there's a big African base that's pretty sweet, full of little bridges and shanties and swamps. it's where one of your targets goes if you're not quick enough hunting him down. (I wasn't because I was intent on Fultoning every living and non-living thing in sight)
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 1 November 2015 13:37 (ten years ago)
so there are a lot of missions in this game, is what i'm getting
― ♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Sunday, 1 November 2015 13:52 (ten years ago)
possibly ... too many?
Yeah it can feel kind of bitty. It might have been better to have like 10 missions on the scale of the GZ one with a few smaller ones sprinkled in. Still an awesome game though. And the smaller missions allow you more time to fuX0r with your base and your sideops and your combat deployments (if that's your bag)
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 1 November 2015 14:03 (ten years ago)
the two tanks mission is fuckin hard.
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 15 September 2015 00:33
jsdafklds fucking took out the commander stealthy, attached c4 to both tanks stealthy... apparently that doesnt work? fuck this game
― am0n, Tuesday, 10 November 2015 15:47 (ten years ago)
you might need two c4s each... iirc they are on the move, right? i think i put the c4 where they were going to roll and popped it off when they rolled over
― nerd shit (Will M.), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 16:10 (ten years ago)
is this Backup Backdown? i think it takes 3 to blow up a tank. do that and use a rocket launcher or grenade launcher. if u run out, call in an ammo resupply.
also you only need to destroy one tank to complete the mission. it has a very unforgiving checkpoint system though and you can make it through the entire thing and then fall and die and have to redo the whole thing again.
once you get the vehicle fulton and ant-vehicle mines it becomes a completely different mission.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 17:17 (ten years ago)
Just started doing FOBs in earnest and they are a BLAST. Anyone wondering where the big bases are in this game that hasn't checked out FOB needs to. It's like MGS2 on steroids.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 10 November 2015 17:20 (ten years ago)
Tanks missions, I'd bring Quiet and have her tranq or kill the support and then sneak up and Fulton the tanks. Got way too easy once I unlocked the wormhole Fulton.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 02:07 (ten years ago)
i don't have quiet or d-dog or tank fulton unlocked. should i not be doing the main missions in order? also the tanks end up parking at a base so im just crawling up to them
― am0n, Wednesday, 11 November 2015 03:38 (ten years ago)
every time i go back to base d-dog is still a useless tiny shit
― am0n, Wednesday, 11 November 2015 03:39 (ten years ago)
apparently its 4 c4s on the rear and treads. then you have to supply drop more c4 for tank 2
― am0n, Wednesday, 11 November 2015 03:53 (ten years ago)
my first E... yayyyyyyyyyy
― am0n, Wednesday, 11 November 2015 04:12 (ten years ago)
tanks mission is way before quiet or cargo fulton. can you redo missions?? i didn't realize..
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 09:05 (ten years ago)
yes =)
it will be a totally different mission when you get fulton, mines, vehicles, etc.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 15:29 (ten years ago)
i'm stuck in a weird (but enjoyable) loop of rinse repeat missions trying to do all the side ops and redoing missions to get all the optional goals and to fulton out every goddamn thing. Playing with rockets for tanks/communication and nonlethal ammo certainly makes the game a specific style of hard. Still on mission 12 after a month of play. I think i'm going to turn off reflex mode and see how that goes.
― a llove spat over a llama-keeper (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 16:17 (ten years ago)
i wish i could use the watergun and the wu zzz pistol in the same loadout. or maybe i can and just being incredibly thick?
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 16:55 (ten years ago)
I don't think you can.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 17:48 (ten years ago)
piss sticks
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 17:55 (ten years ago)
i could rule the game with just those two weapons
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 17:56 (ten years ago)
get the stun assault rifle, set it to single-shot mode (i think you can do this?) and tada! a bigger tranq gun (which admittedly only stuns so it's less good, but still)
started playing again after beating the game, to go back and enjoy some side ops because they're just fun (some of them anyway, fuck a heavy infantry and fuck a million gunship missions) and i have finally started discovering the joy of the decoy
― nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 18:01 (ten years ago)
decoy is your best friend once you start FOB
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 18:08 (ten years ago)
still have yet to mess w/ that much. most times i tried, it'd givfe me a list, i would pick one, and it would say it was already under attack.
― nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 18:09 (ten years ago)
i never use decoys because they raise the alert level almost immediately. right?
