between HIB 17, the Capcom one and this one in 3 weeks they're killing it a little too hard for my wallet

Nhex, Wednesday, 31 August 2016 00:17 (seven years ago) link

synchronicity with the latest http://www.filfre.net/ article, which was about Sierra/KQ4 and made me super nostalgic for Sierra games even though the general gist was that KQ4 was horrible and impossible and not even fun (but had good sound)

I sort of want the Gabriel Knights and QfGs but the "pay more" options are a bit pricy for a bunch of elderly games which I'll never play and which were probably immensely frustrating so maybe I'll just put down a buck for the Space Quests and Police Quests

(I think PQ1 was my first graphical adventure? People say it's ridiculous how often you die, ohh man you die just because you didn't walk round the car before driving wah wah waah, but I played when I was young and quite bad at even basic game interaction and saving/dying every 20 seconds was all part of the game to me, constant instadeath not really bothering me tbh. PQ2 however, where I left the scene of the crime prematurely after my colleague told me to chase the bad guy and I got stuck in an insoluble state... or that annoying chasm walk in KQ3 which was bad enough the first time but should definitely have been unnecessary all subsequent times...)

Some decent minimum-tier games on humblebundle.com
Odallus: The Dark Call -- A platformer inspired by Castlevania: SOTN. Got a big gameplay overhaul a few months ago.
Broken Age
Titan Souls

Einstein, Kazanga, Sitar (abanana), Sunday, 30 October 2016 06:23 (seven years ago) link

I mixed up Odallus and Slain. Both based on SOTN but Slain was the overhauled one.

calstars, Wednesday, 23 November 2016 21:43 (seven years ago) link

dishonored 2 for $35, mankind divided for $25 and x-com 2 for $30 all on amazon. i could get... 1 or maybe 2 of them. can anyone rate them?

Mordy, Thursday, 24 November 2016 16:41 (seven years ago) link

also far cry 4 for $15 and the division for $20

Mordy, Thursday, 24 November 2016 19:40 (seven years ago) link

Might as well just rename this holiday Backlog Day. Already dipped on Overwatch last week, Mad Max and Borderlands: Handsome Collection today, agonizing on how much more money I want to waste. Tempted on this year's Deus Ex, Doom, MGSV complete, Star Wars: Battlefront complete with the new Rogue One DLC, Witcher 3 complete, GTAV, MKXL all ~$25 from different retailers. Also some cheap older ones like the the Assassin's Creeds Unity/Syndicate ($8) and countless $4 blu-rays. Peer pressure me, guys.

And I've barely scraped GMG and Steam for their deals...

Nhex, Thursday, 24 November 2016 22:49 (seven years ago) link

I can highly recommend Witcher 3

Mordy, Thursday, 24 November 2016 22:50 (seven years ago) link

i picked up mankind divided for $25 and prodded my single friend w/ more disposable income to buy all the other good deals so i can borrow them from him when he's done

Mordy, Friday, 25 November 2016 16:42 (seven years ago) link

my stupid black friday purchase was to pick up rear speakers + centre speaker to turn my 2.0 hifi into a 5.0 hifi (dunno if i'll ever bother getting the .1)

are ps4 games good w/ surround sound?

mint challop (Will M.), Friday, 25 November 2016 16:47 (seven years ago) link

Generally yes. I used to have 5.1 but moved my setup to a smaller room and haven't yet been bothered to connect the rear speakers, and I definitely miss the extra info they gave me in eg Destiny

mentioned it in the wrong thread, but they're already running out of keys for new buyers on certain games (guessing this happened past the 100k mark), so might as well get in now

Nhex, Wednesday, 15 February 2017 01:24 (seven years ago) link

Nhex, Friday, 17 February 2017 02:14 (seven years ago) link

bummer for gog that they do literally the same discounts on the games they share with steam a week earlier and no one cares :(
