anyone want keys for knights of the old republic and sequel?

Someone take those, so good
Humble Monthly pretty decent again with Wasteland 2 and I Am Bread this month. South Park/This War Of Mine doesn't sound bad, though i assume the rest of the games will suck
― Nhex, Friday, 4 March 2016 23:14 (ten years ago)
Talos Principle down 75% off this weekend.
Anyone want Contraption Maker?
― Darkest Cosmologist junk (kingfish), Saturday, 5 March 2016 04:34 (ten years ago)
Sure, I'll take those KOTOR keys if no-one else wants them - never played them even though everyone rants about how great they are!
― thomasintrouble, Sunday, 6 March 2016 18:33 (ten years ago)
If like me you've got an inexplicable soft spot for bad early cd-rom fmv, Return to Zork is cheap on gog at the moment. Zork Nemesis too, if you fancy a not too bad myst-like (also with a fair bit of fmv).
― JimD, Sunday, 6 March 2016 23:37 (ten years ago)
return to zork is v underrated imo.
― Mordy, Sunday, 6 March 2016 23:38 (ten years ago)
want some rye?
all are fun but i maintain that grand inquisitor is the best of these.
― remove butt (abanana), Sunday, 6 March 2016 23:41 (ten years ago)
well you're not as bad as you smell
― Mordy, Sunday, 6 March 2016 23:54 (ten years ago)
I think Grand Inquisitor probably did a better job of recreating the tone of the original Zorks, but as a result felt a bit too knowing and less plain odd than those other two. Anyway GI is cheap atm too. Plus Dirk Benedict!
― JimD, Monday, 7 March 2016 00:21 (ten years ago)
thomasintrouble, i webmailed u those kotor keys - enjoy!
― the uniqueness of our billionaires (bizarro gazzara), Monday, 7 March 2016 12:49 (ten years ago)
Tempted by that Star Wars HB, but I hear some noise about the GOG versions having the superior iMuse versions of the old games. Any truth to that?
― Nhex, Monday, 7 March 2016 19:36 (ten years ago)
I think Grand Inquisitor probably did a better job of recreating the tone of the original Zorks, but as a result felt a bit too knowing and less plain odd than those other two.
otm, at least about GI and RtZ. nemesis basically isn't a zork game -- it's just a second-tier mystlike, which is high praise considering how many mystlikes there were and how many tiers down it went. but return to zork is an actual successor to the 1-3/beyond/zero series, violating canon tone only to the extent that previous zork games violated canon tone, whereas GI is mostly (v enjoyable) fanservice.
RtZ also has to be the most unforgiving non-sierra graphical adventure ever made. there's a thing you can do in a number of different ways in the opening fifteen seconds of the game and if you do it the wrong way you'll learn like ten hours later that you can't win.

GI never has the atmosphere of mysterious dread that coexisted with zork's wackiness; RtZ does. (nemesis does, but it also basically excises the wackiness.)

xpps belatedly thank you very much for Kotor. I'm away with work at the moment but i've now got something to look forward to when I get back!

Don't forget the critical Kotor 2 restored content mod, which we've probably mentioned elsewhere:

golden 90% discounts fading into the ether
― Nhex, Friday, 24 June 2016 06:35 (nine years ago)
I think it's better than the last big sale, at least for indie games. I recommend English Country Tune, from the guy who made Stephen's Sausage Roll. 90% off, under $1.
other stuff I bought:The Sea Will Claim EverythingPony IslandCrypt of the NecroDancerKero Blaster, from the creators of Cave StoryShadowgate 2014Castle in the DarknessSubject 13Sega MegaDrive and Genesis packs 1-5 -- around 20 cents per gamesomething called Teddy Floppy Ear Bundle for $1
― remove butt (abanana), Friday, 24 June 2016 16:11 (nine years ago)
I've got like £11 in unused credit from trading card sales so I think I'll cash that in and pick up a steam controller for an effective £17.
Beyond that, I might grab Prison Architect and Divinity: Original Sin. Maybe Sniper Elite 3 too.
― JimD, Friday, 24 June 2016 16:59 (nine years ago)
i can recommend prison architect + divinity - both good, solid (tho not classic) games
― Mordy, Friday, 24 June 2016 17:01 (nine years ago)
Feel like we almost should have a knowledgebase/wiki for our cheap Steam sale recommendations
― Nhex, Sunday, 26 June 2016 05:51 (nine years ago)
anyone tried subnautica? one of the rps writers is heavily recommending it and it looks interstng.
― Mordy, Tuesday, 28 June 2016 14:47 (nine years ago)
i bought it b/c of that RPS article, it is very pleasant but even in non-survival mode is a little more minecrafty than i want. i have zero interest in resource management, just let me chill
― adam, Tuesday, 28 June 2016 16:15 (nine years ago)
maybe there's a straight chill mode idk i'ma go back to it tonight
― adam, Tuesday, 28 June 2016 16:16 (nine years ago)
picked up Please Don't Touch Anything ($0.99) and BloodGate ($0.89). most of the other stuff i'm interested isn't particularly discounted. sad!
― Mordy, Sunday, 3 July 2016 20:36 (nine years ago)
those are in my cart too, heh. thanks Trump voice
― Nhex, Sunday, 3 July 2016 21:37 (nine years ago)
subnautica has a chill mode yeah -- "exploration" i think. me on whatchu playin:
subnautica -- my go-to oculus demo: a standard post-minecraft survival game of the kind that now seems to be most of steam, but in the (alien, cartoony) ocean. can't play it that often, at least not with the thing on my head, cuz it scares me -- the 360-degree vulnerability; the distant groans of vast, unseen fauna. mostly play it as an environment, not a game, but wish i had the patience to craft myself a submarine or whatever. (would be less scared if i had a submarine.)
it's v pretty and the deeps are frightening to look at.
― le Histoire du Edgy Miley (difficult listening hour), Sunday, 3 July 2016 22:06 (nine years ago)
oh you still have to craft stuff to have stuff, even in the chillest mode -- maybe that's what you meant. i never made anything much more advanced than the handheld scanner.

― Mordy, Thursday, 21 July 2016 23:19 (nine years ago)
I paid 75p for the latest humble bundle and I got two games I already owned but didn't realise I already owned, plus Duke Nukem Forever.
― JimD, Thursday, 21 July 2016 23:22 (nine years ago)
so steam has made converting cards into wallet funds harder, because you now have to confirm every single sale by email or phone app. previously it was easy to use a game idler and an auto-seller, but no more.
― remove butt (abanana), Thursday, 21 July 2016 23:59 (nine years ago)
Anno games on sale this weekend. Might give in and actually pay money for 2205

stardew valley supposedly coming out for mac next week!!!
― Mordy, Friday, 22 July 2016 20:30 (nine years ago)
The new PSN summer sale overlaps heavily with my "big RPGs I meant to play but hadn't got around to buying yet" list. So I've got Witcher 3, Divinity Original Sin and Dragon Age Inquisition for £41 total. That's something like 10p per hour of gameplay, struggling to remember a better cost/entertainment ratio really. Course the downside is that these days I seem to fit in about 2 hours of gaming a week at most. So this lot is going to keep me busy for the next four years.
― JimD, Thursday, 28 July 2016 18:06 (nine years ago)
^^^ hitting the realisation that my current Steam Library (sans stuff on my wishlist) might well see me out.
― Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 28 July 2016 20:44 (nine years ago)
Of course in a couple of years they'll come up with something where you can fit a jack behind your ear and game while you sleep.

― Mordy, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 21:41 (nine years ago)