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 21:49 (ten years ago)
i've only used them twice but i don't think so! individual dudes will yell "FREEZE" and walk up on them and stab them so they deflate, but it doesn't raise an entire base to search for you iirc
― nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 11 November 2015 22:11 (ten years ago)
i unlocked decoys, rocket launcher and d-dizzle. the one after the tanks was a nice breather, just run around and blow stuff up. i surrounded a guy at mother base with decoys and found they will knock guys out if you inflate it when theyre on top of it

― slam dunk, Tuesday, 17 November 2015 02:03 (ten years ago)
ha, i have that feeling all the damn timefinally on mission 17 i think? still dicking around and freeroam ganking whole outclassed battalionsi REALLY should turn off the slowmo thing
― i made a scope for my laser musket out of some (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 08:02 (ten years ago)
there are plenty of missions coming up where it's turned off for you, savor reflex mode now while you've still got it imo
i now have quiet with the silenced tranq rifle and dawwwwwg....... as long as i keep the helmet supply in check only the biggest installations stand a chance
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 15:03 (ten years ago)
oh reeeeeeeeeeally okay
― i made a scope for my laser musket out of some (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 17:27 (ten years ago)
i love d-dog spotter extraordinaire but he doesn't stay put after commanding him to "stay"? stop blowing my cover or ill fulton your ass out. i never use the horse either, just sprint everywhere
― am0n, Tuesday, 17 November 2015 20:01 (ten years ago)
It kind of seems like sprinting/horse/enemy trucks are all about the same speed
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 20:59 (ten years ago)
Yeah Quiet's drawback is that she doesn't actually spot everybody and she doesn't spot mines. D-Dog's so good that when not using him I find myself getting all huffy about being surprised by a non-spotted enemy - "someone should have told me about this!!"
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:01 (ten years ago)
anyone playing with reflex off? are there any other settings that can be tweaked to make the game a bit more... interesting?
― hot doug stamper (||||||||), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:32 (ten years ago)
well you could make your standard load-out something like.. nothing except decoys and stealth camo
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:41 (ten years ago)
but i have to say i take immense pleasure in sonning entire camps of doofus baddies from long range, fuck those guys, this game takes months of my life as it is, i'm not making it easier for them
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:42 (ten years ago)
the joy in this game is just breaking open the toybox and trying items you don't usually use. it doesn't make it "harder" per se but it adds a lot of variation. like, my usual loadout is a sleeper pistol, a tricked-out assault rifle and a sleeper sniper rifle, but sometimes i use the water pistol, a bazooka and a different kind of gun (haven't really messed w/ the shotguns yet tho) just to make myself play differently. or not bringing the dog. or bringing a tank. or heavy cardboard box use. there are so many things!
― nerd shit (Will M.), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:50 (ten years ago)
also if you guys haven't fucked with the hand of jehuty... do it. so much fun. (really worth getting it to level 2, btw)
― nerd shit (Will M.), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:51 (ten years ago)
and the rocket arm! geez. so many toys.
― nerd shit (Will M.), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 21:52 (ten years ago)
you can turn off markers as well. I've tried reflex a bit but am too lazy to really play wo. i like the slow motion.
im not nearly hardcore enough to play w no markers at all.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 23:01 (ten years ago)
Quiet can't really mark guys who are indoors, which has made for some entertaining think-fast CQC moments.
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 17 November 2015 23:39 (ten years ago)
reflex mode is great when you're within the right distance and you just spam r2 knowing as soon as the slo-mo ends that dude is getting choke-slammed
― am0n, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 00:48 (ten years ago)
also like d-dogs basic bite attack. pull guys out one by one, sic d-dog on em, knock em out, pile em up behind a wall, call in d-horse to take a dump on em, etc
― am0n, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 00:54 (ten years ago)
not rly feeling africa so far. does it get better
― am0n, Wednesday, 18 November 2015 00:55 (ten years ago)
yes. first time i arrived it was cloudy and didn't look very good. there is some cool stuff, lots of cool bases and different areas of the maps. the terrain is much flatter making for a less interesting open world than afganistahn. u should take this opportunity to start using jeeps and (when u get it) D-Walker to traverse the savanna. it can get boring running across those open fields.
the 2nd half is where u can tell konami stepped in and cut off the budget.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 01:14 (ten years ago)
did u make it to the oil fields? i like that map a lot.
― AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 01:15 (ten years ago)
Love the mansion too.
― illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 01:49 (ten years ago)
anyone managed to get the "no traces" bonus on any missions?
― hot doug stamper (||||||||), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 18:08 (ten years ago)
i greatly prefer africa to afghanistan for some reason.
― nerd shit (Will M.), Wednesday, 18 November 2015 20:26 (ten years ago)
I have never once deployed with the walker. I am so boring! They just seem super unstealth.
