A PS4 Thread: Because You Had to Play "Knack"

Just out of curiosity, what are the PS4 exclusives y'all feel have made the system worthwhile thus far? I'd intended to resist the pull to upgrade and milk my PS3 for as long as humanly possible, but there have actually been very few PS4 releases that I'm all that jealous about.

MGS V is available for PS3 so I'm not sweating that one. In all honesty, Just Cause 3 is the one that has me the most worked up.

The PS3 does have EDF4 but imo the update is that much better.

same can prob be said about MGSV. not a +0.1 but having played ground zeroes on ps3 and ps4, i gotta say ps4 was better

The PS4 operating system is reason enough to upgrade imo unless you already have an xbone

I would get a PS4 for Bloodborne if I had a spare $400 laying around.

i kind of want a mod version where you have to keep watch for years of gametime on end, and then after around 500-600 hours of gameplay a small fire breaks out, you tell the person on your walkie talkie, a fire crew arrives and easily puts it out

There's probably not a good answer to this but how loud is the ps4 fan? The fan on my ps3 is super loud and it's annoying when I'm trying to watch a movie.

the ps3 fan was ridiculous, i've never heard my ps4 sound anything like that

the only other modern console i've had was the xbox 360. the ps4 is much more quiet than the 360. i haven't really noticed it

the PS4 exclusive nobody itt is mentioning is The Show, second-best baseball game in the universe behind Super Mega. I will sorely miss the ability to pick up the action on my Vita, but the mainline game is just an incredible translation of the aesthetics of sports into something interactive. I wish somebody would make a pro wrestling game with the same attention to detail.

how many hours of cinematics does it begin with?

Significant reduction in cinematic length/frequency in 5, though the opening sequence before you get to the meat of the game is obnoxiously long. Great game!

Phantom Pain is on "sale" (i.e. cheaper than usual but still not exactly cheap) this week on PSN.

i kvetched through the first hour and a half of MGSV; there's interminable cinematics and nonsense tutorials. But the instant you finally are on the horse and put in the sandbox, holy shit it is amazing. Maybe my fave game of the year.

i hear there's some sort of post modern meta swing or two coming later in the game (i punked out about the 30th mission or so and got into Witcher 3 and am about to switcheroo back) but oh boy the basic story is dumb as hell.

you have to look at the story as a kind of pointillism i think

i've been thinking about getting MGS5 but i've never played a metal gear game and the plot sounds so stupid

the stupidity is part and parcel of the beauty of Metal GEAR

I never finished the last PS3 one because uhh I started it later at night, watched the hour of exposition, realized I really should restart because I was botching it so bad (tired), and couldn't deal with having to watch all that again

thankfully they are not in any chronological order so I can jump into MGS V?

yeah, you don't need to know anything about lore tbh. i'm sure it helps but i know fuck all about anything since MGS3 and it was fine. Psycho Mantis is in it, it might help to know who that is.

I'm only going to have one PS4 controller, is that going to be a problem? Can't plug it into a second slot :)

I figured out how to tweak the settings and circumvent that difficulty on the Vita re:MGS1 so I'm sure there must be a way on the PS4.

(I was frankly shocked that the Sony corporation was forward-thinking enough to allow users to switch controller numbers on a handheld that obviously has, y'know, just the one controller.)

To answer the original question, the Arkham Knight season pass has some fun fan service stuff in there but there's already tons to do in the core game, so I'd probably avoid paying full price for it, it's due to start going on sale pretty soon anyway I expect (new content stopped being added to it in December I think?).

yep... i think general opinion of the Arkham DLC was one of disappointment. on another note, hubba hubba for this Uncharted trailer graphics
