Hotline Miami 2 only 33% off... eh maybe I'll get it anyway. Seems like nobody played it

Nhex, Friday, 12 June 2015 04:27 (eleven years ago)

nothing on my wishlist has a great sale price. shovel knight $2 off -- hold me.
gog.com has some decent deals. I bought Valdis Story and Apotheon, both of which look like metroidvanias.

aaaaablnnn (abanana), Friday, 12 June 2015 07:09 (eleven years ago)

considering:

Wasteland 2 - $19.99 (-50%)
This War of Mine - $7.99 (-60%)
Crypt of the NecroDancer - $7.49 (-50%)

did anyone end up playing W2 and is it good?

Mordy, Friday, 12 June 2015 17:14 (eleven years ago)

I hear some of these $3 games are good but are they CUP OF COFFEE GOOD?

calstars, Saturday, 13 June 2015 00:34 (eleven years ago)

ok fair enough but $20 is one expensive cup of coffee

Mordy, Saturday, 13 June 2015 00:55 (eleven years ago)

On the other end of the scale, there's a load of <$1 games with trading cards which I will probably grab *shrug*

Nhex, Saturday, 13 June 2015 03:03 (eleven years ago)

my findings so far - darkest dungeon + wasteland 2 are both knockouts. this war of mine looks promising but seems to lack a tutorial and i need to take some time to dig around in it and see how it works. outlast, or at least the first 18 minutes i've played so far, it legit scary. crypt of the necrodancer is kinda goofy but i can see how it'll be fun once i figure out how to get it to play my music library.

Mordy, Saturday, 13 June 2015 11:45 (eleven years ago)

Bought Hunie Pop because.
These Steam sale discounts get more disappointing every time. The key market/resellers usually give you steeper discounts throughout the year, especially Green Man Gaming. But this is probably inevitable as your hoard grows to inhuman levels.
I might get Pixel Heroes: Byte and Magic just because they did (strangely trendy) goofy throwback video

Nhex, Saturday, 13 June 2015 17:10 (eleven years ago)

idk if i can keep buying games but if i had an unlimited budget and unlimited time on this earth to play video games, i'd probably pick up:

Sunless Sea: $11.39 (-40%)
Prison Architect: $4.49 (-85%)
Broforce: $9.99 (-33%)
Rocksmith 2014: $26.99 (-55%)
Gods Will Be Watching: $2.49 (-75%)

Mordy, Saturday, 13 June 2015 17:23 (eleven years ago)

lol wow

Nhex, Sunday, 14 June 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)

shamefully i have no impulse control so i bought Endless Legend, Gods Will Be Watching, Prison Architect and Transistor

Mordy, Sunday, 14 June 2015 22:10 (eleven years ago)

xp aw man they took down the page

Nhex, Monday, 15 June 2015 01:28 (eleven years ago)

Tempted by Transitor and Grim Fandango, but will probably wait until they're similarly priced on PS4
Might throw down on FORCED, Banner Saga and Defense Grid 2

Nhex, Monday, 15 June 2015 04:47 (eleven years ago)

cook serve delicious is .99 cents and it is worth much more than that. fantastic game.

Mordy, Monday, 15 June 2015 19:46 (eleven years ago)

I think I'm gonna get I AM BREAD, what is wrong with me

Nhex, Tuesday, 16 June 2015 15:30 (ten years ago)

you are bread apparently

i dunno if contrast is any good but i met the company's CD two weeks ago and he seemed really smart, and then i met the art director & a game designer the week later and they were just the greatest people and i want to be their friends

so i guess i'm buying contrast

Who M the best? (Will M.), Tuesday, 16 June 2015 15:36 (ten years ago)

has anyone seen metal gear rising go below -50%? i am hoping for that one before the end of the sale

Who M the best? (Will M.), Tuesday, 16 June 2015 15:37 (ten years ago)

DiRT 3 is 30% off - $20.99
Ironcast is 50% off - $7.49

anyone have experience with DiRT? i've been looking for a really fun (and not GT realism type) racing game, something like Daytona USA or Burnout... is this that game?

Mordy, Tuesday, 16 June 2015 15:46 (ten years ago)

DiRT 3 is great fun apart from all the gymkhana shit

There was Bjork from Iceland and Alanis Morissette from Canada (onimo), Tuesday, 16 June 2015 16:31 (ten years ago)

or would i prefer GRID2 ($8.99) or Colin McRae ($2.09)?

Mordy, Tuesday, 16 June 2015 16:52 (ten years ago)

I got Alien Isolation even though I'm not planning to at it until I have 1) new pc and 2) rift. Haven't been tempted enough by anything else yet though. I was hoping for a decent discount on Divinity: Original Sin but it's not gone lower than -33% and I've not finished Pillars of Eternity yet anyway.

JimD, Tuesday, 16 June 2015 19:20 (ten years ago)

Anyone played Grow Home (£2.99, don't know what in $) or Kairo (£0.79)?

Love the look of the former but am terrible at 3d platformers. Screenshots of Kairo hit some mystery nostalgia button in me and hey, it's cheap...

undergraduate dance (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 16 June 2015 19:33 (ten years ago)

u know what the problem is? there are too many movies books music television shows games and not enough time

Mordy, Wednesday, 17 June 2015 02:16 (ten years ago)

The burden of entertainment

calstars, Wednesday, 17 June 2015 02:21 (ten years ago)

glad i pulled the trigger on dirt3. so much fun.

Mordy, Wednesday, 17 June 2015 04:24 (ten years ago)

Went in for Xenonauts & Apotheosis. I'm guessing the former will run on the work laptop.

