has anyone played battlefield 1? is it worth the $30 it's currently on sale for on PSN?

Mordy, Saturday, 4 March 2017 23:44 (nine years ago)

I like it! And would say yes. Though I have been playing almost exclusively with a friend, can't say for sure if it's as fun if you're going solo.

circa1916, Sunday, 5 March 2017 00:26 (nine years ago)

Yeah, it's worth it.

Gukbe, Sunday, 5 March 2017 00:36 (nine years ago)

apparently i can get it bundled with titanfall 2 for $50. that seems like a really good deal.

Mordy, Sunday, 5 March 2017 00:48 (nine years ago)

i guess my only question now is which one should i play first?

Mordy, Sunday, 5 March 2017 00:49 (nine years ago)

If you're playing multiplayer, probably BF1. TF2 multi is really good, but there's a bit of a learning curve that I still haven't seemed to overcome. Always getting my ass kicked in a mech. Single player you'd be better off with TF2 I guess. I'm not terribly stoked on it (too handhold-y) but I seem to be firmly in the minority there.

circa1916, Sunday, 5 March 2017 00:56 (nine years ago)

i like the TF2 campaign a lot. it's a v generically written game but the gameworld and the mechanics are plenty evocative on their own. i just finished the sequence in the manufacturing lab and i thought it was a pretty clever level.

Mordy, Monday, 6 March 2017 03:29 (nine years ago)

Grrrr! I bought this for my bf only a couple months back and paid $80 for it grumble.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 6 March 2017 03:32 (nine years ago)

it's crazy how quickly things get discounted now. and i have such a games backlog that i rarely feel pressure to buy a game new.

Mordy, Monday, 6 March 2017 03:46 (nine years ago)

reviews really good for nier 2 so far

removed from the rain drops and drop tops of experience (ulysses), Wednesday, 15 March 2017 21:06 (nine years ago)

Bloodborne imo but probably depends on what u like in a game! Xp

art, Wednesday, 15 March 2017 21:06 (nine years ago)

ya im actually getting it bc i want to play mgs 5

shld i get the first or second one?

and im open to suggestions

might trade off human interaction for console interaction

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 15 March 2017 21:22 (nine years ago)

I think the greatest hits thing includes the main MGS V and the prologue thing that was early released

the first part is just one large mission and sets up the background for the main game

mh 😏, Wednesday, 15 March 2017 23:02 (nine years ago)

Not quite true - there is one large story mission, which then unlocks several short missions on the same map, each of which is really fun, can be beaten in many difft ways, and takes place at difft times of day

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 16 March 2017 09:41 (nine years ago)

correction -- I didn't spend enough time on the prologue and should return to it because I mainly did the main mission :)

mh 😏, Thursday, 16 March 2017 15:02 (nine years ago)

It's "arcadey" in a way. I used to go back to the side missions a lot just to see how quickly I could beat them, or to see if I could go completely undetected etc

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 16 March 2017 15:04 (nine years ago)

Ground Zeroes is super polished (moreso than TPP) and is crucial to the MGSV story and has probably the best base map in any MGS game. the side ops you can run are all a lot of fun and can be super challenging, i spent a good 50 hours (???) on this prologue.

that mission where you snipe two guys from afar -- let's see you sneak in and safely extract them!
that mission where you must blow up 3 anti-aircraft guns and a tank -- let's see you do that with no weapons!

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 16 March 2017 15:29 (nine years ago)

pussied out btw

import reviews of that have been terrible tho :(

really! didn't hear.

Bobson Dugnutt (ulysses), Wednesday, 29 March 2017 14:53 (nine years ago)

Nier 2 is confoundingly great. it isn't one of Platinum's tighter games (it will probably feel janky AF to anyone who's played Bayonetta or Revengeance) and a bunch of saving/loading issues feel incredibly archaic, but I just got the main ending after ~35 hours of playtime and I loved pretty much every second. I really want to make Chrono Trigger comparisons - it's a collaboration between a bunch of genre titans, multiple endings are crucial, it explores a big complex topic through multiple viewpoints, etc. it was so much fun that I've barely had time to play The Show 17, although I think I'm gonna try to get through Night in the Woods before I vanish down that rabbit hole for another year. meanwhile I still need to find time to play P5 and Y0 and (apparently) HZD. this is a daunting volume of video gamery to be facing when the bombs could start falling any day now.

Huh?

Btw, since I STILL keep getting confused on these two, which one(s) are actually good?
Nioh and Nier?

Probably gonna pick up some BF deals, most likely one or both Yakuzas from this year and maybe Tekken 7/MvC Infinite

Nhex, Tuesday, 21 November 2017 21:36 (eight years ago)

Haven't played either but it seems like Nioh is somewhat like Dark Souls and Nier is more Bayonetta-ish? They're both supposed to be good.

reggae mike love (polyphonic), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 21:41 (eight years ago)

nier automata is great

Haha so glad to hear somebody else say that, because nobody ever really seems to believe me when I talk about it.

JimD, Saturday, 25 November 2017 15:06 (eight years ago)

first played it on the dreamcast (and then again on xbox) but vr is really the technology it's been waiting for since 2001 - the sense of being J A C K E D I N to this retro-gibson cyberspace world is amazing

still struggling a bit with motion sickness and i wish the screen was a bit more high-res but i'm really impressed by the kit overall

do you have the normal PS4 or the pro? Hesitant to upgrade to the latter for a few reasons

mh, Saturday, 25 November 2017 15:56 (eight years ago)

just a regular first-gen ps4, which often sounds like an airplane taking off nowadays :(

Someday you kids will realize that there’s more important stuff to worry about, than what games you get in any given month of PS+. I still play Galak-Z; I’m getting my PS3 back tomorrow and intend to enjoy the hell out of the offerings there. I also have a Vita and PS4.. there’s games which scored highly that I’ve never gotten around to, yet fully intend to play, eventually.

The thing is, I have hobbies outside of video games. That’s not even touching the responsibilities which every actual, grown-ass human being needs to worry about…. I mean, back in the day I worried about the RIAA pounding down the door of a little old lady, trying to charge her for what a hacker did with her connection.

Call the freaking WHAAMMbulance! ….or try to play some of the games that you gripe about. Maybe after you’ve watched a friend or three die, you’ll realize that video games aren’t that important.

my boy is asking for one of these now, despite our just getting a switch, bc his friends are playing fortnite online I guess. I've never played a sony console before but it's cool, I want to play persona 5 & other jrpgs so between switch & this, life is good. But what I wanna know is: is the "slim" model the way to go in 2018 or should I spend more for the PRO model. we don't have a 4k tv and are unlikely to get one in the next 3 years or so.

droit au butt (Euler), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 17:42 (eight years ago)

the regular is probably fine. but note that some games are starting to get "optimized" for the Pro so they get better frame rates and such, like the Shadow of the Colossus remake coming out next month

Nhex, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 18:41 (eight years ago)

persona 5 is really good. really long. i may even finish it some day soon. i've got nier automata and yakuza 0 on the docket.

Mordy, Tuesday, 23 January 2018 18:47 (eight years ago)

yeah yakuza looks cool, I know Tokyo now and open world ish games in cities I know are great (one reason I don’t connect w most Rockstar open worlds, I don’t know LA or NYC or Miami)

droit au butt (Euler), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 18:55 (eight years ago)

should I spend more for the PRO model.

in my opinion you should spend more for the pro model. It's worth it for the superior hardware specs, not just the 4k.
