regularly hit 900 pts in pvp using it

I rrrrreally need some Grocket and Medusa covers.

Medusa is nuts. I'm a couple of covers away on both Grocket and G4mora.

I champed 4 star Iron Fist a couple of days ago, now I'm champing lol Ghost Rider because I have an extra cover & because after the buff he's not as terrible.

Yeah, I'm gonna miss buffed Bl4de after this week.

Nice. My C4ge is at 2-5-5 and I have the cp to buy the other but I dunno, six+ 4/5 star covers are a lot to give up for just one. He's very good but not game changing and I have lots of champed 4 stars already. So I dunno.

no reason to rush c4ge imo esp since we just went through all his boosted events (the defenders) - we probably have some time until he's boosted again

still trying to 270 ghost rider, having an extra cover expiring in 2 days but only at 241, it's looking bad for that cover, but I think I'll finish the 270'ing anyway & then draw the cps -> legendaries.

btw after having used my champed boosted war machine a lot this last week, I can say he really sucks & needs a buff. in a way he's like falcap: one good bomb (that would be even better if invisible tiles & protect tiles mattered in this game) & two lame abilities. green at 5 gives three countdown tiles blasts that suck even when buffed to 370+.

my iceman is one cover away from being maxed (gonna get it during this lockjaw pve) and then i think i'm bonusing vulture to try and complete him soon. he's like the 4* IM40 and consequently probably going to be super important to the meta.

I was traveling when he was introduced so I only got the one cover from 2000ing the shield sim last season. he seems great!

With C&D boosted and a new champ for me, I decided to build a team around them:

lvl 345 OML 4/2/0
lvl 272 C&D 4/4/5
lvl 345 Thano5 4/2/4

Basically, I use C&D to collect black and get some attack tiles, drop OML's black strikes, hit C&D's purple and do match damage while OML and C&D heal back up to full and the attack/strike combo + Court Death murders the other team. Also, C&D's purple is doing 4K damage by itself and if I need to hit C&D's yellow before flipping them in order to keep OML capable of generating strikes, I get a 4K AOE because few if any of the enemies in this PvE are dropping strike/protect/attack tiles. The only nodes this is "bad" on is the early ones, where Court Death wipes out the entire team before OML and C&D can heal. I think I've used a total of 3 health packs while clearing and I do not miss having someone who can use blue. Than05 is tanking most of the colors, too; OML gets red and yellow and T gets everything else, so very little is touching C&D aside from Court Death.

If I had a red cover for OML, I would try this in PvP.

Had no idea the Cosmic Token Store was happening. Pulled a black Thano5 cover from it, making him 4/2/5. I may start leveling him again, assuming the PvE scaling issues have actually been addressed.

Haven't played PVP in a while - didn't realize they changed the reward system so now you get stuff for wins, regardless of PVP rank? That seems... good?

they ran it for a (short) season that ended yesterday, now there's another short season that's back to the old way. I guess they're testing the new way. I think I like it but it doesn't really matter that much to me.

I have 30 champed 4 stars now, having champed Riri yesterday. I have a fully covered Cloak & Dagger with 2 extra covers so that's next.

After that I have 5 more fully covered 4 stars, with Gamora & Nova at the top of the list. I'm one cover away with Coulson & C4ge, and two away with Rocket & Groot. I want all three of those.

The newer ones seem good, Yondu, Mockingbird, etc., but covers are coming slowly. It feels like the pace of new characters has slowed of late, though.

Thoughts on Rogue?

Apparently at some point I decided to park my Prof X at 209 so I was very happy with my unintentional foresight.

looks like the mutants are allowed in freemium games again. hopefully MvC Infinite gets some too.

Damn, the lvl 209 gate is frustrating and effective at getting me to kinda play the game more. but there's no way for me to Prof X to that level without spending tons of CP, so i'll just have to stop at tier 3.

I saw something about Daredevil being the next required 5* and decided to blow through the 300+ CP I'd started hoarding in an attempt to get him. I ended up with a 2/4/1 5* Spidey and fully covering Medusa, XPool, and Kingpin. Also have Totally Awesome Hulk at 270 with a cover ready for champing. No Daredevil, though.

Medusa and Carnage make a fantastic team.