Waiting for Wasteland 2 to hit more than 50%. Its like buying used books; the fun of acquisition is so much but real-life time constraints prevents you from consuming it all

Purves Grundy (kingfish), Wednesday, 17 June 2015 06:33 (ten years ago)

christ the thought of playing alien isolation with a rift is legit terrifying

bizarro gazzara, Wednesday, 17 June 2015 10:05 (ten years ago)

i want to try offworld trading company but even w/ 50% off it's still $20 and it feels like a $5 game to me - maybe a future humblebundle purchase. not to mention that my backlog of games is now approaching infinite.

Mordy, Thursday, 18 June 2015 16:58 (ten years ago)

Today's steam deals are pretty good. I finally bought Shovel Knight and I'm tempted by Hand of Fate, Life is Strange, and Ori.

aaaaablnnn (abanana), Thursday, 18 June 2015 17:49 (ten years ago)

Neverending Nightmares is kinda tempting

Nhex, Thursday, 18 June 2015 18:14 (ten years ago)

Today: Fallout Bundle just to legally own it on Steam.

Also, UnEpic

Purves Grundy (kingfish), Saturday, 20 June 2015 04:46 (ten years ago)

Hatoful Boyfriend $1.49! sold.

Nhex, Saturday, 20 June 2015 06:29 (ten years ago)

hand of fate is fantastic

Mordy, Saturday, 20 June 2015 15:48 (ten years ago)

Last day for the sale. Tempted to grab few $5 indies (Roundabout, Banner Saga) and some slightly more expensive ones (Hotline Miami 2, Shovel Knight, Wasteland 2), but ehh, remembered that Arkham Knight is coming out in two days and that'll keep me occupied for the immediate future. My usual end of sale routine now is to pick up a bunch of $1 - $2.50 games at the last minute.
Also I picked up X-Com: Enemy Within outside the sale a couple weeks ago, and HuniePop was a worthwhile purchase at $5.

Nhex, Saturday, 20 June 2015 23:04 (ten years ago)

eurotruck simulator 2 is only $4.59 but i can't get over how boring the premise sounds. is it really actually fun?

Mordy, Saturday, 20 June 2015 23:10 (ten years ago)

Fun isn't the right word for it really. It's meditative and the scenery's nice. It's a simulator in the sense that (I assume) it accurately recreates the feeling of doing that job irl, just drifting along the M62 listening to magic fm and making sure you're in the right lane so you don't miss your exit. I love it. But I wouldn't recommend it over The Stanley Parable at £2.49.

JimD, Sunday, 21 June 2015 10:51 (ten years ago)

How about Chivalry: Medieval Warfare? Worth £1.89?

JimD, Sunday, 21 June 2015 10:55 (ten years ago)

last Truck Sim game i played disappointed me cos i thought at least some of the landscape would be modelled on the real world, and sadly it wasn't

confessions of hellno (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 21 June 2015 11:28 (ten years ago)

otherwise i'd be all over it

The Euro one kind of is - as in you can tell Wroclaw is meant to be Wroclaw and Warsaw is meant to be Warsaw but it is definitely not a street by street thing iirc.

euro truck is very meditative if u are into that

adam, Sunday, 21 June 2015 12:31 (ten years ago)

Good lord - didn't realize today that there are players deliberately trolling the Steam Monster Game rooms, using wormholes to skip the boss levels so players can't get money or superjumps (using a wormhole on a X100 level lets you jump 10 levels intead of 1).

Nhex, Monday, 22 June 2015 05:51 (ten years ago)

was the Monster Game any good? I waited in a queue for 20 minutes to play it once and then my game started and ended while I wasn't looking for 1 minute and it put me back at the beginning of the queue, so that was the end of that idea for me

I bought a bunch of things, nearly all for under £4 because I've got such a backlog I can't justify paying more for something I may never get round to paying, but god help me the only one I've been playing so far is Gemcraft II, a not particularly revolutionary (and, ugh, Flash-based) tower defence game whose prequel I was addicted to on Kongregate a few years back. think I only picked it up to give the devs some money for the hours I spent on game 1, but nope, straight back down the addiction wormhole like the fool I am

Abraham raves doubtlessly (a passing spacecadet), Monday, 22 June 2015 09:19 (ten years ago)

Monster Game was an MMO version of Cookie Clicker that crashed all the time and had a secret metagame of breaking it by using automated click tools so... no not really worth it

Nhex, Monday, 22 June 2015 17:03 (ten years ago)

There was no reason not to use autoclickers... actually, there was no reason to play it at all. It had only two types of levels, had little progression, and was unresponsive due to the networking.

aaaaablnnn (abanana), Monday, 22 June 2015 17:23 (ten years ago)

Chainsaw Warrior looks interesting. $2 will get you the base game + DLC on IndieGameStand right now
https://indiegamestand.com/deal/

Nhex, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 16:56 (ten years ago)

that does look cool. always interested in games workshop stuff. speaking of, have they put out a decent digital version of army-building, campaign-focused warhammer 40k yet? or are they worried that if they do it'll leach their over-priced miniatures sales?

Mordy, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 17:00 (ten years ago)

hopefully if http://store.steampowered.com/app/364360/ is a success they will go on to 40k

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 23 June 2015 18:49 (ten years ago)

Humble Borderlands Bundle going on right now. Pretty good if you don't have any of it - I got the 2nd tier just for the two character add-ons for BL2.
I wouldn't go to the $15 tier, just wait until the next sale if you want the BL2 season pass.
