I'm playing Dominations, Mordy.

And also Does Not Commute, which rules.

polyphonic, Friday, 24 April 2015 17:34 (eleven years ago)

How can I add u poly?

Mordy, Friday, 24 April 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

No idea. I'm Miguelito on there though.

polyphonic, Friday, 24 April 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

Maybe I need to repair the ally gate first

Mordy, Friday, 24 April 2015 17:56 (eleven years ago)

probably easier to add through gamecenter. i'm josephcotten there

polyphonic, Friday, 24 April 2015 18:15 (eleven years ago)

is dominations pay to play / war of clans / wait for the timer to tick down so you can do something style?

Karl Malone, Friday, 24 April 2015 18:17 (eleven years ago)

yes, however it's designed by brian reynolds who worked on civ 2, alpha centauri, and frontierville - the last one of these games that i actually enjoyed (and i think voted for in c+p)

Mordy, Friday, 24 April 2015 18:26 (eleven years ago)

yeah, i'll probably check it out based on his involvement alone!

Karl Malone, Friday, 24 April 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

Because of the timer tickdowns it does feel like progress comes a little slow, but now that I'm winning multiplayer matches and my defense is holding off attackers better I'm starting to feel a bit invested. The main thing is that I only play it for about ten minutes per session. I have more room in my life for that sort of game lately.

Premise ridiculous. Who have two potato? (forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 April 2015 21:25 (eleven years ago)

i gave dominations a fair shot, but deleted it last night. i had made it to whatever age lets you pick a country (i went with the germans) and i played a few multiplayer battles and was working toward reaching the little alliance dock area, but i just wasn't having any fun. also, the nagging thought of pay-to-play - yeah, i could join a league and try to rise up through the ranks, but won't i just get wailed on by a bunch of people willing to spend $15 on stuff?

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 13:42 (eleven years ago)

Eh not really afaict the only pay to play is you can pay to have things finish quicker (tho the game gives you plenty of premium currency for free ime) but you can't like buy unique items w crowns.

Mordy, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 16:25 (eleven years ago)

I'm almost up to the Medieval Age. My defense has been holding up pretty well, and I tend to win my multiplayer matches for the most part. Of course if someone from the Enlightenment Age creeps in they're going to annihilate me but they get a lot more money if they attack someone closer to their level. Haven't spend any irl money yet.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 18:23 (eleven years ago)

Civ Crafter is another similar game that I've been playing. Also free. Build up your town and then fight other towns or whatever, with some clicker elements. This one in more of a Minecraftish visual style.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

One thing I like about Dominations that you can watch replays of the attacks, win or lose, so that you can refine your defenses. And when you attack people you can see how they've set up their town and steal ideas from it.

If they ever manage to port a paradox grand strategy game to tablets I'll never play another game again

two weeks pass...

Loving Alto's Adventure, which was on sale this weekend.

stet, Thursday, 28 May 2015 12:17 (eleven years ago)

yeah, it's fun of the tiny wings variety.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 28 May 2015 12:54 (eleven years ago)

i have been playing it a lot as well. the visual design is really good, to the degree that you'll notice new little details a couple hours in.

Karl Malone, Thursday, 28 May 2015 13:12 (eleven years ago)

it's careful to allow you to unlock stuff so that there always feels like progress being made

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 28 May 2015 14:43 (eleven years ago)

ok how the heck do i triple backflip

got bent (mild cheezed off vibes) (s.clover), Monday, 1 June 2015 01:21 (eleven years ago)

second rider + big hill + maybe a feather?

Mordy, Monday, 1 June 2015 01:21 (eleven years ago)

Quit after I got to level 39 and can't for the life of me fly though an archway with the wing suit.

Jeff, Monday, 1 June 2015 01:23 (eleven years ago)

this was a bit of a constant for a while - just unlocked the final boarder (level 51). very enjoyable and curiously soothing and unfrustrating. right about the challenges being nicely calibrated.

flying through an arch - although that feels like it should be those roof-tile grinds, you can do it by flying 'through' any grind post (that is to say below the bit where you grind but over the ground obv). it's probably easiest it do it with the bunting ones.

Fizzles, Monday, 1 June 2015 05:55 (eleven years ago)

double triple flip is killing me rn

You must build a boat, sequel to 1000000000000 out.

Jeff, Friday, 5 June 2015 11:42 (eleven years ago)

wasn't i supposed to get that for free or something for buying the original? thought i read that somewhere

diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Friday, 5 June 2015 14:23 (eleven years ago)

anybody playing and got feedback? I'm inclined to buy immediately.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 June 2015 15:21 (eleven years ago)

def wanna get that

I've been having a ball with Knights of Pen and Paper, and I see that a sequel just came out, so I'll be on that too.

also I'm still backflipping with Alto of course

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 5 June 2015 15:57 (eleven years ago)

level 33 on alto

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 June 2015 15:58 (eleven years ago)

level 26 I think? have to break 5 rocks on a single board, not a big deal but haven't quite hit it yet

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 5 June 2015 15:59 (eleven years ago)

level 33 on alto as well.

and you must build a boat is somehow even more addicting than 10000000000000000

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 June 2015 17:10 (eleven years ago)

aw fuck, going in

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Friday, 5 June 2015 17:12 (eleven years ago)

i can't stop! heeaeeeeelp

but seriously, fuck that trap that freezes you, that is the worst.

Karl Malone, Saturday, 6 June 2015 02:23 (eleven years ago)

GOTY so far. My boat is huge.

Jeff, Monday, 8 June 2015 16:25 (eleven years ago)

are you (or anyone here) playing it ON IPHONE? I played 10000000000000000 ON IPAD and it ruled obv but I'm wondering how it would work on phone

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 8 June 2015 16:31 (eleven years ago)

i'm playing it on iphone. it's fine, i have no complaints

Mordy, Monday, 8 June 2015 16:33 (eleven years ago)

same

Karl Malone, Monday, 8 June 2015 16:34 (eleven years ago)

Phone for me.

Jeff, Monday, 8 June 2015 16:36 (eleven years ago)

ROCK. will buy

droit au butt (Euler), Monday, 8 June 2015 16:39 (eleven years ago)

how long does
YOU
MUST
BUILD
A
BOAT
go on for? I am loving it (a bit too much) but enjoyed that finite structure for 100000000 - 'you will be addicted for this comparatively brief length of time, but you will be completely addicted'. YMBAB feels like it might go on for ages.

woof, Monday, 8 June 2015 16:43 (eleven years ago)

I feel the opposite! I'm afraid I'm close to the end. I don't want it to end.
