This is the first World of Warcraft thread for ILG

So I'm in Karazhan for the first time since February, half guild, half PUG. The main tank is a prot pally from another raiding guild who:

- doesn't know what gear he needs as a prot pally
- doesn't understand why most raiding guilds stopped raiding in advance of the expansion pack (duh new gear that will make old tier gear obselete)
- wiped the raid by turning Nightbane so that his tail knocked half the raid into the charred earth
- wiped the raid by pulling all five exploding ghost mobs in the room in front of opera
- wiped the raid by BUBBLING WHILE TANKING PRINCE

I'm never going to complain about feeling like an underperformer ever again. It was kind of nice going in there after not raiding for 7 months and healing like a fiend for most of the run; love love love LOVE the neck trinket from Sunwell!

Bascially! He tried to pull two with his Avenging Shield and ended up aggroing two across the room, which then aggroed a patrol. It was kind of epic.

He also pulled 2 tables and a waiter in the Moroes room all at once via a really awful pull but we managed to get through that.

I'd like to thank daily quests and random epic drops for making this possible before the expansion pack came out.

Of course you do! I just wanted to cross this one off the list. (lol, just like how I got my epic horse right before BC came out; I really like to wait until the last minute on the mounts)

some RL friends and i started a guild a while back and we're trying to kill Illidan before the patch hits. we're praying the patch doesn't come out 'til the week after next because our last few weeks of attempts have been petty rough.

i've been sort of deflated by all the changes coming up - not sure if i'll keep playing after i hit 80.

Gametrailers have been having a "History of Warcraft" series, which are generally pretty interesting, but what I learned from the WoW one (plus some Wiki-ing):

WoW started from two players chatting shit on EverQuest.
One was Rob Pardo, who happened to be Vice President of Game Design at Blizzard.
The other was 'Tigole', aka Jeff Kaplan, just some dude who played a lot of EverQuest, who was then hired as Lead Designer for World of Warcraft.

Rob Pardo staged a riot on Everquest because Paladins and Shadow Knights were out-tanking Warriors.
Some people think that this is why Paladins suck, and why Death Knights will suck.
It's unclear whether this is true, but repeatedly asking this question during Q&A at Blizzcon will get you thrown out. I know, I was shocked too.

I just ran around in a group of 70s that cleared out a lvl 75 instance (Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom)

Were they all super-epicc'd out? I heard that high enough epics can get you through to like... level 75 before you need to work on getting better equipment.

They were needing blues from the instances, so I don't think they were super geared.

It's not happening for me. I've been collecting lvl 73 blues that I'm still not sure I would use over my current epic gear, some of which still is from Kara.

When I played I used to have a ton of addons, and my screen didn't look like that. There are addons that make your WoW look nice and neat and shuffles everything to the sides. (Also, no threat meter? Clearly a non-raider!)
