Took a look at metacritic. Yeah, it's reviewing very well. Wow. My brother is buying it tomorrow, guess I know how I'll spend my weekend.

i mean im sure zelda is really good but this is the kinda of praise that EVERY zelda game gets initially

i played one of the recent ones for wii - it was like a zelda rpg? idk you run around a bunch following directions and fight these huge mobs of soldiers and i don't remember there being any puzzles and it was multiplayer? it kinda blew.

Skyward Sword got a lot of criticism for the motion controls (and there was a lot of back and forth if the reviewers even understood how they worked) and the sheer amount of info text/tutorials.

Which put me off and I couldn't be bothered after the first hour.

I never figured out the motion controls. Bought it with my little brother, I have still not made it past the first dungeon :(

Mordy, sounds like you played Hyrule Warriors which was a Dynasty Warriors game with Zelda trappings.

I loved Skyward Sword motion controls and all, looking forward to the new approach too though

The third main criticism was how linear it was, and/or how there was nothing to explore.

I would mind that too much. I was mainly scared off by the long cutscenes and hearing that every time you load the game up and get rupees (money) it tells you what they are every time.
I might give it another shot someday.

OoT is supposedly the highest rated game ever, yet I find it painful and uninteresting. This though, looks right up my alley.

I look forward to my trip to India in which I'll cut grass, smash pots and bump into trees and lug those huge rupees around in my brown cloth bag.

drop the Switch on concrete
punch the controls out of the holder
eat Switch gamecards

Re: Zelda - Critics seem to like the part where you have to forage for food and cook yourself a meal to heal yourself (or something)? Yeah, I wish MarioKart made you spend time at the mechanic between races.

Blasphemy I know but I found A Link To The Past tedious too often, although I have fond memories of parts of it. I love Link's Awakening but the Zelda series is a rare example of me mostly preferring the 3d games. Ocarina is my favourite.

i need to replay LttP. i loved it when i had it but i almost can't seem to go back to it. like Super Mario World, it feels almost too perfect.

I think Super Mario World is a vastly better game.

Well I'm Hitler then. There's lots of great parts but most of it Is a chore. Too much fucking walking and the dungeons were too dull.

Final Fantasy VI (ファイナルファンタジーVI Fainaru Fantajī Shikkusu?, also known as Final Fantasy III for its initial North American release) is the best zelda game

I really enjoyed Twilight Princess but it comes across as very compromised. There was said to be lots of direction changes during development. I think Zant was originally supposed to be the end boss but then they changed it to be more like Ocarina to secure western sales.
I think the wolf transformation thing was a waste of time because they didn't really do much with it.

Wasn't much into Windwaker apart from "KABOOM! SPLAAAASH!"

Link Between Worlds is super fun too, although not better than LTTP.

If I had gotten around to Ocarina before Twilight Im willing to believe it could have felt less awesome but I played them in the wrong order so to me, Twilight felt pretty revelatory.

I'm not planning on buying a Switch since I don't play much games anymore, but it's sort of killing me that I can't play Breath of the Wild.

I'm going to get one later this year after some more patches and indies have come out. I pretty much agree with everything the blue puppet said.

twlight princess has some of the coolest dungeons of the 3d zeldas but overall as a game its a distant 4th to ocarina majora windwaker imo

(still b etter than skyward sword and possibly those weird DS ones that ive never played nor heard any praise for)

actually maybe distant is too harsh, i do enjoy it
