which city for GTA 5?

Heists. You can't do them unless you have all four roles filled. So you just wait and wait. You finally get a third person ... and the second person drops out. Then an hour later you get a full group and discover your heistmates are garbage.

Or you join a random heist and keep getting stuck in a boring setup mission, or the team leader doesn't want to pay you anything ...

The missions are pretty fun and challenging if you can actually get a good group together, but man.

holy god, that's a lot of work put into a game which only came out a couple of weeks ago

Successfully completed my first heist last night. Satisfying. Also feels good to get some additional value out of this game. I finished the storyline a long time, and always planned to come back after awhile and get into online.

Continually trying to get used to the neighborhoods and distinct areas, but there is so much area to explore. And the night / day scheme just adds more variety.

Yeah, having him there was a nice touch. You could almost watch that whole garage scene as a cutscene intro to a GTA mission.

Oh man.... the Tennis minigame is so great. Had me in stitches too, the banter between shady old rich guy and his cheating wife. "Not bad for a fat old fool" real life LOLZ for me so much.

That little head shake he does at the end. LOLZ

Acquired this for pc. Enjoying it so far. Amused that the Giantbomb dudes elected Lamar as one of the most memorable/best characters of the entire year.

is the first person aspect a whole lot better? gave up on the orig about a third way through because of clunky controls and crap dialogue but i do love me a good fps

...not in cars. On your feet, yes.

It's way easier for shooting parts of missions.

I really like the way this game looks. We still have a ways to go graphically but this is a good example of AAA open world design. It feels like every square block has been meticulously textured and tweaked to have its own unique flavor yet blend in with surrounding regions. Just the amount of detail in a 4-way stop is incredible. Once I was checking my phone irl and the Franklin was watching people walk down the street. Someone walked up to a stoplight and waited. About a minute later someone else came up from the other direction and stood next to them. They waited for the light to turn red, the cross-traffic stopped, and the two pedestrians crossed the street. The individual AI might be simple but the interactions between systems is masterful.

I'm having a hard time coming up with an unused Social Club nickname. Is this my in game name?

It'll be what appears above your head in multiplayer, but shouldn't affect the single player at all.

The other day, I ran up to a helicopter as it was landing and pulled the pilot out so I could steal it. I managed to get a couple of feet off the ground before he recovered and pulled me out of the helicopter. But because there was no one piloting the helicopter anymore, it fell on his leg and it trapped him and I kicked him to death.

I'm considering walking around the entire island. Wonder how many day/night cycles that would take.

Actually prob wouldn't be possible since when you load up the game you start back in your safe house. No way I could do the whole thing in one sitting.

Still feel like there's so much to see and discover though. The whole island is like a huge work of art that I want to take in leisurely.

No kidding. I dip in all the time and, although I have a pretty decent general sense of the geography at this point, I still keep stumbling upon things I never saw before.

Last night, I found a sweet spot for a standoff just inside a train tunnel where none of the cops could seem to get at me, except for the occasional SWAT dudes who would rappel from their helicopters only to be greeted by an explosive device at the bottom of their ropes. I kept it up for a full day of in-game time before I got bored and took a header into the gully below.
