this may lean too far in the other direction of complexity, but you might check out pocket tactics.com, specifically their reviews section and best of 2014 and 2013 awards. they might lean a little bit too much toward wargames and WWII simulators and stuff like that, but they also review a good amount of unique strategy/tactics games that you probably wouldn't hear about otherwise.

The thing I especially liked about Hot Springs was that it was kind of a feng shui game ... it's really about placing the right objects near each other to make the space more harmonious, as well as trying to find a balance that appeals to different demographics. It's not deep in implementation but the idea is really fun imo. Mega Mall and the restaurant one borrow some of those ideas but Hot Springs does it best.

I always wanted to try Oh Edo Towns but never got around to it. Anyone played that one? Or the cruise ship one?

everyone knows the best part of game dev story is giving your games really dirty horrible names. if you're not doing that you're missing out.

I found the whole concept of MMS to be really inherently gross so I called my mall Gross Mall and that's been making me smile

I've tried a few, but fell off any Kairosoft game where I had to lay out a place or explore dungeons/space. I liked Game Dev Story (can't beat your first hit of the kairo), Grand Prix Story and Pocket League Story - so I guess I prefer their 'develop a thing and compete' model.

now I just have to get all the regulars and build one of each store but considering I can't fucking sort stores by performance this is just a really dumb guessing game.

Is Crossy Road the first game to actually have a built-in Let's Play-style recording feature? It's designed to record your gameplay + the front-facing camera to capture your reactions and commentary simultaneously as a picture-in-picture.

The thing I love about it is that it's constantly changing. You're basically a different character every day. Recently they introduced a bunch of australia-themed characters. If you use the kangaroo it can actually jump a little farther on the log sections. If you use a wizard he's constantly setting things on fire. I dunno, it's the best.

I think last night I jumped from the 150 range to the 220 range.

Frogger is one of the classic arcade games I've always gravitated to, so CR feels sorta perfect for me.

idgi. this game has kind of fallen into my pile of 2 games i play when i am on the metro (no reception) and like... it doesn't even beat the other game out most of the time. the other game is solitaire.

the "new character every day" doesn't feel like much. sure there's a little bit of fun discovery there (first time i unlocked a character that had a different world skin) and a little bit of annoying discovery (seriously wtf when i unlocked the 2nd koala) but i never felt like a game was so nakedly abotu not fucknig up (and also: the number of impossible traffic situations really turn me off)

Sometimes you get stuck on the edge and cornered and there's nothing you can do, but if you give yourself some space there's usually a way out, especially if you backtrack a bit.

i mean more moments where the traffic gets so dense that there's always a vehicle in the at least 1 of the 2 lanes in front of you

You just have to stop for a second and let them pass, or move to the right a bit. Obviously you have to do it pretty quick before the bird swoops you up.

everything i learned about frogger strategy comes from that one part in that one seinfeld episode where george moves the arcade machine

I only played this long enough to beat cozen, then I quit and played I Am Level instead, which is 10x better.

Not worth $5, but it was free yesterday, so put it on your wishlist: Framed. Scott McCloud would LOVE this game, clever stuff, especially the later puzzles where you have to manipulate the panels in real-time.

Kinda hooked on Trivia Crack right now

Just played Device 6, loved it. Short, but the puzzles were just the right level of challenging and the presentation was pretty much perfect.

Zynga released an update to all-time ILX favourite Drop 7 the other day.
Don't install the update - it pretty much ruins the game.
I was lucky and saw warnings before I applied the update.
I thought folks here would appreciate a similar heads up.

Man I still play the pre-Zynga Drop7 almost daily on my commute home
